3 out of 5 eggsNot that impressed

Pros: LCD screen. Reliable. Good warranty and support.

Cons: About 80% of these that we purchase for corporate use at every person's PC has a very noticeable and annoying sound. The other 20% are quiet enough to not notice while sitting at the PC. I would never purchase this for home use as it would be far too annoying.

Battery wiring is too tightly packed, which makes it difficult to get the wires to lay inside without much stress. Not entirely necessary, but I think it is bad practice to have wires under stress.

Price is not competitive with cyber power and other brands of UPS's. I've got a cyber power at home and have no complaints at all. It was about $30 dollars cheaper than the comparable APC unit.

Other Thoughts: The sound level emitted from these is unacceptable.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Unit

Pros: All Pros. It runs quiet, at least mine does. My server is attached I have had two real power failures and it work great.

Cons: No cons, really.

Other Thoughts: These are not fancy devices but are a must-have. I have already recommended this to a couple friends. It really lets you forget that you have it.

3 out of 5 eggsHigh pitched whine

Pros: It does what it's supposed to do and does it well. It also lasts for a very long time without needing a battery replacement. I've had two of these running 24/7 since ~2011 and they're still purring along happily (and they're silent!)

Cons: Unfortunately, I just bought two more of them for a couple of new computer builds, and they both squeal on wall power as described in other reviews. It's not incredibly loud, but it's penetrating. In a relatively quiet room, you can still hear the squeal from over 20 feet away. I'm going to try to tuck these UPSs away behind the chassis and hope that the computer fan noise can drown it out, otherwise they'll be sent back for RMA. Too bad too, I've been so happy with my first two from several years ago.

1 out of 5 eggsBuzzes

Pros: LCD display and, well, that's about it.

Cons: Buzzes. A lot. Took this to the client site, plugged it in, starts buzzing. Thought it may need to charge fully so left it plugged in. Stop by next day, still buzzing, returned to Newegg for exchange. Took new one to client site, again buzzes. Doesn't buzz on battery, just charging.

Other Thoughts: It is not the building or power outlet. I plugged in several different outlets at client site, plus plugged in at my office, same buzz. I install APC battery backups exclusively, about two a month on average. I have three different ones running in my home as well - no buzzing anywhere. Also checked firmware, but none available. What a PITA! I hate any product that makes me look like I don't know which products are good. Come on, APC!

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: saved my a.. quite a few tiems as bad weather strikes. I have 3 yrs old Samsung led 23inch monitor. The power block on it burned out twice, because power flickered on and off quickly. Once store replaced it, second time I had to buy the entire board... then I got this UPS and my nightmares were over. Its just a great safety net for electronics. Gives me about 5-15 mins on my PC depending on what I'm doing at that time.

Cons: Does not work when my generator kicks on for some reason....

Other Thoughts: this should be your first buy when you are building a rig for yourself

1 out of 5 eggsHigh pitched whine

Pros: Great features. LCD has V, Watts, Battery time left, etc.

Cons: I bought one of these and RMA'd it for the same high-pitched squeal/whine described by other buyers. The replacement had the same problem. Two in a row - I won't try another one. It's too bad, because I like the UPS.

2 out of 5 eggsCausing me headache

Pros: Battery backup feature works fine. AVR technology.
Reliable brand - when I buy UPS unit i only trust APC

Cons: i bought 4 of these BR700 units and 2 of them produce noticeable high pitch noise from the moment they've been plugged in the outlet. the noise goes away only when it runs off of battery. i had to replace them (thanks, newegg) because it was impossible to work in the office for more than 10 min with these UPS plugged in, everyone had pretty bad headache. the guy with the review below described this issue very well.

Other Thoughts: i never had any problems with APC products before, so i'm not sure if it's just this model or the QC is going down since their merge with Schneider Electric, i guess time will show.

2 out of 5 eggsNoticeable Noise

Pros: Solid build quality, seems to consistently power my PC and monitor.

Cons: As soon as I received the backup, I connected the internal battery as directed by the instructions, plugged it into the wall and I immediately noticed a very high pitch noise from the UPS. The noise is the kind of barely-audible high frequency pitch that sounds like the feedback from a hearing aid. The sound was not a single frequency, but whistled a little and I was actually concerned it might blow up or melt down. I tried to ignore it, assuming the sound was due to an unusually high current draw while the internal battery charged up from brand new so I let it run while I was assembling the computer that would be plugged into it. After an hour the sound had not decreased in volume so I turned on the UPS and the LCD indicated the battery was fully charged. At this point I started becoming concerned. I had already gotten a slight headache from the persistent high pitch sound and was not feeling comfortable about this purchase. I kept it plugged in over night, hoping that a break-in period might reduce the sound. After checking this morning it was still as loud as before and I'm not happy. I purposely spec'd my computer to be very quiet. My computer room has very low ambient noise so this UPS is noticeably the loudest thing in the room.

Other Thoughts: The APC website lists the ambient noise generated by this UPS to be 45 dBa at 1m. This could be accurate, and it could simply be caused by current flowing through the transformer. However, not reading any similar comments in any other reviews makes me think that I either have a defective unit or this is normal for UPS devices.

Full disclosure: I'm a guy that can hear if a TV monitor is powered on and I regularly unplug my cell phone usb adapter from the wall because it makes a similar high pitch noise that keeps me up at night since it's right next to my bed. I may be unusually sensitive to high frequency sounds like this.

5 out of 5 eggsWORKS 100%

Pros: This unit has been in more then 10 power outages, it works on the spot as soon as the power goes it it will beep loudly indicating that the power has gone and it's running on the battery, I'm currently using it for a home entertainment system TV, Cable Box, Bose System it shows the current wattage your using, it's nice to know that when all my stuff is turned off i'm still using 112 watts. The battery run's for 20+ when the power is out it's just perfect for the price.

Cons: It charges a little bit slow, so if you have 2 power outages within the hour it might not make it more then 5 mins the 2nd round. But I will not dock an egg on this because the purpose of it is to save computer work and shut down, not watch movies
