2 out of 5 eggsOffgas burnt plastic odor

Pros: Protects against surges and outages.

Cons: Unit has lot of plastic in it, and as soon as it warmed up, it filled the room with noxious burnt plastic odor. Smell did not dissipate after several weeks. APC sent a replacement which was also a bit smelly, but better. I had to pay the return shipping.

Other Thoughts: Next time I'll look at CyperPower. APC is slipping with this cheap plastic.

2 out of 5 eggsSeamingly solid, but maybe not

Pros: 3 BR1500 XS units bought 3 years ago. 2 still standing. 1 was replaced under warranty with a BR1500 XR (better unit). Apparently there are problems with the XS units. They tend to fail without remedy but haven't harmed any hardware connected.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I've been using APC UPS's for the better part of 5 years without any real major issues with the units themselves. I have had a nearly flawless experience with APC and I continue to use these UPS in both my home and work enviornments.

Currently, I have connected: Gaming rig, mini-ITX NAS/media server, 3 monitors, switch, Verizon router, speakers, laptop dockingstation, and my old legacy AMD dualcore PC. With the gaming rig on full blast and NAS (with monitors and peripherals), I've got about a 35-40% load on the unit. I suspect I could run ALL of the connected devices on it simultaneously and still not be near 80-90% load.

I have the USB cable from the UPS connected to my NAS and Server 2012 recognizes that it is connected to an UPS (shows battery fully charged).

Overall, this is an excellent buy for the price. It is also expandable with another battery pack to double the standby power availability.

Cons: PowerChute is an absolutely atrocious piece of software. Why does this STILL require .NET 2.x? Seems like it hasn't been updated in YEARS. Come on APC....you guys need to match the excellent hardware design with some quality software. This is my only complaint.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommend getting the additional battery pack to double your standby life.

5 out of 5 eggsEvery I expected and more!

Pros: Slim
Sturdy
Easy to understand and use
Many plug options

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you have a serious gaming rig like I do this is a must. The power in my house is not able to keep up with the demands of my computer and it's 1500 watt power supply. I tried 2 different APC UPS's before this one and they could not handle the load of my PC. They would shut off and my comp would turn of in 32

5 out of 5 eggsNice; works well

Pros: LCD makes operation easy; sleek design fits spaces easily; I can tell that replacing the battery (eventually - they get old) will be a snap; decent software.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Working well. A few times I have heard it come on-line to handle voltage drops or surges. During a few brief power outages it handles everything perfectly. Also, it performs a self-test periodically and pops up an alert to let you know it's OK.

4 out of 5 eggsMy Experience with BR1300G

Pros: This was a SUPER awesome deal I got from Newegg on Black Friday. I bought this for $99!! Wow what a deal. And it seems to work pretty well so far, just had to make sure the battery was installed though a bit confusing on the directions.

Cons: For some unknown reason I ran the Powerchute Personal Edition software with the USB cable that comes with the UPC, and ran a self test with the Energy Efficient Setting turned on, and the self test failed. Also when I powered off my equipment with the Energy Efficient setting on, it would BEEP 4 beeps every 4 seconds.

I finally turned off the Energy Efficient Setting, and ran a self test on the unit again. It passed with the Energy Efficient Setting Off.

With 210-256 Watts of Power this Unit estimates the Battery Power to run approximately 20-23 minutes in the event of a Power Outage, which should be sufficient enough time for me to be able to safely shut down after the power goes out.

Other Thoughts: I have a Computer with a 880 Watt rated Thermaltake Black Widow connected to this APC, a 42' Vizio TV as my primary monitor, a 20 inch HP Monitor, and a USB Hub. All using 210-256 Watts of power according to the software. The software says I can add more to my Battery Backup.

Only time will tell when I will need to replace the battery, one thing is for sure that the Energy Efficient setting when turned on is making this battery fail a self test when turned on.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Happy

Pros: After 6 months the unit has died due to charging problems and I was receiving errors before that. I would avoid this model APC from the reviews it looks like this is a known issue so APC should be covering shipping both ways.

Cons: Dead APC

Other Thoughts: I'm going to try a different brand APC has always been the best but I have my doubts about that now.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy to setup.

Cons: I purchased this in May of 2012. The first one I received was DOA. The replacement unit just died today August, 29th, 2013. Both were internal hardware failures, not related to the battery. Quality control?

1 out of 5 eggsBuy another brand

Pros: Will make a good stop or boat anchor

Cons: First clue should have been receiving the unit without a software DVD, saved APC $2 :( ... unit functioned decently for approx 6 months and then had off and on recharging problems ... after 1 1/2 unit failed ... customer support is a bad joke ... would cost too much to send the unit to them and also since a UPS is needed had to purchase a new one anyway ... APC was a very good brand in the past, obviously they have become too large and no longer care about customers ... best to purchase another brand ... I did from Newegg, it arrived today and is now in use ... goodbye APC :(
