USB Condenser Microphone

The MXL USB.008, in addition to being a great announcer's mic, is also well suited for all types of music and live sound effects. It's an all-around high performance USB computer microphone. The mic uses a large 32mm condenser capsule that gives pristine audio quality not possible with electrets or dynamic mics. The MXL USB.008 opens up a new era of high-quality recording direct to a portable or desktop computer. No mixers, pre-amps or special studio gear required. Just plug into your computer, set your preferences, and enjoy instant, professional quality recordings. The MXL USB.008 is Mac® and PC compatible. It has this solid feel and I know this thing is gonna last awhile. The free loot that comes with it is pretty swell too; the desktop stand is solid and the included USB cable is plenty long and not-cheap feeling. Cons: When I first plugged it in to my Win7 box, the OS changed my default speakers device to the microphone. I suspect this is Microsoft's problem, not MXL's, but in any case it took a whole ten seconds to switch back and it hasn't been a problem since. Other Thoughts: You will need to purchase your own pop filter. Also, it's a condenser mic so care is advised. But you're here looking at a high-dollar mic rather than the cheap plastic ten dollar junk, so you know that already. 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful. Did you?
