5 out of 5 eggsGreat sound!

Pros: I'm no expert on audio, but I know how my music should sound! These 2 speakers that include tweeters really hit those highs and mids for clear sound. The subwoofer is an absolute monster(possibly an exaggeration)! The sub works best when faced towards where you are sitting and the same goes with the speakers; line them up on a B line to your ears and they sound great!

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: Have only used the default sound settings. The others don't seem to be anything special.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding Value

Pros: In daily use for more than three years, mostly at moderate volume, without a hitch. Build quality of all components is impressive. Subwoofer is solid - no buzzing or rattling.

Excellent sound quality driven from Realtek ALC889 analog output. The SP2500 satellites rival monitor speakers costing three times as much. The silk dome tweeters have a very smooth sound that is ideal for the close-distance listening in a computer scenario. Satellite amps are also very good. I plug my Grado SR-325 ($350) headphones directly into the Realtek, then into the SP2500 headphone jack. Sound quality from the SP2500 is almost the same as the straight Realtek (which is very good to start with). Note that the Grados are low impedance headphones. The SR2500's will drive my high impedance Sony MDR-CD160 phones easily wheras the ALC889 can't.

Plenty of clean power. I have the subwoofer located in the corner of a bedroom. This location gives +9dB of bass - all that is sanely needed in this environment.

A nice surprise is the DSP and EQ programs. The DSP programs work well - comparable to my Yamaha Home Theater Receiver (which cost 2x as much as the SP2500). The EQ programs are simple, not parametric, but works well.

The control console is easy to use. It has a separate subwoofer level that helps fine-tune the system to the room environment.

Cons: None - good job Corsair!

Other Thoughts: I wish that Corsair would offer a 5.1 version.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: These speakers are seriously loud. I would say even louder than my cars audio system - which has a premium Bose system - with all the windows closed. If you were throwing a house party, these speakers would be an ample source of music. You simply wont believe the sound that comes out of these speakers.

Crisp and clear from the lowest to the highest volumes. Bass is strong, especially with the Dynamic Pop program. You can feel the bass through the floor from upstairs. Even at lower volumes, bass is still full and strong.

A few program and EQ settings to fine tune your sound.

Separate controller for power, volume and other settings is convenient. It also leaves the speakers looking nice and clean with no lights or knobs on them.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The box says 232 watts and the booklet, which has the same exact graphic on it, says 220 watts. Not sure why, but you won't care either once you fire these speakers up.

Comes with two satellite (speaker) stands, for aiming the speakers more directly towards your ears, and a few rubber feet that are used to mount your controller to your desk if you so choose.

When I first tested these speakers for volume, my wife (who was upstairs) was shocked to hear how loud they were and even commented that she thought the basement door was open.

I have a ROG Xonar Phoebus Solo sound card in my rig. I used the speaker system once just to test a before and after installation of a sound card and it is noticeably louder with one (of course).

These speakers are fantastic on their own, but mated with a sound card, they're simply amazing.

5 out of 5 eggsUnderpriced?

Pros: Very clean highs. Powerful lows. All around clarity.

Comes with a wonderful controller unit that has separate dials for bass and volume as well as EQ, Mode, and Line In options. Very easy to use. Doesn't take up too much space. Attractive design.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: I wasn't aware how subpar my old speakers were until I heard these. I honestly think they might even sound better than the Bose system in my car, which is outstanding.

Didn't know Corsair made speakers before a buddy suggested I get these when I mentioned I was looking to replace my old Logitech 5.1 setup. He got the SP2500 set after coming form the same Logitech set that I had and said that they were some of the best computer speakers he had ever heard. Very pleased that I trusted his judgement.

The only issue I have found is that switching from Late Night Mode (sub off) back to default has to be done twice to get the sub to turn back on. It's a minor annoyance that could likely be fixed with a firmware update.

5 out of 5 eggsthese are the best speakers ive ever owned

Pros: These can go as loud as anyone would need them to go and beyond, with great clarity.

the "remote" is very convenient for turning the sound up or down while the screen is fullsized in a movie or game without having to revert back to the desktop

the cables are high quality and not those cheap cables that tangle easily.

Cons: no cons

Other Thoughts: more than happy with these speakers.

1 out of 5 eggsDefect in Corsair speakers

Pros: Will work for a while.

Cons: Corsair speakers have an inherent defect where the left speaker will start to crackle like static after 1-2 years of use, first identified in the SP2200. I contacted them about this and was told my warranty expired. You can google it, there is DIY out there about how to take them apart as a workaround.

I've looked through the comments here, some folks are experiencing the same. I wouldn't pay $250 for speakers that were not going to work in two years. Speakers should last forever if you don't blow them.

Other Thoughts: Save yourself some cash and get the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 for $149. I have a pair of those as well and never had a problem. I regret purchasing Corsair speakers, and will never do so again.

5 out of 5 eggs3-1/2 Years Strong

Pros: Loud. Real loud. Much much louder than you think it will be.
Punchy bass with clear highs.
Seriously, if you live in an apartment complex your neighbors, and possibly their neighbors, are going to NOT LIKE YOU!

Cons: Older models are famous for control unit failure.

Other Thoughts: On/Off button failed on mine after about two years.
Corsair cross-shipped a replacement without even running an authorization on my credit card.
Driving mine with an Asus 7.1 soundcard using its graphic equalizer.
Great product even at $250.

Pros: great audio

Cons: left speaker died after about a year and a half

Other Thoughts: for 250 bucks this speaker system should be built to last at least 5 years not 2 if your lucky

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Sound

Pros: Great sound, even at the lowest volume settings.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I've looked at other systems and those with just 2 speakers (no subwoofer). Without jumping up a tier in price to something costing 2x as much, this seems to be the best product in this price range.

I realize others have had issues after 1-1 1/2 years of ownership, which ties into my biggest complaint/fear with this unit. It is extremely easy to leave this running if your PC isn't actively playing sound. I get up and walk away from my PC all the time and forget to turn this off. Part of me wonders, if some of the issues that are experienced after 1-1.5 years aren't from the same thing - essentially having this unit run 24x7 (even if no sound is playing).

Yes you've read about it in other reviews, but the subwoofer is bigger than you'd think. If you're worried about space - measure first.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: Great sound, best PC sounding system out there

Cons: On my 2nd one. 1st failed after 1 1/2 years. Woofer just died. Power or crossover no idea. RMA shipping is cost prohibitive. Bought a refurb replacement direct from Corsair. 2nd one was dead on arrival. At this point decided to see if 1could be made from 2. The refub crossover had caught fire and actually melted the subwoofer speaker connector. Smelled nothing when it was first turned on so I think it came that way.

Other Thoughts: If you want this speaker system research first on issues. Plenty out there.
