OLD-don't buy 2006 model
- Pros: Wireless N-That's it
- Cons: You need to go online to install a driver for vista. It's connection isn't that good and the connection gets dropped. It was made in 2006!!!!
- Other Thoughts: A waste of $80. My router dosen't suck for those wondering for the connection drop. An Apple Airport Extreme Dual Band and an Airport Express for Extension.
- Pros: 300Mbps constantly within range.
Installed and runs in 5 minutes on Toshiba laptop running Vista Home Premium 64-bit. a steal at ~24 bucks shipped.
- Cons: only fair signal strength (2 bars) when working from the second floor while the built-in wireless g gives excellent signal at 4 bars (but transmitted at 48-54mbps)
- Other Thoughts: Absolutely compatible with Vista 32/64-bit. Make sure to download the correct driver package directly from Belkin website.
Junk
- Pros: MIMO N, ExpressCard form factor, price
- Cons: range is terrible, HOT, card does stick out of the slot, absolutely positively IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH x64 VISTA.
- Other Thoughts: 1. This this is rocket fast when you're 10ft clear LOS from the router. Move behind a wall and you lose 100MBS of thruput. Move 30 ft away, go ahead and take 50-75MB off that.
2. This thing gets HOT. Yeah, its an N adapter in a tiny package so it's gonna get warm. No ones fault but 99.95 of express slots sit directly below where your hands go. It's uncomfortable at best.
3. The card does stick out of the slot. I was hoping it would not and there is absolutely no reason it needs to. I consider it poor design. If you have an HP notebook your PCMCIA slot is a dual PCMCIA/Express slot. It's wobbly when insterted and very disconscerning.
4. NOT COMPATIBLE WITH 64BIT VISTA. I read reviews and double checked the maufactures web site. Belkin swears it has drivers for Vista64. They even have a package. It is not compatible. The card will strait up NOT work. Period. This is a 32bit only driver and will not work on a 64 bit system. I've tried.
