2 out of 5 eggsMissing USB Cable - debris on screen

Pros: The quality of the scanning was very good. The speed was reasonable. The size of the unit was Ok. Slim.

Cons: The ABYY (sp?) character recognition software locked all of my microsoft office 365 products. After uninstalling and reinstalling Office, which took a lot of time, the problem wasn't solved. I ended up having to pay for Microsoft support and for a tech to help me solve what the problem was.. If you have Windows 7, don't install the additional software provided on the disc.
I searched and searched and for the life in me, I didn't receive a USB cable with my product. After using it a few days I also noticed debris on the underside of the glass which of course ruined every single scan with a blemish. Very annoying. I have a suspicion i was mailed a product that was returned once already. Shame on new egg :(. The return process was fairly simple, but who likes repacking and the time it takes to do so, print the label, and then drive to UPS store.. All out of pocket expense and mainly a time waster. And, to make sure I wasn't hassled about the return, I gave them MY USB cable I found in a drawer with unused cables.. thank fully I had one!

Other Thoughts: I like Epson products. The software interface was decent, with lots of nice output options. I thought I was purchasing an 11x17 scanner format, but I apparently misread the product specs.

4 out of 5 eggsPerfection?

Pros: Used for scanning photos and documents, does a five star job.

Cons: Power switch is a pain to reach and find, located on lower left side at the back. Minus one star.

Other Thoughts: Easy interface, simple control. But perfect? Only if it lasts forever.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat scanner, with Vuescan

Pros: Great scanner at this price point. It can handle anything I can throw at it, short of 11x14 pictures.

Cons: The included Epson Scan software is decent, but if you really want to have full control over the scanner, you'll want to get dedicated scanning software. Also, it would be nice if you could adjust the focus instead of having to use shims.

2 out of 5 eggsNice Scanner, but...

Pros: Good quality scans, seems to be solidly built and sturdy. The software is simple for scanning and easy to use.

Cons: Severely limited on depth of scans. With a machine using 32GB of RAM and SSDs for swaps files, you are limited to the depth of scan you can do. You will gt an error that there is not enough memory to scan anything over a low pixel scan.

Other Thoughts: Great for everyday use and easy to use for people looking to just scan an image at a time or documents. Do not buy if you want to do some intensive graphic scanning.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent purchase

Pros: Excellent scan quality from negatives.

Scanner software splits and rotates scans and automatically numbers multi-image scans.

Dust reduction, color correction and digital ICE work well

Reasonably speedy scans

Cons: Scanning large format negatives is somewhat cumbersome - I can fit three on at a time.

Other Thoughts: I'm in the process of scanning several thousand old photos and negatives and decided to upgrade from my old trusty xerox to hopefully get better quality and increase my workflow efficiency. The V600 has allowed me to do all this. The quality of scans of my 35mm negatives is impressive, and the scanner software allows me to automatically split, rotate and name photos with accuracy; speeding up my scanning chores. Overall I'm very happy with the V600.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW

Pros: the best I have seen for negative film scans. on old medium format (folding camera and Brownie, not pro) negatives of family photos, the image is better than the old prints I have

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I have lots of negatives of family photos from the 1930'-1960's. the original prints are not always in the best of shape, and I want to make copies for other family members. since I am not motivated to set up a dark room again and make prints, I have been trying my old scanner (about 1/6 the resolution) and then a combo digital camera to dupe. neither did negatives well. I am just overwhelmed on well this scanner handles BW negatives from junky old camers

1 out of 5 eggswaste of money

Pros: easy to install

Cons: terrible resolution, no film adjustments in interface, need to buy SilverFast or VueScan if you want a decent film scan.
Costs way too much for the quality of the scans.

Other Thoughts: bought this to 'upgrade' my 3 yr old EPSON 4490's film scanning capabilities, guess what? they're worse, blurred and full of artifacts. performed A-B onthe two scanners with same slide, settings (4800dpi) professional mode, all enhancements turned off. complete waste of money, buy the V300 for half the price and you'll never know the difference. looked at the V500 which seems comparable to the 4490, excep[t too many reviews say theirs died after a year. Guess I'll just stick with what I have. Buy a 4490 on an auction site if you want a decent scanner cheap.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat High Quality Scanner For Price

Pros: 64000DPI Scan. On Prints i only scan 800 dpi and the quility is amazing, also makes it easier to use in Photoshop (included with printer is Photoshop Elements 9). The Auto Color correct and dust removal works Great, adds great Natural Colors from older Color lost Prints and Negatives.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Still working with the Digital Ice software, was scanning Parents wedding album. The Pictures over time have cracked. Digital Ice was able to take out about 75% of the scratches Rest need to use Photoshop.
You will need alot of HDD space to use this scanner. If you plan to scan all old Prints. I am already up to 40GB of Photos.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Scanner - Rotten policy

Pros: Nice unit, easily installed, good software package.

Cons: A one touch copy would be a nice addition.

Other Thoughts: It's a shame that Newegg will not adjust a price when a competitor sells the same product $26.00 less, and no tax, no shipping. Guess that Newegg will not be my first stop in the future! Product gets 5 eggs, Newegg gets 1 and that is because I got what I ordered, and that is worth something.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Scanner

Pros: I got it to scan in Photos. Scans everything including photos, text, magazines, newspapers, & etc. It's fully adjustable for resolution & dpi. 100% better then any All-in-One Inkjet/Deskjet unit that's on the market.

Cons: Almost none other then I wish that it were upgradeable to USB3.

Other Thoughts: None
