USB so no Kofax or other high-speed SCSI card needed. Cons: Color. Yeah, I know, but really if you're scanning documents in B&W (not even grayscale) mode you generally don't want to pay for a color scanner. Cannon no longer makes a scanner in this class that isn't color, and honestly the color on this thing sucks. You don't use this type of scanner for scanning photographs. Pros: Pretty fast, pretty stable, comes with decent software for scanning to TIFF or PDF. USB so no Kofax or other high-speed SCSI card needed.

Cons: Color. Yeah, I know, but really if you're scanning documents in B&W (not even grayscale) mode you generally don't want to pay for a color scanner. Cannon no longer makes a scanner in this class that isn't color, and honestly the color on this thing sucks. You don't use this type of scanner for scanning photographs.

Other Thoughts: Bought one to replace an aging DR-7580. Does the same job for more money.
