5 out of 5 eggsSo far it does what I helped for

Pros: The price was right. It has the smart shutdown setup and the power saving outlets. I have been looking for a while and this had the right combination for my application. The free shipping helped me make my decision.

Cons: Bulky

Other Thoughts: This time of the year with storms knocking out power often everyone who cares about their computer should have one

5 out of 5 eggsGreat UPS

Pros: Great features, compact - great UPS. Replaced an older APC UPS because the battery was almost as expensive as this whole unit! I don't use all the features but this UPS is more green than the older ones - just like any "appliance" you'll save $$ in energy if you replace them every year!

Cons: I hate batteries, especially lead-acid. I have trouble recycling them in my area.

Other Thoughts: Batteries are evil, yet even as hell-fire saves my computer they shall always vex me.

2 out of 5 eggsJust another UPS

Pros: Very typical UPS layout, has plenty of ports to plug into. I gave

Cons: My company was looking for UPS's to deploy that would save energy while the offices were closed. At my bosses request I spent additional money and purchased 40 of these units. Only to find out the 1st one to be defective(more later). I thought it was a fluke, after all these are APC's right, so I went through the RMA process. I'm all for due diligence and troubleshooting so tech support and I tried every step and configuration but nothing worked. Meanwhile I started deploying the remaining UPS's only to find out about 75% of them are defective in their Energy Saving features using the master to control the slaves. Am I going to RMA 30 UPS's at the expense to my company? Hell no. Will I buy another APC? Hell no. After all the time and expense only to find out they are simply a surge protector w/ battery backup, I would have been much more satisfied with a different brand.

Other Thoughts: APC really the ball on the UPS market, and that's supposed to be their strong suit.

5 out of 5 eggsGood solution for the cost

Pros: Reasonably long uptime for very little expense.
These units will keep a mid range workstation or home computer on for about 20-30 minutes with the power off or fluctuating. If you operate in an environment where there is inconsistent power or radio frequency interference they are essential for avoiding data loss due to unexpected shutdowns.
I have about 10 of these, some on my home computers and some hooked up in our work office and factory workshop and I've rarely had to replace batteries, and never had one run out of juice before the power came back on.
They also work as a line conditioner by normalizing the voltage you're getting from the wall.

Cons: Replacement batteries for APC UPS units are not cheap, and occasionally, like any UPS, the batteries will suffer major failures and burst if put under load for too long or incorrectly charged. The more costly units aren't any more immune to this than this lower end unit.

Other Thoughts: this product stands quite high in its class and its made by arguably the most well known company in the business.

replacement batteries are very easy to find and will remain that way for a long time.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong after 4 years!

Pros: I'm extremely satisified with this device! I Purchased it in 2010 to backup my Desktop PC and Cable Modem and it has been running continually since. I just recently added in my VOIP (Ooma) to the UPS. I did a test and I got about 20 minutes of backup time wtih my Desktop, Modem, and VOIP device. Not bad for 4 years of use!

Cons: The phone/FAX line surge protection doesn't seem to work with my Ooma Teleo VOIP device. I'm not sure if it is an issue wtih the UPS or the VOIP service. I'm not too concerned, unless my house takes a direct hit from lightning there is no way I can have a surge running through my internal phone lines. And if my house takes a direct strike of lightning I have bigger things to worry about!

Other Thoughts: Replacement batteries for this device are inexpensive and readily available. I was thinking after 4 years of use I would need to replace the battery but it looks like it is still going strong.

3 out of 5 eggsTech Teacher

Pros: Nice price it came in the case.

Cons: Got this as part of a COMBO Deal. To Bad I have to rate the parts rather than the package I purchased. You would think that whom ever put this package together would have noticed that an adapter was needed to make the power supply work with the Mother Board. Now, I need to find one in small town USA or wait days for a $2.00 adapter.

3 out of 5 eggs"remaining battery charge is 101%, battery is currently charging"

Pros: bought it when it was on sale which was a great value. some outlets are spaced apart which is great for wall warts. this is my second of this unit.

Cons: half the time i check with power chute, it says remaining battery charge is 101% and battery is currently charging. according to the APC forums, this is a bug in the firmware. i was told units produced next month won't have the bug. also, the firmware is not user upgradable so there is nothing you can really do about it. from what i heard, this firmware bug does not effect the performance of the unit, it is just cosmetic. -2 for that.

Other Thoughts: when checking the output voltage of the unit while on battery power, you may get a reading around 80 volts if you don't use a true RMS volt meter because the output waveform is step approximated to sine wave and cheap multimeters don't read that waveform properly. the power supply on your PC may produce harmonics (buzzing sound) when powered on battery power because of the waveform.

5 out of 5 eggsA great home protection solution

Pros: Has surge protection for coaxial cable and phone (for DSL or FAX)
Has USB connection to a computer for graceful shutdown (using PowerChute Personal which is free)
Has building wiring fault indicator
Batteries are replaceable

Cons: If used for the right purpose (read: non-enterprise) none I can think of
(remember NEVER to use a laser printer on UPSes or other high wattage devices like a microwave or coffee maker)

Other Thoughts: This is a solidly built unit, with a well-thought out design. In my case, I'm using it at home with an HP Microserver Gen8, its external backup drive, my cable modem (which I'm also using the surge protection for) and my router, and it has more than enough juice for all of them; it would also work great in a home theater environment to protect your critical equipment.
PowerChute Personal software works fine with desktop operating systems and Windows Server (including 2012 and 2012R2) making this a perfect unit for your home server, and letting you shut down gracefully, as well as giving an easy way to regularly test the batteries of your unit. I've had this unit several years, and it has been a solid performer through multiple power outages.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy setup

Pros: Bought to handle router, modem, switch and 2bay NAS.
Used PowerChute software to silence all alarms.
Easy initial battery setup.

Cons: Rather large. Pay attention to dimensions if your space is limited.

Other Thoughts: Purchased this model because the alarms can be silenced.
This is the smallest/cheapest model with that feature.

Manufacture date was Nov 2012.
