Comments: I recommend this Iomega 31310 unit, however, I've found that Zip250 disks allow a faster write. I've used Zip 100 drives for years, SCSI, parallel and ATAPI; this is my first 250MB, USB-powered drive. Despite its USB 1.1 operation it's fast enough for backups which compare favorably in write speed to that of my backup CD-RWs both using a relatively new mainstream computer (purchased with quality components from Newegg, of course). Newegg's pricing was good and FedEx Saver delivery was a day early. Newegg continues to rank with me as an outstanding reseller.

Pros: What can I say, it does what it is supposed to. I like the fact that IOMEGA eliminated the power cable and the device is now powered via USB.

Pros: I bought this on a combo purchase with a Fisher 8-track player. Both are awesome!!! John Denver has never sounded so good! Analog For The Win!!!!

Cons: Looks too futuristic.

Other Thoughts: I am thinking of upgrading to a 56K modem because it is hard to play Command and Conquer on my 14.4K

Pros: my dad gave this too me as a X mas present a year ago. it did its job, very nice, saved a lot of floppy disks, not too noisy.

Cons: after about a year, it stopped working. could be on the count that i used it between several different computers.

Pros: It was a low price.

Cons: None since this technology was seriously outdated about 3 months after this purchase. Honestly, who uses zip drives anymore? Also this was suppose to be compatible with the university comp labs but they required a different zip drive. So I wasted money on a device I couldn't use and is no longer being used by basically anyone on earth.

Other Thoughts: External drives should be cheaper than internal ones since the chance of damage is much much greater with external devices. This was one of the most negative and horrific purchases in my life.
