Cons: Had over 20 of them fail in various locations - office and home. While they seem to handle blackouts, they drop power completely during short periods (less than 1 sec) of interruption. At work we had 4 occassions of short power outage and 50% of the computers on these UPSes rebooted. At home, wife turns on vacuum and my computer reboots because of the momentary power drop. Manufacturer replaced ~10 of them directly, but doesn't admit any problem.
Other Thoughts: First time I have ever owned a UPS that creates the problem that it is supposed to prevent.
Manufacturer Response:Thank you for the feedback on our CP800AVR. Our electrical engineers, in our Quality Control National Laboratories, performed electrical tests on the units you returned. A variety of charge profiles were investigated and characterized. Our results were inconclusive. We would like to talk with you regarding your usage of these units to further trouble shot the problem. Please contact our Tech Support Dept at 1-877-297-6937.

Wow - Impressive

Pros: Up to 200k worth of protection!! protects phone/cable connections, along with USB/Firewire connections, very stable, software closes apps and auto saves files and shuts down comp. without having to worry about running to your machine to shut it down - Protects against power surges, and regulates improper voltages and power -
Cons: None thus far.
Other Thoughts: For the price, protection and warrenty this is a great deal - I have sold 30+ cyberpower UPS backup systems (various models) over the past 4 years, NONE have failed, no RMA's, all have good batteries to my knowledge and have worked flawless when the power went out -

Pros: Works as advertised, power keeps flowing when the plug is pulled. The provided software, PowerPanel Personal Edition has a decent UI, a decent set of features and information, and seems fairly bug free. Powering a Core 2 Duo E6750 with 4GByes, 4 hard disks and an Nvidia 6600 (system draws about 100 - 120 watts), the battery will last about 25 minutes (no monitor included).
Cons: The system has an "autorestart" function: After line power is restored, the system waits about 70 seconds, and then briefly power-cycles the battery-powered outlets (the power is cut briefly, for a second or two and then restored). An attached computer will sense the off-then-on power cycle and, depending on BIOS settings, restart the computer. (Otherwise there would be no automatic way to restart a computer that has done an orderly shutdown on battery power.) This is all a good thing.
However, if the power goes out, the computer shuts down, the power gets restored, and then during the next 70 seconds (before the autorestart power-cycle happens) the power goes out again, then when the power comes on the 2nd time the system does not perform the autorestart function, which means any attached PC does not get restarted. So there is a 70 second window during which a 2nd power outtage will leave any attached PCs in a permanent off state.

Hmmm...not bad!

Pros: ~15 mins loaded up.
Cons: Can't turn on or work at all without a battery.
Other Thoughts: 1/2 egg off because my UPS battery died in just 3 years without HEAVY power drain. 1/2 egg off because the UPS won't even turn on with a dead battery. This means that you can't even use it as a surge supressor until you replace the battery. The 4 eggs are for reliability. I've observed maybe 4 power lapses and 1 outage where it went for ~30 minutes in 2 years. The last one (the outage) killed the battery so completely that the UPS wouldn't turn back on - replaced it and it's working fine again.
It lasts ~15 mins with a few devices plugged into it. I'm trying to make a profile of all my UPS units, seeing what they run for how long. Never believe the runtimes posted because they're just not true even under ideal circumstances.
U-Verse Residential Gateway and 3 External Hard drives and the UPS battery is drained in ~15 mins.

PowerPanel Personal Edition SW

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: This a very good backup and works really good
Cons: The PowerPanel Personal Edition SW has a problem; not every reboot it start working so you don't have any indication about the status of your UPS. But if you take it off from the startup list and start it manually it works great but you cannot minimize it to your task bar. The manufacture solution is to send you a Serial Cable and work with Windows UPS; well the new Motherboards don't have a Serial port!!! I hope they will come soon with a new SW version that does work when you boot your computer.
Other Thoughts: None

Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) - Incoming AC power is electronically regulated for dips and spikes AVR takes this irregular AC power and converts it into a consistent Sinewave so sensitive electronic equipment can achieve its optimal performance. EMI/RFI - Provides shielding against electromagnetic interference & radio frequency signals. Most commonly, this is used to prevent line noise or “humming” that occurs over telephone lines or stereo electronics. Transformer-spaced Outlets - Widely spaced outlets allow you to conveniently add large transformer-based plugs without compromising the utility of other outlets. USB Connectivity - HID compliant USB port enables full integration with built-in power management and auto shutdown features of Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. PowerPanel is quickly and easily installed on any Windows-based PC and is designed to utilize minimal system resources. Diagnostic screens give immediate visuals of the UPS’s status, and also include the following features: Silent operation mode, configurable system notifications, automatic self tests, adjustable high/low voltage warnings, event/data logging, and scheduled shutdowns. LED Indicators - LED status lights indicate Power-On and wiring faults. Audible Alarms - Audible tones identify when the unit is running off battery power, unit overloads and low battery. Convenient Mounting – Multiple mounting options: horizontal, vertical, cabinet, and wall. Resettable Circuit Breaker - Convenient unit reset switch in case of an overload.
