3 out of 5 eggsNothing special

Pros: When opening the battery compartment, you slide an unlocking mechanism that also disconnects the leads of the battery. This would make changing batteries much easier.

Cons: The unit is way too big for a mere 550 VA. There are 4 battery backup outlets and 2 surge outlets closely packed together, but a lot of extra space. They could have spaced out the outlets to make more room for big plugs.

Other Thoughts: Belkin makes quality battery backups (none of failed so far), but this one is not a good pick.

4 out of 5 eggs550VA Belkin

Pros: Did not black out with a 450watt PS P4, USB DVD Burner, 15" LCD, cordless phone. USB Monitoring software is great, can schedule a deep cycle test per week to keep the battery conditioned.

Cons: I bought 3, charged all for 24 hrs, NONE of them ran the computer for more than 6 minutes - forget the 28 minute box claims unless you're working on a mini-laptop. Tried a 300 watt light bulb - 2 minutes and 10 seconds for all 3 units.

Other Thoughts: Realistically all this needs to do is get you through a brown-out or a brief loss of power, which these do just fine. Also has easy swap out of batteries (for when they die of constant trickle/maintenance charging in about 18 months - same for all these units).

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: good size, looks nice, USB, cool interface...it even has a built in web server you can access from IE, and you can install the software as network slave, standalone master, or standalone slave. How cool is that?

Cons: The cool software is worthless for this UPS, as it can barely keep one low power pc powered, much less a second as a slave. The 550 VA's are misleading. I do the 10 second self test from the gui and watch the battery meter fall to the 20% range in under 10 seonds.

Other Thoughts: This is a great UPS to clean up a dirty power supply, or for extremely short term power outages. But for anything longer, look 1000+VA. The box actually says 28 minutes. To power what, a laptop?

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It's size is nice.
Two few plugs.
Easy access to the battery.

Cons: I battery side failed after a lighting storm. But the computer has no damage.
Dealer only Warranty.

Other Thoughts: I have always used A?C.
After this I may go back to them?

5 out of 5 eggsWorks good!

Pros: So far so good, haven't had any power outages yet to really test it. But considering it is a high quality UPS unit, i have no doubts in it reliablity. Have a ton of things plugged into it with no issues so far.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsGreat UPS

Comments: I have had this UPS model for almost a 1 1/2 years. And it has worked great. I especially like the feature of being able to turn off the audible beeps when there is a power outage. It powers my computer for 30mins. (15" LCD/2ghz/1gb RAM, etc)
