Features
Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) - Incoming AC power is electronically regulated for dips and spikes AVR takes this irregular AC power and converts it into a consistent Sinewave so sensitive electronic equipment can achieve its optimal performance.
EMI/RFI - Provides shielding against electromagnetic interference & radio frequency signals. Most commonly, this is used to prevent line noise or “humming” that occurs over telephone lines or stereo electronics.
USB Connectivity - HID compliant USB port enables full integration with built-in power management and auto shutdown features of Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.
PowerPanel Plus ™ Power Management Software – In the event of a power outage, PowerPanel Plus will safely save and close your open files and shut your computer down in an orderly, intelligent manner. The software allows users to view detailed information about their electrical power and the vitals of the UPS.  It includes configurable system notifications, automatic self tests, adjustable high/low voltage warnings, event/data logging, and scheduled shutdowns.
RM/T Configuration – The PR series can be mounted either in Tower or Rackmount (2U) form.
Metal Housing – Rigid metal construction allows for placement in areas with a demanding environment.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent product

Pros: This UPS has been great. I purchased it from Newegg back in 2003 and it's been running every day since. The original batteries lasted a very long time. It doesn't overcharge and fry them like every APC I've had the misfortune of working with. Software for Linux is provided, so you can control it via command line.

Batteries are changed through the front panel, and doesn't require shutting it off. This is good for an environment where uptime is important.

It can be switched on without an AC supply, unlike many others I've worked with, which required shorting of the plug in some way. It will also run and charge from a modified-sine inverter.

Cons: No native USB support, it comes with an adapter, but the UI isn't quite as nice as the newer ones, if you're worried about that. No expansion port for environmental monitoring, or network interface.

The battery cover (plastic bit that snaps on the front for aesthetics) broke off fairly easily.

Other Thoughts: I have my workstation, server, three monitors, modem, router, switch, and speakers, which displays as about a 50% load.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going since 2006??!!

Pros: I've owned one of these since Jan 2006, and it still works great, with the original batteries no less. This unit has been in daily use the entire time. Pretty amazing.

Cons: The only minus is that the unit can make a pretty loud hum when the printer is in use. Oddly the hum/buzz mostly happens after the main printing is done. It's enough to vibrate the ups case strongly, sounds bad, but does not seem to cause issues.

5 out of 5 eggs8 years & still going strong

Pros: I bought this unit back in 2005 if memory serves correct from another site for ~$200 on sale, still going strong 8 years later. Primarily used in my bedroom, now in the living room to power a desktop, 46" tv, PS3 & onkyo 7.1 system. I have never had to replace the battery. What more can you ask for?

Cons: Hums loudly sometimes, might just be that the unit is pretty old at this point.

1 out of 5 eggsnot durable

Pros: not DOA

worked ok for about a year (environment: frequent power outs for a few sec to a few minuets, maybe two major power outs lasting several hours)

Cons: after one year of use the battery no longer charges (only one light on bar/meter at all times) and the fan revs up randomly even though room temp is low (quite noisy)

heavy (most batteries are heavy)

expensive

Other Thoughts: other brand is older but is still working without problems...

4 out of 5 eggs1st one bought in 2003 I think.

Pros: All plugs are Batt and Surge protected. Awesome. Up to this point it has always provided me upwards of 45 min of run time for my PC, 30" monitor, router, speakers and a few other minor items. I replaced the batteries once back in 2006. The unit protects against everything except a direct hit, which is what happened to me just a few weeks ago. To be fair, the direct hit also took out a few of the other UPS systems I have in the house. for reasons I don't understand a 1350 APC and a Costco unknown brand survived. I believe that my unit is still good and only requires new batteries, but I will be getting a new unit also.

Cons: I suppose I'm a bit disappointed that it didn't protect against a direct hit on the house, when a few of the other brands did, but the other brands don't provide me the run time this unit does during a regular outtage.

The unit seems to run hot. This is the reason I didn't give it a 5 star. The built in Fan turns on a lot, and I have it in a well ventalated area, so this is my only real complaint about the unit.

Other Thoughts: I will be getting another CPS1500AVR, and I hope Cyberpower doesn't plan on retiring this unit anytime soon. I recommend this unit!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Got mine early spring 2004, Using the original Batterys, tells you something about the electronics! Just got its little brother N82E16842102134 for my wife's PC, hope it will last just as long.

Cons: none, other than a slight hum when heavy load with my new x79 maxed out!

5 out of 5 eggs6 years and still running

Pros: Bought 1/2006.
It still provides about 45 minutes of backup power for my cable modem and wireless router when the power goes out!

I did plug in that serial port connector once while the computer was on - that was a mistake! shorted out the serial port. Can't communicate with the box now lol

Cons: None really. Probably time to replace.

5 out of 5 eggsAfter five years...

Pros: If you are like me and want the best protection for your electronics, I believe this is it. All six plugs are fully protected. The wiring in the previous house I lived in was questionable. Plug a vacuum cleaner in the same circuit as my power hungry desktop and there goes the breaker. I originally bought this to give me plenty of time to shut down my computer and not lose critical work when this happened. The CPS1500AVR performed better than that. Back in our CRT days, the TV in the office would flicker because of a brown-out or whatever, and my desktop with its 20" CRT remained steady. This UPS never made a peep.

Cons: CyberPower does not sell battery replacements for its products.
This puppy weighs a ton! But that's not really a legitimate complaint. 1500VA, hello! There is an audible hum in a dead quiet room. Definately not for a bedroom. Yeah, I had it in there when I did not have an office.

Other Thoughts: The CPS1500AVR is overkill for the average user. I never used the software that came with it because I never felt that it was needed. Still don't.

After just over a full five years, the fan in it comes on about every five minutes and the battery meter is at the 40-60% mark. I have contacted CyberPower and hope to confirm it is just the batteries saying goodbye. Being they are in a "pack" according to the user manual, I also want to make sure that average tools can be used to replace the four batteries. I expect no surprises.

I have been a NewEgg customer since at least April of 2005. This is the only place I go for computer related items since that date, and the only online reseller that I recommend. I have been building my own PCs since the first Pentium came out.

NewEgg ROCKS!

2 out of 5 eggsWorks, if it arrives in one piece

Pros: For a rackmount UPS this is a pretty decent price for a simple rack server. I've used several Cyberpower UPS units before and haven't really had any issues with them.

Cons: Terrible packaging. Of four units I have ordered three of them have arrived literally in pieces. Now, this isn't completely a fault of the manufacturer and is also to blame on the carrier, but the packaging that this unit comes in is (I hate to say it) worthless. This did arrive in a double-box where the retail box was partially wrapped in a brown shipping box. But that brown box was shredded and the UPS literally fell apart in pieces when I pulled it out of the box.

Other Thoughts: The poor packaging seems to be a common issue with this unit as I see other reviews about it and have heard from other purchasers having the same problem. Also given that you can purchase a block-style UPS that is just as powerful for about half the cost, I can't really recommend purchasing this unit.
