The OpticFilm 7600i SE from Plustek is an efficient way to digitize your 35mm negatives and slides. The compact scanner has a 7200x7200dpi resolution and 48bit color depth for incredibly accurate scans. Custom trays hold either 4 slides or one 6 frame negative strip.
The 7600i SE comes with SilverFast 6.6 iSRD to make image editing and clean up as efficient as possible. Infrared Smart Removal of Defects is a combination of hardware and software solutions to automatically remove minor flaws from the image including dust and scratches. This automatic removal lets you spend your valuable time on more important editing functions.
A fast USB 2.0 interface transfers the data quickly to your PC. Since it only weighs in at 3.5 pounds it is extremely portable if you want to use it in multiple locations. A custom carry bag is included to make transport easier.
kodachrome hell, E6 heaven
Pros: Ease of use, sharp scans
Cons: not kodachrome friendly, no native interface, bundled silverfast is a headache and badly dated.
Other Thoughts: My old Kodak RFS 3600 was usurped by my broke brother to scan his collection. Have to give Kodak credit for something, they made scanners that could deal with Kodachrome. Plustek is great for E6 I will admit, but Kodachromes come out dark with the famous blue cast. So I have to resort to Silverfast-

Good Hardware, Dubious Software
Pros: Seem like a solid-enough piece of hardware.
Cons: The software is an abomination. It looks and feels like it was programmed using Visual Basic from 1994 for Windows 3.11 and hasn't been updated since.
Other Thoughts: Does the job. Not an expensive piece of Hardware.
