1 out of 5 eggsScanner won't scan over 100 dpi

Pros: I love the size and portability, very easy to use. The price seemed reasonable.

Cons: In a very short time the scanner would jam and crash any scan over 100 dpi which is unacceptable for clear pictures.

Other Thoughts: I am glad it was discontinued

3 out of 5 eggsWorked great, until...

Pros: Loved the single USB data/power connection. It was quiet (until a month or so ago, now it squeaks, no big deal). Made great scans (until a few days ago, now there is a light vertical stripe in every color scan I take of a dark image). Light or white background images still scan correctly.

Cons: So, a few days ago, I was scanning some DVD cover art and a vertical light colored stripe appeared in all my images. It corresponds exactly to the metal track that sits under the glass and that the scanner bar slides on. Something happened to make this portion of the scanner show up in all my scans. Hopefully, Xerox will fix/replace my scanner under warrantee and I'll only be out the shipping costs.

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful

Very low price.

Cons: None whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: For me it is a perfect choice for occasionsal scanning.
Manufactured by Visioneer so you get Paperport software.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat sacnner and cheap price

Pros: light and portable, worked great in a few minutes.

Cons: USB connects on the side, next to the buttons, location is weird, you would expect the connection to be in the back. Scan a full page in color at 200dpi takes 30sec, and 300dpi takes 65sec. Seems a little slow, but not sure how fast the other scanners are. B&W is much quicker.

Other Thoughts: The scan area is A4, which is a little bigger than letter and smaller than legal. Did a google search of the model type, found vendor support page and downloaded the latest driver and software for Windows 7, and installed w/o any problem. The scan was failing when I used a USB port on the front of the PC, moved to a port off the motherboard and problem went away. Make sure your USB port can supply the full 500ma.

Pros: Great quality scan.Just press a button and it sends page to printer in about 5 seconds.Scans photos ver well comes with some nice software ScanSoft PaperPort 11 and ArcSoft software. It also downloads update drivers for best scan results. For fifty dollars it is a great bargain. For a first test.I scanned a dime, comes out large and crisp. As for documents .It works great .PaperPort haves a built in ocr .What else can you ask for for 50 dollars

Cons: no cons

Other Thoughts: Some people may not like this but I do.There is no power supply.Rins on one usb cable.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Scanner for the price

Pros: Very easy to use once you get it set up the way you want it. Good quality scans. I love the way it copies a document -- press a button, it shows the image generated as it scans, then sends it to your printer.

Cons: Documentation was not the clearest, but its not hard to figure out things yourself.

Other Thoughts: I've used it for 6 months now, and am still happy with it. I'm now ordering another as a present for my girlfriend. I just wish they (or someone) made a 8.5 x 14 version. I used a SCSI Umax 8.5 x 14 for many years until I upgraded to Vista (yes, Vista, even Vista64, works fine for me) and couldn't get a driver. It was great for scanning LP record jackets.

1 out of 5 eggsnot a fan of xerox

Pros: page scanners are usually provided with multipurpose printers cheaply.

but single page scanners seem to be pricy, so i would like to find one that exceeds standard paper size.

Cons: xerox is not customer friendly and routinely do not provide updated drivers. if i upgrade from might as well look for a new scanner.

has no power supply other than usb. thus it can fry the power supply.

Other Thoughts: perhaps, a usb hub with its own power supply, would be better than plugging the scanner right into the motherboard.

not sure if this is this product is worth the price. perhaps, if it were around 50 bucks and free shipping, then i would give zerox another chance.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Scanner

Pros: Fantastic scanner. The scan quality of pictures is the best that i've yet seen with any scanner that i've previously owned.

Cons: Two cons:
1-Scanning can be a bit slow at higher resolutions
2-The software is set to scan at approximately 300 dpi by default, which in my opinion is too low. Just right click and set up a custom scan option with the desired resolution.

Other Thoughts: The best scanner i've owned to date and it's very thin.

3 out of 5 eggsXerox USB scanner

Pros: Nice, light, fairly fast, crisp and quiet scanner with great potential. Lightweight and good-looking. Delivery was fast and packing very professional.

Cons: Draws power off USB port, so PC power supply must be real good. The software provided is completely useless as far as I can tell. I ended up using the Twain driver and Google Picasa to save images. Also, when I called Xerox for support, the first three yoyos I talked to had never heard of this scanner. I figured out the problem myself by reading while on hold.

Other Thoughts: This could be a killer scanner if made to work with regular software anything like that which came on the five scanners I have completely worn out since the eighties. Be sure you understand that USB does not mean as opposed to SCSI, but rather, no power adapter included, sucks amperage off the mother board.
