1 out of 5 eggsQuality issue

Pros: 2 of 3 units working perfect.

Cons: 1 of 3 units shows no battery but functional as a back up battery. Perhaps has bad sensor.

Other Thoughts: Not decide to make RMA process due to heavy weight.

5 out of 5 eggsAPC is the Gold Standard

Pros: APC Reliability. LCD screen that gives you readings of current voltage, wattage, load percent, and estimated runtime.

Cons: Estimate is the key word for the runtime. It's not terribly accurate. The estimate isn't terribly wrong, but a display showing 20 minutes is +/-5 minutes.

Minor complaint, really. I think it's a limitation of the SLA battery technology more than anything.

Other Thoughts: Running an 18-watt load consisting of a fanless, solid-state Atom PC, modem, and router, this backup lasted over an hour. After 70 minutes, I plugged it back in since that was way more runtime than I needed.

If you look at the runtime charts on APC's site, the 1000 model will run LONGER than the 1250-1500 models with low-power loads. The internal inverter circuitry uses less power in the smaller back-up than the bigger ones. Stated differently, the bigger back-ups take more battery power to run themselves, so they are less efficient with small computers.

Do some homework before buying. A properly-sized UPS will run longer and more reliably than one that's too big or too small. APC's site has a wealth of information for runtime graphs on different loads.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat UPS for Home or Office Use

Pros: Nice LCD screen with the ability to toggle through various information (voltage in, voltage out, load watts %, load watts in numeric, estimated run time in minutes and output Hz).

I like the fact that the beeping sound can be tweaked to be automatically muted between certain hours. It looks like this can be done through software or on the unit itself.

Battery installs in a slide in fashion which is different than some of the other UPS units I've worked with. This one slides right into the compartment and clicks right into place easily. There's no wires to connect to the battery with this unit.

It just works right out of the box without the software or communications cable connected.

Cons: I've noticed that the way the self tests interacts with the included software seems to be hit and miss. Sometimes the software is unable to register that a self test just occurred. It looks like the self test does successfully complete without any errors on the hardware itself. My guess is sometimes the RJ45 communications port takes too long to shoot back a response to the software. When this happens the software makes you aware that it was unable to complete the test. Though it is a strange problem I didn't feel it was worth an egg loss on the rating scale.

Other Thoughts: Quite a lengthy sized unit but not too tall or wide. Fits quite nicely under my desk without getting in the way.

Using this for a fully loaded Dell XPS 8300 desktop and Acer X223w monitor. It estimates a battery run time of an hour with this setup. Probably a little overkill but I'll take the extra run time for when things go dark.

Lightning fast shipping as always with everything arriving in tact. Way to go Newegg! :)

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the job

Pros: Arrived fast and in new condition.
Worked right out of the box.
Big enough to pack some power, but small enough to fit behind my entertainment center.
Plenty of connections for my entire home entertainment system.
Large digital display with all the info you'd ever want to know.

Cons: nothing that I can think of. it does what it is supposed to do.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this unit to provide protection to my DTV DVR unit and my television. If you have Satellite TV, then you know even a small power bump causes the receiver to reboot and look for the satellites again, which takes literally FOREVER. This unit allows my DTV receiver to survive a momentary lapse in power and allow me to keep watching TV without staring at the "Your receiver is starting up" for ten minutes. With my 47" LCD TV, DVR, SWiM module and wireless router plugged in to the battery backup side, the display calculated I can get up to 20 minutes of run time. Sounds good to me.

Does what I wanted it to do and it's reasonably priced, so it gets 5 eggs from me.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't support all PCs

Pros: Looks pretty

Cons: Direct from APC technical support "Please be advised that output of a Back-UPS when on Battery power is a Stepped approximated to a Sine wave and this type of wave form would not be suitable for computer using a Antec power supply." When the power cut came the computer died the UPS did not provide suitable power to the computer.

Other Thoughts: I've used APC UPSes for more than 20 years and think very highly of them until now. The same computer works correctly with an APC Back UPS ES 750 but not with this unit.

5 out of 5 eggsLike this unit

Pros: First of all - Active PFC. Yes, stepped sine-wave UPSs will support Active PFC, provided the following condition is met: the PSU rating must be no more than 2/3 the load rating of the UPS. The reason is that after the 8ms delay of the UPS battery switchover, an active PFC PSU will attempt to draw max current from the UPS, and if the PSU wattage is too high, will overload the UPS.

I have been running a Seasonic SIII 330W Bronze 80+ with active PFC for a couple of years with no problem, but that is connected to a Back-Ups Pro 1400. I also have a Smart-UPS 1400.

This BR1000G is actually for my father to provide backup power for his clock radio, cordless phone, and a lamp with a Phillips 12.5W LED light. The BR1000G says it will provide 5.5 hrs of runtime with the LED light off and 4.5 hrs with the LED light on.

Cons: I experimented with various low loads and the remaining run-time display does not seem very accurate. I say this when I see that when running on battery, the remaining run-time drops by more than 1 minute every minute. Perhaps the run-time/minute drop reaches a 1:1 ratio on average later but I did not run it that long.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome!

Pros: These are great UPS's. High quality all the way. APC is the gold standard and you'll know why when you buy other brands to save some money but then realize why the other brands are so inexpensive.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: I especially love the new "flip the battery over" instead of connecting the power cables to the battery when you first install it. I always hated seeing the spark, gave me the hibbee jibbees. But the new way with just flipping the battery over is definitely the way to go. Great job APC!
