4 out of 5 eggsGood Scanner for the price

Pros: Quick, accurate and most often reliable, have scanned up to 60 double sided pages with no problem

Cons: The location where pages are dropped is not reliable, sometimes pages get mixed and they drop off the device.

Other Thoughts: It does feel a bit fragile since it doesn't weight a lot, but now reaching the first 1k pages its going all fine. SW included is a bit complicated to use.

4 out of 5 eggsHP Scanjet 3000

Pros: Small, light and easy to install within Win7 both 32 and 64 bit with Nuance free software

Cons: a little slow on duplex. Most software just uses default settings which makes switching between duplex and simplex scanning awkward.

3 out of 5 eggsBad/Poor Feeder quality

Pros: Small compact, fast and cheaper from Fujitsu Fi scanners and

Cons: When scanning standard size papers the feeder works fine. but when scanning small papers (ie receipts) too many paper jams. And it does not always scan straight.

Other Thoughts: I own three different models, Fujitsu fi-6130, fi6120 and just got this HP 3000 Pro because of the price. And compared to the Fujitsu scanners this scanner does not meet the quality and the performance. If you have $$$ look into Fujitsu scanners, don't waste time on this unit.

5 out of 5 eggsOffice workgroup scanner

Pros: We've had three of these in our offices for close to a year; one of which is a somewhat dirty shipping/receiveing office in the factory. They're much faster than a consumer flatbed scanner and have worked great for us on our Windows XP and now Windows 7 computers. The generic HP software works good, the included OmniPage and PaperPort are even more capable. All in all, it does exactly what we'd hoped for in a document scanner. We have them installed on specific users computers and one on a standard PC in a common area and it gets used at least once a day for anything from a single half-page paper Topps form, to a 15 page legal-size document. We can scan to numerous output formats, we usually use PDF, and organize the files or submit them electronically to wherever needed.

Cons: to be fair and full disclosure, occasionally it won't pull the page edge down evenly and the scan is a little skewed. The included software improves it, but sometimes it will still be a degree or two skewed from horizontal. But it's never been a real problem for us and no one but me, the picky IT perfectionist guy, notices.

Other Thoughts: We fully intend to buy more of these as needed, and I will probably get one for my own home use too.
