Razer Leviathan 5.1 Channel Surround Sound Bar

Razer Leviathan 5.1 Channel Surround Sound Bar

2 out of 5 eggsGreat while it worked

Pros: Its small, lightweight, and easy to setup. Sounded decent but not awe-inspiring.

Cons: This is now, within 30 days is emitting a squealing sound that gives the user a headache even after unplugging all audio outputs and muting the device.
Only sounds good if you're sitting directly in front of it.

Other Thoughts: I do not recommend this product to anyone that is looking for a device without problems in the first 30 days.

1 out of 5 eggsover price for what you get. its more like paying for the brand name

Pros: - great sound / crystal clear
- good product quality and it sure doesn't feel cheap

Cons: onto the bad thing about this product. first off, NO REMOTE CONTROL. I with this price it would have be nice to have a remote control or an app that you can download for your phone so you can remotely turn it on/off or adjust the volume. Also, I would have been nice if the actual control button is illuminated. I don't see why I need to turn on my living room lights so I can just see the button of this sound bar. good product but its seriously overpriced and you don't get much out of what you pay for. if I can do it again I would get a different sound bar/speaker. disappointed with my purchase

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent sound bar

Pros: great sound, strong bass, very loud. theres absolutely no sound or bass warping even at the loudest setting. the bass cube is insane. even at medium volume the bass could be felt from my room at the back of my house to the living room at the front of the house. this thing is loud see more about that in cons

Cons: auto shut off, very loud

the auto shut off after 20 mins of no sound is kind of annoying but i solved that issue by connecting it to my asus strix 7.1 hub and now it no longer shuts off on its own so no stars removed for that.

extremely loud. i can't listen to anything at medium to high volume without my roommates complaining.

Other Thoughts: all in all i am impressed with razer's first sound bar. 10/10 would recommend

5 out of 5 eggsReally nice!

Pros: Very nice, crisp sound. Sub can get explosions down really well and Geralt's voice is a bit intimidating. I had read the reviews that had said "the speaker would auto turn off all the time and was a flaw." but it actually only turns off after ten minuets sitting idle with no audio coming out.

Setup had been really easy, and I am very satisfied.

Cons: There aren't any cons that I have run into yet, speaker is very nice and I have recommended it to friends.

Other Thoughts: The Leviathan is a great buy for the money.

5 out of 5 eggsSound Bar

Pros: Sound!!! This sound bar is soooooo good. For the size of it, it puts out a lot. Sub woofer is amazing. I play actually base music on it and it just sounds good.

Cons: Optical cable is cheap one and the length is very short.
No remote.

Other Thoughts: I bought this and I was so impressed as my roommate was that I bought a second one. This would also work well if you have a TV in your bedroom.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, took a while

Pros: It was awesome, you can hear great. I put it though the passes for speakers and they did a good job.

Cons: It took a long time to get here, I got it today when I ordered on the 30th, thats all fine, but everything came in 3 days, so I'm wondering if they have it shipped from razor and sent to me. It doesnt go with razor synapse, I expected it to be there, but I guess because its a speaker it doesnt show up so you cant customize it.

4 out of 5 eggsLeviathan

Pros: Almost couldn't tell the difference between the Leviathan and my Altec Lansing 621. The sound is amazing for a soundbar, and the surround sound, while not as full as a true setup, is pretty nifty for what it is. Thought I actually heard someone behind me earlier today while playing AC II.

Compact, and I actually like the auto shutoff feature. I've read complaints, but if you did your research before purchasing, you'd have known this was a feature.

Cords stay put, no wiggling or bad connections.

BASS. Definitely has that "oomph," but it's not as overpowering as I thought, which is nice.

Cons: 3.5mm jack. I would have liked 2 optical ports. The 3.5 mm jack introduces buzzing connected to my PC (I have the PS4 connected via Optical). Might buy a toslink splitter. Also, 3.5 apparently isn't good for surround sound, so it kinda makes that connection useless for gaming/movies.

Sound modes. Game is a little too bassy, music is useless, and voice is almost right, but not quite full enough. I use the first or last setting normally, depending on what I'm listening too. I never use the music setting, as it just lacks that extra something to make it special.

NFC. I loved this, but after a week, it stopped working. I've emailed tech support and hopefully will hear back soon regarding this. I use my phone connected via bluetooth (NFC not required), but it was nice to just "tap" and sync instead of manually activating my bluetooth.

Other Thoughts: While I miss the NFC support and wish the 3.5 jack didn't buzz, I am still satisfied with the Leviathan. Enough so that I retired my Lansing 621 setup (which is AMAZING and puts Klipsch Promedia to shame) and gave them to my cousin who didn't have a true bass for his speaker setup. The Leviathan looks great and doesn't take up tons of space on my desk.

4 out of 5 eggsCompact quality

Pros: Nice and small for a sound bar with this much punch. Voices are clear and bright, bass is aggressive enough for some hard dance grooves. Multiple input options. Low enough to sit under large monitor bezels. Comes with 2 stickers! TWO!

Cons: No remote control. Unable to control Razer volume from my TV. (6yr old Toshiba) Corded sub-woofer.

Other Thoughts: Not having a remote, or even a I/R receiver, limits it's use to PC and small media devices. The corded sub isn't as cool for watching movies, where you want the bass behind you. This is a PC sound bar. (Had it hooked to TV because new toy.)

4 out of 5 eggsRead The Manual, Not The Comments

Pros: Compact design
Wonderful industrial design
Multitude of input options

Cons: Virtual 5.1 is weak (my reason for 1 less egg)

Other Thoughts: Having gone from the Logitech Z323 system, which I had been using it as a speaker system for my desktop, and laptop (via integrated Line In), this system took a bit of re-configuring to accomplish the same task. Audio from my desktop is going out via Optical; audio from my laptop, is going into my Motherboard via Line In, then out via the same Optical line; audio for my Razer Tiamat 7.2 are still going through standard analogue. All three systems are online and functional at the same time.

Automatic shut off? Well, sure, if you don't use it for longer than 20 minutes, why have it on? That being said, it's not going to turn off randomly when playing a game, or watching a video. But if you take a trip to the store to get stocked up on your 'Dew and 'Ritos, it might turn off before you get back. Or, if you happened to have had some really disagreeable food, you might get stuck in the restroom for longer than 20 minutes.

The system is very straight forward, but there are some things (such as turning down the bass), that aren't immediately available to read. This requires you to either search online for it, or go to the Razer Support page and download the extended user manual.

1 out of 5 eggsRevised Review Don't Buy

Pros: It sounded great and I was blown away and gave it 5 Eggs.

Cons: And then it started shutting off by itself. I RMA'd the unit and had my hopes up and then yup, it started shutting off again.

Razer has since advised me "The Leviathan will auto shut down to save power when there is no audio output for about 15 to 20 minutes. This feature is inbuilt and it (is) not be able to be turned off.

I don't care about saving power, trees or the universe - it is now in the trash can because I couldn't rely on it to even beep to let me know a message had come it.

Other Thoughts: Such a powerful system and good company name ruined because some twit decided it needed a power saving mode and nothing mentioned in the documentation anywhere about it.
