1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy APC

This review is from: APC Back-UPS BE350G 350 VA 200 Watts 6 Outlets UPS

Pros: meh

Cons: Bad design. Power outlets are bunched up together, impossible to use with more than one "wall wart" transformer.
Doesn't last. These units last the life of one battery. Replaced battery, but unit still dead (happened to me on two APC units)
APC offers an upgrade program called "trade ups". The price after trade in is higher than the newegg price.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat product for what it is

This review is from: APC Back-UPS BE350G 350 VA 200 Watts 6 Outlets UPS

Pros: This is a relatively cheap UPS that is built to last. I have had one for about 3 years and another for a little over a year. These are NOT for unattended shutdown of computers. These are so that when you are on the last line of your 2000 word document (that you haven't been saving) and the power goes out for a second, you won't lose your work. They are also great for letting you know that the power is out in the middle of the night when you are sound asleep and it really doesn't matter!

Cons: No switch to turn off the alarm permanently.

Other Thoughts: If you live in an area that is prone to blips in the electrical supply, this baby will save you from a reboot in the middle of your work. Worthless if you have a laptop running on battery power. ....though it will charge the battery of your laptop (or Phone!) during a long power outage. You'll just have to deal with the alarm!

1 out of 5 eggsWorst UPS I've ever seen

This review is from: APC Back-UPS BE350G 350 VA 200 Watts 6 Outlets UPS

Pros: Might be a good surge and brownout protection for attended use only. Might work well for devices other than computers that are not damaged when the battery runs out.

Cons: Overpriced power backup as long as I'm in the room.

I'm very disappointed by Neweggs listing of this device. During the last 15 years of providing customer support for PC's I've recommended and purchased dozens of APC UPS devices for many clients. Since I've seen some off-brand devices not provide support for Mac's I decided to stick with a brand that worked with both Windows and Macs.

This device does not provide for unattended shutdown of any machine. Therefore it doesn't do what a UPS is supposed to do, protect the computer and operating system from damage from power problem crashes.

These UPS devices are only suitable keeping a desklamp running while I get my backup generator running. Meanwhile, a PC connected to this device can still get a corrupted operating system due to a power crash when the small battery runs out and can't shut down the PC.

Other Thoughts: It never occurred to me that anybody would make a computer UPS that doesn't work with any operating system. I consider this device to be junk and no better than a common surge protector.

From the overview - "APC's Back-UPS ES BE350G incorporates a variety of features to make it the "greenest" battery backup in its class while still offering reliable power protection for your computer and peripherals."

Unfortunately for me, I've got twice the problem as I ordered a second unit from Newegg while the first one was in transit. I don't need it either and am looking around for a webcam or router or emergency light that might use it.

5 out of 5 eggsperfect for small systems

This review is from: APC Back-UPS BE350G 350 VA 200 Watts 6 Outlets UPS

Pros: good value for a small system like HTPC
plug it in and it works
doesn't take up too much space
built to last

4 out of 5 eggsgood until battery went.

This review is from: APC Back-UPS BE350G 350 VA 200 Watts 6 Outlets UPS

Pros: Works great, loud alarm, lots of outlets.

Cons: Less than 90 days and my battery went bad, contacted APC and they are sending me a replacement battery, so in this aspect it is exactly why i purchased from APC, 3 year warranty. the reason i still have 4 egg review, because it will work fine after a new battery is in it, and faulty batteries happen. but them charging 0 to replace, and FREE return shipping is great.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

This review is from: APC Back-UPS BE350G 350 VA 200 Watts 6 Outlets UPS

Pros: Seems to be doing the job.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: We've had big storms and blizzards where I live this winter and 1 of my 2 computers just can't take the slightest 1/10 of a second cut of electricity. It just dies while my other computer lives on without noticing.

Got this thing yesterday and it's another stormy night tonight.

I saw the lights flickering again 3 or four times. The exact thing that on any other day, my computer would've shut down.

All I heard was a bip from the APC telling me that something happened and... Computer stayed on without shutting off or even having any apparent shortage. I guess it worked as intended.

It's a 6 outlets (3 protected by the battery and 3 normal surge protected ones) and I have the computer, the rooter and the monitory on the 3 first, all the rest on the 3 others. I can't say how much time it can last but I'm confident that now, I'll be at least able to close my work properly instead of losing everything.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes Exactly What It Is Supposed To.

This review is from: APC Back-UPS BE350G 350 VA 200 Watts 6 Outlets UPS

Pros: Works.

Cons: Not quite enough wattage to keep my system up if my power goes completely out, but I'm only having quick brownouts that don't even cause a hiccup to my HX850 anyways.

Other Thoughts: Got this because I was having voltage drops when my central air kicked on, causing my router with its poor power supply to drop connections. Got this on sale because I didn't want to replace my router.

4 out of 5 eggscheap basic protection

This review is from: APC Back-UPS BE350G 350 VA 200 Watts 6 Outlets UPS

Pros: Cost-effective, APC brand UPS module. 3 plugs specific to battery backup provide enough for a computer, single monitor, and maybe a router to stay online through a South Florida brownout or storm surge. This UPS is better suited for equipment such as a satellite DVR or something else light that doesn't do well after a short power outage.

Cons: Bigger than a surge protector, only lasts one to two minutes with a computer or about 15-20 minutes with a dvr unless you turn it off quickly.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a UPS that will let you play Call of Duty or keep your servers online through a blackout, this is not the device for you. Better features and longevity start to appear on the more expensive models; expect to spend around $100 to protect your $2000+ computer investment properly.

3 out of 5 eggsUPS

This review is from: APC Back-UPS BE350G 350 VA 200 Watts 6 Outlets UPS

Pros: Low cost
Good for Cable modem Router BU
Bought this for my cable modem / router so they will stay operational long enough for my home server to email/text me about power failure at home . Does this function well

Cons: As talked about before NO PC interface , will NOT do auto shutdown, * no way to silence audible alarm except to shut down

Other Thoughts: Not a problem for me I read the reviews and it was what I was looking for, Not suitable as a unattended PC backup

2 out of 5 eggsPointless

This review is from: APC Back-UPS BE350G 350 VA 200 Watts 6 Outlets UPS

Pros: Good price, nice size.

Cons: Very little capacity

Other Thoughts: I purchased this because the power will often flicker at my place and it will cause the pc to restart. Last time this happened there were a lot of problems that it caused my system. I figured that even though the size was small, it should give me enough time to shut down the pc. I didn't even have enought time to walk over to the pc and grab the mouse. It was already dead. This unit it totaly pointless.
