Transform your workspace into a space that works.

NeatDesk for Mac is the high-speed scanner and software combination that will help you clean off your desk and organize all your important information on the Mac.

  • newegg Lightning-fast scanning The award-winning ADF (automatic document feeder) scanner provides a central “inbox” for all the paper that normally clutters your workspace. Its unique paper input tray allows you to insert up to 10 receipts, 10 business cards and 10 full-size documents, and scan them all in a single batch. Or remove the tray to scan up to 50 letter-size pages at once. You can even perform double-sided scanning in a single pass. With the push of a button, your paper documents are transformed into high-quality digital files.
  • newegg Powered by NeatWorks for Mac software Once your paper is digitized, NeatWorks for Mac uses "Intelligent Text Recognition" technology to extract key data from your documents and populate key fields automatically in this robust digital filing system. By eliminating much of the data entry, you can turn a pile of receipts into an expense report in mere minutes. Or turn that stack of business cards into digital contacts and import them directly to Address Book. You can even scan any kind of document to produce a fully-searchable PDF file.
  • newegg A natural on the Mac NeatWorks for Mac was developed from the ground up to look and feel like the applications you use every day, and integrates seamlessly with the Mac OS. It features drag-and-drop functionality, Smart Collections, and is completely integrated with Spotlight - so you can find any file with a simple keyword search. You can even import electronic receipts or documents into NeatWorks simply by printing from any application.

2 out of 5 eggsMany problems

Pros: Small footprint and easy setup.

Cons: I have been using this Neat for a week now and have had frequent paper jams (about one out of three tries.) The paper feed needs to be improved.

I also signed up for the online syncing, but it stopped working after three days (the company responded with an answer for Windows, but I use a Mac and it was not helpful.)

I would not buy the desktop model again, but I would buy the mobile version and feed sheets one at a time. I also would not waste money on the online sync or iPhone App (it requires an additional monthly fee to work, which is an even bigger waste if you cannot sync.)

4 out of 5 eggsGood scanner, some quirks

Pros: - Color scanner with good resolution
- Automatic duplex scanning
- Automatic document feeder (ADF)
- Very good (but not perfect) software/filling system

Cons: - ADF is a little flimsy
- Quirky document auto-recognition
- No cloud integration (yet?)

Other Thoughts: This is a nice little home scanner system for de-cluttering your desk. The hardware is quite good and it scans at a nice resolution, click a button and it automatically scans both sides of a document at once. The ADF is flimsy compared to a commercial business one - I only trust it with 1-5 sheets at a time (compared to hundreds of pages for a good ADF)--it's about what I expect from an inexpensive home scanner, though.

The software is generally quite good and is updated frequently. It's OS X Lion compatible and the OCR is pretty good. The only issue is that it misclassifies documents sometimes--it tries to guess what a document is (a receipt, for example) and then detects the amount and type of products, etc. I've had it detect brochure as a receipt, with random numbers as the "amount". The other big issue is that there is no integration with any cloud service like Dropbox. You need the client software to access any documents.

5 out of 5 eggsNeatdesk scanner

Pros: The software is what makes this product. Great. Compatible with Quicken & Quickbooks. Small size.

Cons: non so far.

Other Thoughts: reviews are usually 5* or 1*. The product is updated regularly. You need to find reviews from Oct 2010 on. For example: it does have a small discharge paper tray.
