3 out of 5 eggsIt's great when it Works

Comments: I've already RMA'd this unit once, and I might do it again soon (and I've only had it 5 months). The first time the router just died; it got locked in a reset loop, and nothing Tech Support suggested could make it do anything. So RMA, they put in a new Flash chip, and send it back (after paying for shipping and waiting 2 WEEKS!). Now two of the Ethernet ports have gone out, so I'm down to just 2 (plus the broadband and wireless). I have also had trouble (after the RMA) with the Wireless just quiting for no reason. When it does work though, it's fast, has good range, and the Firewall is near perfect. One other note, if your DSL Modem defaults to being a DHCP server, like mine, make sure you can turn that off, or the Router will constantly keep changing the IP of the subnet, and thus disconnecting everyone until they renew their leases.

5 out of 5 eggsFinally, a stable router!

Comments: After having 2 different linksys routers, and a D-Link, I'm glad I have finally found the Gigabyte! I guess I tend to stress out routers hosting multiple web sites, and e-mail server, ftp server, and then start downloading torrents from a workstation with hundreds of connections. The 2 Linksys routers would lock up every day or so and need a reboot, and the D-Link would loose it's mind within minutes!

I've had the Gigabyte in place for a week now with 0 issues! Not only is it not locking up, I also noticed that torrents are coming down a LOT faster.

I also noted the wireless range is far superior than the D-Link and Linksys wireless routers. I get full 108 mbps downstairs and on the other side of the house whereas the linksys and d-links were struggling to get 11 mbps (matching cards to routers, etc). Even the Gigabyte card itself receives better. I still have one of the Linksys cards and it only picks up the gigabyte router, whereas the gigabyte card is picking up two of my neighbor's routers as well!

I am extremely satisfied, and now have found a router I can recommend to others!

OH, and of course newegg as always rocks.
