4 out of 5 eggsI2600

Pros: Fast - Powerful Software high resolution great color double sided in on fast pass.

Cons: Web Site for SW and driver down loads is goes in circles does not remember the I want English software and manuals

Other Thoughts: Takes a fair amount of CPU power on the back end to process the pdf files - more tuning needed filer out blank back pages. Bought mine used for a tiny home office.

5 out of 5 eggsStop reading, just buy it

Pros: Consistent, high throughput; no paper jams - none; high quality scan.

Cons: Software

Other Thoughts: Just a fantastic piece of equipment. I'm used to printers, scanners, etc., jamming. Not this thing. I'm run countless types of paper through it (100 year old paper, or paper printed in the last year) and varying sizes and it handles them very well.

As a tip, when you run paper that is thin (like magazine paper) or paper that is old (like old cotton paper from an old book or an old Bible), increase the resolution and it will handle it just fine. I use Abbyy FineReader OCR instead of the Kodak software. I run color through at 600 at Best setting, and black and white at 600 dpi. This has worked best for me.

I clean the unit after ever few thousand papers and it has worked flawlessly. Using Fine Reader OCR, I can't recommend this Kodak unit enough.

5 out of 5 eggsThis ia a great alturnative to the Fujitsu fi-6130

Pros: Fast scanning, faster than the fi-6130. We own two fi-6130s and one fi-6240. this is as fast as fujitsu's fi- 6140.
Warm up time is reduced, due to no cold cathode discharge lamps. This uses LED s instead so it is more efficient.

Works well with Electronic Medical Records. Three year replacement warranty.

Cons: slightly noisier
