Ultrium LTO 5 is exclusively produced with NeoSmart Technology for 1.6TB of raw capacity and 3.6TB compressed capacity. NeoSmart Technology integrates seven leading-edge technologies essential to the expansion from gigabyte to terabyte storage capacities: ultra thin coating, advanced dispersion, fine metal particles, high-performance cartridges, high precision servo tracking, superior calendering and highly precise slitting. Cons: We purchased these tapes with our Dell TL4000. They have been too abrasive with the IBM drives causing the heads to go bad between 6-8 months. The tape is too abrasive to the drives and causes this issue. We have replaced over 6 drives in two years that we have been using them. Save yourself the trouble and avoid these tapes.
