4 out of 5 eggsA tried & true workhorse, this is our 2nd scanner

Pros: Reliable. Good software. Not cheaply constructed. Scans are good & colors appear true. Acceptable for scanning photos, but I think a photo scanner can do better. Runs on Windows XP-7 x32 (haven't tried on Windows 8 or on a x64 system).

Cons: Auto sheet feeder can be quirky. Sometimes it misaligns producing a black bar on the bottom of the scan. Cleaning doesn't help. If quality is paramount, then I just use the glass instead. Sheet feeder sometimes gets "hungry" so I flare the paper & hold the pages with one hand while they feed through.

Other Thoughts: Our office bought the first of this scanner back in 2008 & it was used on XP. Then we upgraded to Windows 7 x32. No problem. We then moved it to another part of the office to a computer running Vista. No problem. Then bought this one from Newegg in 2014. We had no qualms about buying an old product since we had one already that performed reliably for many years. The price came waaaay down since it first came out so this purchase felt like a steal.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Sheetfed Scanner

Pros: Quality build, feels solid.

Easy to get jammed paper out of ADF, seeing if you buy this you will be doing it often.

Cons: This scanner could not complete a stack of 'sheetfed' scans.
It would jam consitently, Crumpling the paper, but not destroying it.

Other Thoughts: Dont buy.
