4 out of 5 eggsLiDE 700F

Pros: Cheap, easy to set up, lots of features.

Cons: In my experience Canon scanners in this price range tend to wear out after about 3 years. 5 years would have garnered 5 eggs, but 3 years does not quite cut it.

5 out of 5 eggsWell worth the money

Pros: Small light, compact design. Very, very fast for what it's doing. Purchased this to replace my aged HP 3750c scanner, and am astounded at the slide quality. This scanner rocks negatives! Easy to use, twain aquire plugin for photoshop, good software, excellent color quality, no power cord.

Cons: Found that the supplied plastic adapter for the slides tends to move out of place, so you have to check it every time you re-position the slide lamp, but other than that, not much to complain about.

Other Thoughts: I've been in I.T. for years, and the computer industry for over 20 (I'm one of the older guys) I remember the days of the epson, hp, and Agfa drum scanners, I also remember the $1500 slide scanners not just 10 years ago. I can't believe the quality of this for the price, it rivals most of them. Size and speed cant be beat.

5 out of 5 eggsHuge improvements

Pros: HUGE performance increase over the LiDE 60! Scans 600 dpi in 5 seconds!

Cons: Just wish now I bought a model with page feeder to scan multiple pages.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It's a good price, easy to install, great scan quality, and usb powered. Cannon always stays up to date on drivers and they have solid scanners. Bought this to replace a scanner that did not have Windows 7 support.

Cons: It's a little louder than normal.

Other Thoughts: I have had a Cannon Canoscan 4200f for almost 7 years now and it has always been great.

3 out of 5 eggsNo Fluorescent Colors

Pros: Great scanner for the average user.
Scans printed media and pictures good.

Cons: Can not reproduce Fluorescent paper colors. Astrobrights for example, Rocket Red, will turn out almost exactly like pink.

The software is not programmed to use anything higher then 600dpi. You have to manually type the dpi using the advance settings in the ScanGear program.

Other Thoughts: Would be nice if the colors were more accurate especially for the fluorescent types.
Had to return scanner.

Newegg Eggcellent as always!

4 out of 5 eggsDoes a good job

Pros: Light weight, no extra power cords to lug around, fast, scans great

Cons: Scans from negatives take a LONG time! If you are looking to archive negatives you might want to look elsewhere. Though by the same token if you are not in a hurry and only doing one or two negatives it does this just fine. Scans from a negative compared to the original picture look fairly similar so not much quality loss there. The out of the box software is lacking. I us a mac and if you do too id recommend install the softwhere as much as you need to but then ditch it and go with Image Capture already installed on most Mac's, you will have so much more control! The buttons on the face plate are more for show and don't seem to work as well as they advertise them to, again, Image Capture is so much faster and easier to use. If i had one more complaint or concern is that as a travel scanner it seems like it cant take much abuse, it has a scan bar lock which i use when i travel but have had to put a huge sticky note on the front so i dont forget when i turn it on and burn out the drive.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for some family history i am doing, where people don't want to give up their photos and this is a great travel scanner for the price. I can make a quick scan lab in seconds with my laptop. Would also be great for use say in a library scanning things for a project.
