5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: APC BR1500G Back-UPS Pro 1500VA 10-outlet Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

Pros: Easy setup and battery replacement. Compact size.

Cons: none for me

Other Thoughts: This is my second APC smart UPS and I have found the support to be good. The first unit failed, because of a relay. I decided to buy a new, more modern unit rather the repair the old one. I will fix it later and give to a relative.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Units for our main servers

This review is from: APC BR1500G Back-UPS Pro 1500VA 10-outlet Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

Pros: Great unit to protect our server units, with our bad power in our area, this unit is great.

Cons: None so far, runs a little hot if anything

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding - Great Performer

This review is from: APC BR1500G Back-UPS Pro 1500VA 10-outlet Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

Pros: Great back-up unit. It does what it is supposed to, and more.
Lots of connections and USB communication with your computer to show status of both the UPS and PC.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Almost everything you need to know has already been said by other reviewers here. You do need to know if your power supply can function without a pure sine wave, most can, a few have problems and some older PSUs required pure sine wave power. This unit provides power utilizing a stepped sine wave.

-- And, PCs are supposed to be simple to use..., so goes the 30 odd years old mantra from marketing.

I have had this between 2 and 3 years. Battery has not needed replaced.

I need something like this to keep my PC hardware safe and last longer. This is especially important because I overclock the CPU and video card, that places more demands upon the power supply. This unit provides protection for the PC power supply, which in turn runs everything in it and is responsible for stability. As nm tech shrinks this becomes more and more important because it is more electronically fragile.

I use quality PC components, which means high cost, and I want to protect my investment. I only have one video card, an AMD R9 290, so my Seasonic Platinum 660 watt does a great job - I just want components to last longer.

I did have a problem with a previous model, but none from this one. That is why I do not purchase PSUs from Newegg [although I have spent many thousands of dollars in gear from them]. I bought my APC BR1500G from Office Max, if anything is wrong they are local.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: APC BR1500G Back-UPS Pro 1500VA 10-outlet Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

Pros: even though it worked flawlessly from day 1 through brownouts and power interuptions occasionally it would fail it's own self test activating its alarm that needed manual intervention. After several months when the alarm started going off at night I called up APC or their parent company and they promptly replaced the batteries at no charge to me. Now it works perfect

Cons: none really

5 out of 5 eggsAPC Back-UPS Pro 1500G

This review is from: APC BR1500G Back-UPS Pro 1500VA 10-outlet Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

Pros: Master/Slave configuration. This is a nice feature, because you can turn off certain devices when you turn the main devices off (e.g. Computer/Monitor).

An easy to read LCD display. This feature is a good one because you can see how much you are pulling on your load and see how many times your battery was activated by power outages, brown outs, etc.

A mute function. For those who don't want to hear the beeps.

Plenty of outlets. 10 outlets will provide you with more than enough protection for all of your devices.

PowerChute software.

Quiet. Even when it goes through the self-test this UPS is quiet. You do get the audible buzz when the battery kicks in, but that is to be expected. The fan is quiet, also (at least on the one that I received). I guess that APC fixed the fan issue that other consumers have had, because mine does not have that problem.

I have not had any problems with this unit yet, but I will update this review if I do have any issues. As it stands right now, this UPS is awesome.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend this product to my friends and family. This is a reliable product and I have not had any problems within the first day. It's still running great, but I will update this review if any issues occur. APC makes some great products. I recommend this product to anyone. Don't think about it, go and buy it. You won't be disappointed.

4 out of 5 eggsImpressive Device

This review is from: APC BR1500G Back-UPS Pro 1500VA 10-outlet Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

Pros: This unit is well supported and was repaired with few questions after 6 months of use. I like the display and the ability to set preferences. I am not a feature-hungry user, but do like necessary features to work well. This product has saved not just a computer but a digital audio interface used in recording as well. A straight-wind storm and several other storms raged through our area in the last year and it responded quickly and offered plenty of time to close out work and shut down, when a continued outage took place.

Cons: This unit did fail and the time without it was not ideal, but the turn-around in repair time was within a couple of weeks. Sadly, the email customer service request must have fallen into a dead mailbox because a phone call was necessary to start the repair ticket

4 out of 5 eggsworks as intended

This review is from: APC BR1500G Back-UPS Pro 1500VA 10-outlet Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

Pros: Easy to read the display and easy to use. Setup was a snap and it doesn't take a mechanical engineer to read the instruction manual for setup or use. Turns on and off as it should. Plenty of outlets for the average person.

The read out displays wattage used, Power disruption events, household current values. The display can be turned on by a touch of a button and turns itself off. You can also set the display to stay on if you so desire.

Has switched outlets that turn off when the master device is turned off. This function is able to be calibrated for low wattage devices to be used as the master. Huge plus there.

Cons: The first one I received was DOA and the battery alarm would constantly go off when plugged in and turned on. The software is a bit old school no frills and very boring, for this reason I do not install it as it really is not necessary.

Being a gamer and having many devices that need to be plugged in, I found that this unit does not have enough outlets on the back. A separate power strip is required.

A bit noisy when on battery and especially when charging the battery after Power Event.

Other Thoughts: Because the first one I received was defective I made me question the quality control the company uses. These come with a printout taped to the side of the unit saying each test it past. So if it passed the tests why did I receive one that was so defective? For this reason it gets 4 eggs and not 5.

After replacement this unit has worked flawlessly and even warned me that there was a wiring fault in the house that went unnoticed. After having a few Power outages and using the UPS to keep my modem/router running (aprox time 284 mins) I wonder how I went with out it.

4 out of 5 eggsSecond Unit

This review is from: APC BR1500G Back-UPS Pro 1500VA 10-outlet Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

Pros: This is the second unit that I have purchased. The first unit still works fine, but couldn't handle the amount of power my computer pulled.

Cons: Can't tell if they made the fan quieter or if my fan is not working in this unit, but when the power goes out, my old unit's fan kicks in and I can hear it and feel air movement out the top of the UPS. The new one, I can't hear the fan, and I can't feel any air movement (however, I do hear a buzzing sound intermittently, like a motor trying to move but not able to).

Other Thoughts: I got a second one of these because 885 watts was not enough for my computer and monitors combined. My desktop alone pulls almost 900 watts when I really load it up playing some game, and my monitors pull about 200 watts combined (3 1080P 3D monitors). The UPS my desktop is plugged into has the extended battery pack, so its run time is about 22 minutes on full load. This battery pack with only the monitors attached run time is about 26 minutes, so basically the same. If anything, the UPS on my desktop will die before the monitors, which is preferable (able to shut stuff down instead of having monitors turn off when trying to shut stuff down).

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly so far

This review is from: APC BR1500G Back-UPS Pro 1500VA 10-outlet Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

Pros: Easy setup, running perfectly, runs without sound, already saved me from multiple brownouts

Cons: none thus far

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these and they are keeping up 5 computer systems, a router, a large network switch, and a modem. I've already had power issues in the short time that I've had them and every electronic stayed up and running smoothly.
