5 out of 5 eggsGood power supply

Pros: - Lots of settings and features
- Easy to read display
- Good battery life
- Lots of plugs

Cons: - Buttons are easy to bump
- Heavy

Other Thoughts: This lovely power supply has served my computer well for years and held up a lot better than most of the other pieces all things considered. It's been dropped several times and been hit with a number of power surges but it does it's job. It's obviously just a battery but it's a very nice one and well worth the money.

5 out of 5 eggs3rd and best APC UPS

Pros: -Actual button to silence alarms
-Very customizable power chute software
-The outlet shutoff is just an awesome feature (and you can use a power strip for more benefit as long as you keep the wattage at a reasonable amount)

Cons: - Makes a high-pitched whine, but the noise is so soft it's only noticeable right after I shut off my PC. I can't hear it at all while my PC is on.

Other Thoughts: -Yes it's heavy, it uses a lead-acid battery. That's how it works.
-You can tweak and tune what kind of power your neighborhood has (rural/unreliable, new building/clean, etc...) and APC has a pretty good database based off of your zip code to automatically assign a value.

The settings in PowerChute are really, really good for a device like this, and you can shut off alarms or change when they sound. Anyone familiar with UPS alarms knows this is a very, very good thing.

And again, the mute button on the front is a godsend after my last APC, which got faulty alarms and would not shut up without me getting into the software.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: -LCD Screen is designed to be seen at an angle, not straight forward (most people are not going to have this thing at eye level that is why they designed it like this)
Someone noted that it does not have enough power for SLI or crossfire, this is not true, I am running two Sapphire cards simultaneously, with a 1000 watt power supply 3 hard drives and other cards and it gives me 10 minutes to properly shutdown the pc.
-It also has a cost saving feature where you can set it up to power down other devices controlled by the main device that you are protecting. This is great if you have things like speakers, routers, modems, or any other devices that use ac power.
In the vast research i did for a smartUPS this is where price met performance.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is a very small UPS, great for SOHO setups.

Pros: When it runs, performs well.

Cons: Dies after 8mos. Replaced circuit board. Died again after 6 mos.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great.

Pros: Works great for such a small UPS. Software has nice features. Easily suites my mom's needs.

Cons: When you set the software to preserve the battery by shutting down your desktop PC after 5 mins on battery, it will allow other gear to remain up on battery for apprx 5 mins before turning off the UPS (PC not plugged into master). I wish it allowed you to specify that shut off duration however, I found the registry entry and set it so now it shuts down the PC after 5 mins on battery and allows my router & cable modem to remain up for 30 mins before shutting off the UPS. This still preserves the battery while saving me from loosing my internet as quick while on a laptop.

Other Thoughts: Newegg & UPS have incredibly fast shipping. Why go to the brick & mortar store 45 mins away? (90 mins round-trip) and Newegg has better prices. That'll learn that big blue & yellow store for closing my local store. Save the gas.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Intervenes in every power event. The power is very bad in my area (low voltage, very briefly, twice a day) and it has been able to compensate for low voltage instantaneously.

Cons: The LCD panel looks cheap and dim, refresh rate is noticeably slow. Does not shut up when the power is low, which is very annoying.

I wouldn't let either reason by itself dock an egg. But combined, I will.

Other Thoughts: Using this to protect my XBOX 360, DVD player, and my 24" LCD TV. If the power goes out, I don't have to worry about losing my progress :)

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good price, smaller than the last Back-UPS Pro it replaced. LCD panel takes the mystery out of load/capacity/runtime readings.

Cons: - LCD hard to read at certain angles.
- no Mac compatible Powerchute software

Other Thoughts: need additional powerstrip or liberators to use any power bricks.
