5 out of 5 eggsFlawless device!

Pros: I had no problems with this device at all.

Cons: none
not stable at the 54b port.

Other Thoughts: I use it in the photostudio where dosens of HDDs being pluged in and unpluged everyday... I had NO problems with this device - the best I can say about it. I have 5 loptops - sony, HP, Lenovo. The card gives enough power to run 1 HDD without using any extra cables and if you use 2 HDDs simultaneously you'll need to use usb power cable. The amount of power wich can be supplied thru this card controlled by your loptop so don't blame the card if you HDD does not start.

3 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: If paired with the proper USB 3.0 drives, fast

Cons: Requires external power - no bus power via the express card slot

Other Thoughts: I had high hopes for this adapter. This is actually the third USB 3.0 express card adapter I have bought. Sadly, the first one, a Buffalo Tech, is the only one to actually provide enough power for one pocket drive. Unfortunately for that one, it seems to require a specialized AC pin to power it. The Koutech was suppose to provide power, but doesn't. In short, if you are willing to use AC power (USB power from a 2.0 port is not enough)' it's a good addition. Unfortunately, having to add external power seems an oxymoron for a laptop.

3 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Fits in expresscard/34 slot

Cons: Same speed as esata

Other Thoughts: I tested this on a Dell Precision M4500 and used the same seagate goflex drive--just swapped seagate cables for USB3 and esata for each test.

The time to run a Win7 system image exactly the same for both interfaces.

I dont know if this is a known quantity (ie USB3 doesnt really run any faster), but hopefully this might help someone decide.

Would like to hear if anyone has different results using the PCI Express 2.0 cards

5 out of 5 eggsGreat idea and implementation

Pros: This may be the best product I ever purchased from Newegg. The design is brilliant, because the express card is powered with the USB 5v cable, e.g. one USB port. And, it only takes one USB 3.0 cable each and you can run two drives on USB 3.0. The Koutech USB 3.0 2.5 chassis with this cable are at least as fast, if not faster, than my eSATA on the same drives and ExpressCard slot in my laptop. With an old SSD (no cmd queue) I get over 100MB/s reads.

Cons: I am not sure why the ExpressCard requires the extra 5v power from one USB port, or if it depends on the type(s) of drives we are running on USB 3.0.

Other Thoughts: The USB 2.0 5v power cable is not intrusive because it allows me to chain a device in the USB 2.0 port with it. This product totally rocks with the Koutech IO-EEU230 2.5" Black USB 3.0 External Enclosure, also sold here at Newegg.

4 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: -drivers included
-drivers work
-card works

Cons: -card is a bit flimsy (where the plastic meets the metal), so just be careful not to snap the usb ports off

Other Thoughts: -quick atto benchmark with the buffalo 1tb ext usb 3.0 hd shows that writes are about 4x faster and reads are about 2x faster than usb 2.0
