4 out of 5 eggsID Scanner

Pros: We have several of these scanners within the credit union to scan Photo IDs. I've only had one of these scanners go bad on me. Works great with both 64 Bit OS and 32 Bit OS.

Cons: Some of these cords are very sensitive. I have about 3 or 4 of them of the 15 that will lose connection with the slightest movement. One of these scanners has failed me altogether.

Other Thoughts: Overall these scanners are worth the money, ease of installation and do the job they were intended to do.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it. Buying more of them.

Pros: Installation was flawless, and the images are great. I get a perfect color 300dpi scan of an ID in a jpg and it comes in around 50k in size. Once I got the scanning area configured and set, the only thing my users have to do is open the idiotproof software, enter a doc name, and press scan.

Read the manual for the scan size customization and you can create a custom size that cuts off just right around the edges of the ID every time with no black bars.

Cons: None. Best $125 ever spent on an imaging accessory.

Other Thoughts: It's probably user error, but my Kofax scan suite always errors with invalid paper size selected when I try to use this thing's TWAIN interface. It's not really a problem though we just import the scanned image from the bundled software.

It grabs the ID when you put it in place which would be fine if the entry path was perpendicular to the rollers, but for some reason it's tapered with a slight curve so you have a split second when it touches the rollers to have it straight or it will grab it crooked and you have to rescan. If it wasn't so simple to see a mistake as it's scanning and just hit "rescan" this would have been a con but its really no big deal.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card scanner, or GREATEST card scanner?

Pros: Lighweight and compact, reliable, great looking scans.

Cons: Must keep up with your calibration sheets if you ever need to reinstall, does not mow the lawn or make its own pasta.

Other Thoughts: We use these for our installs in doctors' offices. Over the past year I've installed about 10-15 of these, and I've never had to touch them again. Just be sure to follow the setup instructions, and you'll be very happy with its performance.

Keep the calibration sheets in a safe place! If you ever have to reformat the computer because bored receptionists try to collect viruses like Pokemon, you will need to calibrate the scanner before it will work again.

4 out of 5 eggsIt Works

Pros: Does what it says it will do. Small and light weight with no power cord. Runs off USB power, a cool feature. Takes up very little space on my desk. Good quality once you calibrate it. (see cons)

Cons: The software is very cumbersum for what it is suppose to do. You do have to load the software to calibrate the machine. I just uninstalled it and am using windows wizard. Works great, and after you calibrate, and unload, you can use the button on the top to go straight to the wizard!
