just sits thre and spins, only one feed roller probably the main problem. they supply with an additional take up feed so clearly they are aware of poor design.

problme is fujitsu is not TWAIN. Really a market here for someone that can make a useable scanner!

Other Thoughts: We have 6 of these scanners in our office and they have done wonders since adding them. We started off with only 2 to test it out and have been adding more over the year. It especially works great coupled with a network USB server (although it does run a little slower then when directly connected to a pc). Our office also uses these scanners in our quest for a paperless office and they have functioned great, especially with the large load they handle on a daily basis. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a low cost, high volume document scanner. As mentioned before, I would not buy this scanner for photo scanning. By design it was meant to be used for documents.

Cons: Not compatible with my EHR software. When I called tech support, they told me to call my EHR. When I called my EHR, they told me to call the scanner people. I just got so frustrated I returned it.

Likes to jam up papers when scanning into a pdf.

Other Thoughts: I do not recommend this product if you are in a medical office.

Pros: Simple to operate. Can scan both sides of a page at once. Effienent file sizes, especailly on medium to low resolution B&W PDF. Can create a searchable pdf files that allows you to scan a document then use the find option in adobe to search text. Can scan directly to e-mail, printer, or just save to a network. Small footprint on the desk. Lots of settings to control resolution and file type.

Cons: When I purchased it in 2008 the software required an additional download and install of an updated version to make it work on Vista. There was no cost for this upgrade and it may not still be an issue, but it did take a little extra effort and time.

Other Thoughts: Our office owns 5 of these and we're buying more so each employee can have one on their desk. We're in the process of going paperless using this device as the workhorse.
Don't try to use it as a photo scanner. It is not designed for that and as the one of the other reviewers noted it may damage your photos in the mechanical feeders. In the manufacturer's defense it is marketed as a document scanner and designed around that purpose. You can use a bulldozer to plow snow off your driveway, but don't complain when it scratches the concrete. This scanner is perfect for high volume document scanning and archiving and is not suited for delicate photographs.

Cons: The scanner permanently scratched my photos while scanning. These scratch marks are picked up in the scans and projected as multicolored lines throughout the image. I called the Visioneer Company about this defect and they were aware of the problem. I bought this scanner specifically to scan photos and am now returning it. I only used the scanner for scanning photos.

Pros: This scanner is easy to use. Simplex or duplex scans can be made with the punch of a button. For color scans you have to access the program on the computer but that's no problem at all.

Cons: The warmup time the first time it is used in the morning is lengthy sometimes. This is not really a problem as long as you can wait on it.

Other Thoughts: We purchased these for a business. They work great. We now have quite a few of scanners and everyone likes them.
