5 out of 5 eggsGood for Older Laptop

Pros: This is a great PC Card for an older laptop that has only USB 1.1. Note that it is 32-bit CardBus PCMCIA Type II, which will not work in a 16-bit PCMCIA slot.

Cons: Not really the fault of the card, but, it will not provide enough power for a USB hard drive.

Other Thoughts: Interface: 32-bit CardBus PCMCIA Type II
Make sure your PC Card is CardBus, not the older 16-bit slot.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked well under Linux

Pros: Plugged it into an Ubuntu Linux (8.04) laptop. Worked immediately. Plugged in a USB device and it too was recognized immediately. Excellent solution to fried USB ports on laptop motherboard.

Cons: It could be slightly less intrusive, but not much.

2 out of 5 eggsNot compatible with some systems

Pros: Tech support is very responsive. Card is well built and size is not obtrusive like some.

Cons: My IBM Thinkpad A20p would not recognize this card. After several dealings with Trendnet tech support (which was really good), I was able to get the card recognized by XP. However, no devices worked when connected to the device. The driver is MUCH better than the SYBA driver, but still not plug n play compliant. After buying two USB cardbus cards and experiencing the pain of both of them not working, I can definitively say...spend the extra $20 and get a name brand card that Windows will recognize.

Other Thoughts: This is actually a relabeled "OrangeUSB 2.0" card from Orange Micro, who is apparantly no longer in business. This card uses the NEC chipset which is better than the VIA cards offered here at Newegg. However, the OrangeUSB 2.0 driver is not always recognized as being compatible with this card. Also, the driver was last updated in 2003, and there is no way to get a truly updated driver.

5 out of 5 eggsGood card

Pros: Installed easily and accepts all USB devices. I had another card from another manufacturer and it worked poorly. Very happy with this one.

Cons: None so far, which is funny, since nothing's perfect.

Other Thoughts: If you are like my wife and messed up all of your onboard USB ports, or just want to expand your machine's USB capabilities, this card works well.
