5 out of 5 eggsRELIABLE BRAND FOR ME

Pros: I’ve had many APC UPS’s since the 1980’s. All were many years out warranty when their batteries started failing. I never had one fail due to workmanship. I currently have 550, 750, 1000, & 1300VA APC units running. I need another one for my LCD HDTV

Cons: If you have even a couple transformers, you will loose one or more outlets due to how close they are together. A surge strip helps for things that do not need UPS power.

Other Thoughts: Keep your receipt. I bought a 1000VA APC unit on clearance, battery DOA. By manufacture date it was out of warranty before I bought it. I sent an image of the receipt to APC via email. I had a free battery delivered to me within 48 hours, plus my full warranty. They also called back within the week to make sure it was working correctly. Without the receipt, I would have a giant paper weight.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Product, Bad Warranty Coverage

Pros: -APC, a quality name in UPS
-LCD display
-3 year warranty
-Great support via email and forums

Cons: -Many catches to get out of honoring the warranty
-Expensive

Other Thoughts: I have this and two BX900R units that I purchased January of 2009 at a brick and mortar store, they were on sale for around $100 a piece. Little did I realize at the time just registering them with the APC wouldn't give any warranty coverage. Long story short, one of the BX900R recently had an overload condition and since I'm unable to produce a receipt any longer, APC goes by the date of manufacture, which in my case gave me less than 11 months of actual warranty coverage. So this product loses an egg for a poor warranty on an otherwise excellent product.

The thing to remember boys and girls, many times a manufacturer will try to weasel their way out of honoring a warranty any way that they can so keep your receipts. I'll still buy APC, but only if it's on sale or open box.

5 out of 5 eggsInfo about my LCD APC UPS - Harddisk Performance Increase.

Pros: It's a power supply for my system that can handle 6 computers or so hooked up to it. The LCD can be consitently on if you set it up, you need to look at the instructions on page 3 I think. Turn the power off on unit and then hold the display button for 10 seconds or somthing like that. I hope you guys are reading the directions and not junking your power supplies. hehe.

Cons: No Kensignton Slot for lock.

Other Thoughts: I have a powersupply for my gaming system becuase of the advanced performance settings you can apply to the harddisks. It says that if the power fails you could have data curroption or loss. Notebooks have similar settings along with there quite mode setting. Hope you UPS people know about the advanced performance you can get with it and your harddisks in vista. =) hehe.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed after 1.5 months

Pros: When it was working all was well.

Cons: Unit failed after 1.5 months of use and gives an error code of F06 which corresponds to "Relay Welding". I've gone to APC's web site and can't find any more info about what is wrong. Tech Support is only available M-F 8 AM - 8 PM Eastern time so we will see what they say next week.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat UPS

Pros: great product, amazing protection against power surges and lightning, i acually have 40' sony bravia HDTV, PS3, Xbox360 and direcvt HD receiver hooked up to it, and with all of them on it does not use more than 550 watts. Without power it usually lasts 25 minutes on battery power. Very Satisfied!!!

Cons: lol its kind of heavy but who cares...

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This unit is another fine example of APC's quality products. I actually have the BX model, which is essentially the same, minus the over-volt regulation of the BR model. It powers a high-end c2d PC + dual 20" monitors without much issue. 25-30min uptimes are regular on this guy. Very happy with it.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: For those folks who seem to think the LCD cannot be set to permanently on, if you read the manual carefully, there is a way to do it. I did it on mine, but now the LCD backlight seems to be going bad. But that's what the warranty is for.

5 out of 5 eggsBest APC UPS sp far

Pros: I bought this little guy for my gaming machine which is using a 50" Plasma screen. This UPS works great and can handle the power needs.
I really like the information provided on the front panel and since I also watch movies on this computer it is nice that the display shuts off after a while.

Cons: Should have a setting to keep the display on all the time for those who want to watch thier power consumtion needs.

5 out of 5 eggsGood UPS

Pros: I have my cable modem, switch, two computers and a 19" CRT plugged into this thing, and it handles them all just fine. It has no problem with the large power spike when I turn on the CRT. With everything idle, I'm only using about 25% of its capacity. The front display is very nice and gives a lot of useful information like how many watts you're currently using or how many minutes of battery time remain at the current load.

Cons: The front LCD does not stay on. You have to press one of the buttons on the front and then it will stay on for about 30 seconds. I wish there was a way for the LCD to aways be on. I also dropped the battery on my foot and it hurt a lot.

Other Thoughts: I am very pleased with this UPS. It is the best UPS I have ever owned.

5 out of 5 eggsso far so good

Pros: replaceable and hot-swappable batteries. LCD display which gives runtime left on battery, load in watts/%, among several other stats.

Cons: Space around the outlets, not a single place can I plug in a transformer without at least one other being blocked. It would be nice if I could leave the LCD turned on, a few seconds isn't always enough. Wish the RJ-45 supported gigabit.

Other Thoughts: I have the XS model, not this BR. My PC also uses a seasonic PSU which has active PFC and so far I haven't had any trouble at all, but I don't overclock it.
