Need to scan documents when on the road? Most scanners are too bulky to carry. They also have too many wires and are unable to stay functional from the constant movements. Visioneer's RW120 is the answer to this problem. At a petite size of 2" x 1.5" x 11.4" it'll fit in a laptop carry bag with no trouble.

It's battery powered, so all you need is a single USB cable from computer to scanner. This scanner was specifically designed for travel, so it's up to the rigors that go with it.

A scanner is only as useful as the quality of the scan, so Visioneer gave this scanner 36-bit color depth to catch every nuance of your documents. It is so small you could overlook it, but so necessary that you'll never forget it on your next trip.

  • newegg Superior Mobility The lightweight, low-profile Visioneer RW120-WU helps to keep your bills, business cards, receipts and all your paper mess organized anywhere you go. The scanner is fully powered via the USB connection without the need for a power cord.
  • newegg Scan Directly to PDF With the PDF conversion capability, the Visioneer RW120-WU scanner converts scans into searchable PDF files directly! Searchable PDF provides the simplest way to categorize all the documents and allows you to obtain the necessary files quickly.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: If you travel and need to turn around a document with a signature or correction, this will get the job done. Very compact and easy to use.

Cons: alignment is little off but that is not to bad an issue

Other Thoughts: This unit coupled with the HP 470 printer is my office on the road. It was recomended by a friend and I'm not disappointed

5 out of 5 eggsRoadWarrior is great

Pros: This scanner is awesome. The automatic scanning, lack of need for external power, portability and quality resultant PDF are excellent.

Cons: maybe not the greatest for autocropping. I cna live with that.

Other Thoughts: Buy one, just don't forget to mail in your rebate!

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Thing I Ever Purchased

Pros: Small and doesn't require a power supply

Cons: It is a sheet-fed scanner that cannot scan sheets

Other Thoughts: I bought this to move from a Visioneer Strobe sheet-fed scanner on my Mac to use the New PD I purchased. The older Strobe worked great on my Mac. This new Road Warrior is totally worthless. The rollers grip the paper so weakly that the invoices, stock confirmations, and anything that comes folded in an envelope WILL NOT SCAN. The simple creases in the paper from being folder cause the scanner to twist the paper at an angle when it reaches the rollers.

What good is a scanner that cannot scan single sheets that have been tri-folded in an envelop?

2 out of 5 eggsVisioneer Roadwarrior not all it could be

Pros: USB Powered makes great portability and small footprint are great. Good quality on the color and actual scanning.

Cons: Pathetic paper size detection/cropping. I was replacing a (still functioning) PaperPort Strobe because my new computer didn't have a parallel port and this newer product is very disappointing in comparison. The Strobe always detected and cropped any size scan (from receipt, business card to legal paper). The Roadwarrior can't even get the size right when I manually set it to legal (it crops off the bottom inch or two.) I have used both scanners with Paperport and get the same results as with other scanning. Must be the drivers, because some TWAIN requests from Java based online programs are actually well cropped. Also skewing is worse than with the older scanner.

Other Thoughts: I would rather have a parallel port scanner that works than this USB version that doesn't. If only Visioneer cared enough about their product to re-write the drivers to work as well as the ones written over a decade ago, I would happily give this scanner a "5". As is, its only a "2"

5 out of 5 eggsIt DOES work with Vista--no problem!

Pros: portable, powered by USB, bundled with great software, scans quickly, even photos look great. with current rebate I got it for $xxx shipped.

Cons: none so far. It is everything I expect a portable scanner to be.

Other Thoughts: others have written that they can't get this to work with Vista, but i haven't had a single problem. They obviously didn't follow instructions at
Or, just call visioneer tech support, fax them your proof of purchase and they'll send you CDs.

1 out of 5 eggsVista users beware!

Pros: Tiny, fits right next to my notebook in the padded compartment of my case. Flat black. Auto-feed feature is neat...

Cons: Only BETA drivers are available for Windows Vista, and they are not very good. After install, all it would give me was blackness when scanning. According to Visioneer, this is from a corrupted calibration file. Unfortunately, the BETA software crashes when you try to recalibrate or clean. Visioneer's solution to this is to install a certified, non-BETA driver... great.

Other Thoughts: This may well be a great product under 2000/XP. Unfortunately, lack of (stable) Vista support makes it worthless to anyone purchasing one of the newer, faster, comprably small notebooks with Vista-only features.

4 out of 5 eggsRoad Warrior scanner

Pros: Hardware works fine. USB power is great for true portability. Comes with Omni Page Pro.

Cons: Paper port really stinks. It has prolems reading network drives if they have been remapped. File hierarchy is confusing. Way too complicated and confusing.

Other Thoughts: Recommend not loading paper port but just loading the 'One Touch' software that actually runs the scanner. This coupled with Omni Page Pro give full scanning and OCR functionality. Load 'One Touch' from the msi on the CD to avoid automatic installation of paper port. It is located here: D:\Scanner Driver\English\onetouchinstall.msi
