4 out of 5 eggsBest scanner in its class but could be better

Pros: Fast
Excellent scan quality
Rarely jams and misfeeds, easy to clear when it does
Scans to your notebook or mobile device via WiFi
OCR accuracy is excellent

Cons: Cannot share over the network
Switching between WiFi and USB requires you to physically unplug USB cable.
Won't scan long pages after short pages.
Software runs in foreground only
OCR function not optimized

Other Thoughts: We've used ScanSnaps for years, they're great and the only desktop scanners I will buy. The hardware design is impeccable and if taken alone deserves 5 stars. It loses a star because software is always the weak point with Fujitsu. For example, you can't scan a job of mixed size pages unless the longest page comes first. If you have a short page followed by a long page, it throws an error. So you have to arrange your pages so that the longer pages precede the shorter ones, scan, then rearrange them in correct order using Acrobat or some other program. How stupid is that? The software is severely old school in that it insists on being the top foreground window and making you wait for the OCR to finish before you can scan again. Inefficient. Switching between WiFi and wired mode requires you to unplug the USB connector from the scanner. Goofy.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Worked right out of the box. It's fast and hasn't jammed much over the year that I have had this.

Cons: Software was a little bit confusing at first but it didn't take long to figure out.

Other Thoughts: I haven't used the wifi built into it so I can't comment on that.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent scanner

Pros: Extremely fast, good image quality, excellent included software, wireless

Cons: No TWAIN drivers. But I bought this to scan documents/reciepts, which it is designed for - no pictures. I'll use my AIO printer for that.

Other Thoughts: I tried the Neat system and their NeatConnect scanner before this. The scanner would constantly not grab the documents, and some that it did it would crumple to hell. The software was horrendous and their "cloud" processing was slow. Takes 30-45 seconds on my machine using the ABBYY Finereader vs 2-4+ minutes with Neat. And the big plus - I am not tied to a monthly or yearly fee. The lack of TWAIN at first made me cancel my order, but once I started looking into it more and saw WHAT it could do, I said instantly "that's EXACTLY what I want!". I can always use my AIO's Scanner bed and feeder for pictures, etc. - this is meant for Paperless conversion only, and that's fine. Overall just a great product!

1 out of 5 eggsNo twain or wia drivers

Pros: Seemed well put together, software installed successfully

Cons: Does not have WIA, ISIS or TWAIN drivers, which means it's not really a scanner in my book.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks better than the last model

Pros: I purchased this to replace the old Fujitsu scanner (which I really liked). The document feed on this new one works better. It is also better at detecting misfeeds.

Cons: Note that you need to download and install any software updates from the Fujitsu website. The software will say it is up to date when it is not.

4 out of 5 eggsThe best, but with issues

Pros: The sheet-feeding mechanism in the Fujitsu is simply the best in the industry -- they're known for it. The space-saving design is good, as is scanning to portable devices using WiFi.

Cons: The software flips pages arbitrarily, often when content is short. The in and out feeds could be larger/longer as legal pages often fall on the floor.
It would be nice if it could scan "unattended" so that mail could be scanned into PC-based client without intervention at the computer end, and sorted later.

Other Thoughts: It would be great if software could "learn" or be taught common media, like the pattern of a phone bill vs. credit card bill. I wouldn't even mind being up-sold better document management software. That and barcode location and decoding would be a great feature that is common in commercial scanning systems.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Scanner!

Pros: Easy to install and setup
Very easy to use
Wife approved!

Cons: Nothing major at this time, doesn't like receipts occasionally.

Other Thoughts: Wish it came with a management software for my PDFs - I have this scanner setup on a table at home with a spare PC. My wife and I throw our mail and receipts that we want to keep track on through it. Any mail or paper we want to keep a record of but not actually keep goes through it as well and then right into the shredder/recycle pile. It has helped us reduce the amount of paper clutter in the house.

We have probably 15-20 of these units at work and they work fantastic and that is the main reason I went with the iX500 for my home.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast - easy to use, compact so it doesn't take up a lot of desk space.
Love the fact that it scans both sides at the same time.

Cons: None at the moment.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent product

Pros: This unit is a workhorse, we have 20+ of these across 5 office locations. They are very reliable and rugged. This model is the latest in a long line of Fujitsu scanners and is the fastest in the Scansnap model line. This unit is also wireless and works great this way with smartphones, tablets, & laptops.

Cons: These units are not TWAIN compliant. They scan straight to a folder or application.

Other Thoughts: Definitely would recommend this product.
