An advanced flatbed scanner for demanding photo-and-film tasks, Epson's Perfection V750-M Pro is a top-flight Perfection scanner. It uses Epson's Color MatrixCCD (Charge-Coupled Device) sensor and Dual Lens System that automatically selects from two lenses for the desired scan resolution. The result is the ability to create scans with resolutions up to a remarkable 6,400dpi resolution and 48-bit color depth, giving you precise color and detail, whether scanning slides, negatives or medium format film.
An enhanced optical system (High-Pass Optics) with anti-reflective lens coatings and a high-reflection mirror helps you achieve faster scans while preserving image quality. With Epson's Digital ICE Technologies you can easily remove dust and scratches from film, and many types of surface defects from prints, minimizing costly retouching. And, with the convenient film holders included, you can even batch scan multiple slides and negatives to increase productivity.
The unit features both FireWire and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connections. A full software suite is included featuring LaserSoft Imaging SilverFast SE 6, Adobe Photoshope Elements, ABBYY FineReader Sprint Plus OCR, Epson Copy Utility, and Epson Scan with Epson Easy Photo Fix Technology (Epson Scan and LaserSoft Imaging SilverFast SE 6 will run on Windows XP x64 Edition).
Pros: I have used several Epson scanners (3200, 4870, 4990, and now the V750-M). I am very pleased with this one as it surpasses, in many ways, the other scanners--both optically as well as technically. This is a great scanner and the included software is decent as well. SilverFast AI and the color calibration software is acceptable.
Cons: Not the best value for the money. Seems that it should be a bit less expensive for what the product is.

Amazingly good scanner

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Excellent resolution, dual lens system deals with slide or other small originals as well as full-page scans, fast and sharp, wide range of carriers including wet neg scan, good included software. Definitely worth the price.
Cons: Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 included (current version is 5.0 and you really need 5.0 or full Photoshop if you need Photoshop at all), ICE unuseable on slides, wet mount carrier fell apart from use of fluid (but replaced immediately and now fine)
Other Thoughts: After 1000 scans+ of slides, prints from 1800s on, ambrotypes, all sizes of negatives I have not had one bad result caused by the scanner. It pulls out detail you wouldn't believe could be there. I searched long and hard for a scanner that could do 120, 127, postcard size etc. negs as well as 12 slides at once, 4 35mm strips (with individual settings for each frame) etc. This is it.

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: It has impressive stats with big price tag (almost a little too big), but software is nice.
Cons: VERY POOR Tech Support, might as well buy a new one right away if you need to bring it in for repair as you are gonna be without yours for a LONG TIME. Everything was fine with mine until a couple months in I noticed a slight shift in some shades of colors (Input/Output response wasn't linear anymore) and I emailed tech support. After waiting a WEEK, they told me to bring it into a local tech place, I did. Long story short, I went ONE MONTH without my scanner for various EPSON reasons and for my trouble they gave me a new one (which they should have done anyway because they couldn't fix mine).
Other Thoughts: I'm not buying Epson again, completely due to their tech support.
