5 out of 5 eggsinvest in one of these

This review is from: CyberPower Intelligent LCD Series CP1500AVRLCD 1500VA 900W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: Great product. If you value your electronics get one of these for each computer and flat screen you own. I own 8, none have failed on me, and I keep going back to CyberPower when I need another one. Power straight out of the wall socket to your electronics is harmful. A battery backup with voltage regulation is exactly what you need. Brown and blackouts, power surges, lightening storms - you name it. CyberPower has you covered.

Cons: This is a replacement for the original I ordered. The original was destroyed in transit. Like CHAMPIONS, newegg quickly helped me get a replacement. Note: If you order one of these, demand it be in good working / looking condition when it arrives. It's not a good idea to have a banged up 20 lb battery in questionable shape in your setup.

Other Thoughts: Had to return original order due to it being destroyed in transit.

4 out of 5 eggsNearly 7 Years, Still Running With Only A Few Blips. GREAT Price..

This review is from: CyberPower Intelligent LCD Series CP1500AVRLCD 1500VA 900W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: Easy Setup
Great Price
Decent Software (when it works)*
Performs well during power outages
Good looking unit
Nice spacing of outlets (this is overlooked on some units)

Cons: Some wonky conditions have happened
Software doesn't always work on boot
Some options on PP software not available on Windows 10?
Ethernet port doesn't really work**

Other Thoughts: *The software chooses when it wants to work on boot, especially on fast boot with a fast system
**Ethernet port, when in use, will somehow lock up my router. Haven't really figured that out so I don't use it anymore

This unit has served me well since 2009. Yup that's nearly 7 years, and I have had setups that have squeezed every single ounce of that 900W and THEN SOME. When I had a tri-crossfire Radeon 280x setup if I ran Furmark I would overload it on the battery side and it would shut itself down after 3 or 4 minutes if I didn't close the benchmark! I've since moved on to more efficient builds, with Intel core i7 4770k @ 4.4ghz and 2x Nvidia 980ti in SLI, with a G-sync monitor and printer and such attached as well. I put all this in here to show that I have stressed this UPS to the max at times, even for about a straight year stretch before I realized how stupid a tri-crossfire system was.

My power has gone out over the years more than a few times. Each time, the unit has performed as it should, with the exception of shutting my PC down correctly. I think it's the hibernation settings, which I don't have enabled on my SSD drive. Or maybe not. My previous build I seem to remember it did it's job 100% correctly but that was 5 years back.

A month or so ago, all my equipment shut off all of a sudden, scaring the begesus (really Newegg we can't say cr@p?) out of me. I booted back up and my PC said I had a power surge!!! Which is EXACTLY what this thing is supposed to prevent. Fortunately my PSU and my other equipment is just as advanced as this thing is supposed to be, so nothing was harmed. After that, and after I booted back up, the PSU showed 0% charge. I thought the unit had a bad batter now, but lo and behold it charged back up after a day, so I do honestly think I had a slight surge, and the unit didn't really handle it well and it discharged the battery. Guess I got lucky so just in case I am looking for a new one, and I WILL probably stick with Cyber.

The software is weird. I have read you are supposed to have some voltage options and such, but I get no such thing. Sometimes when my PC boots it won't communicate with the UPS correctly and show an exclamation point on the icon. On reboot it fixes. Seemed to happen more when I loaded all USB drivers on boot rather than post. Also, sometimes the options will be greyed out for some reason and it may take a reboot or two before I can mess with them again. After 7 years, the self-test software SAYS I still have a 100% charge, at it states I have a 39 minute load time, but the self test reports I have an insufficient run time available upon completion of the test, so not sure what that means.

The problem with the ethernet port was odd. Every once in a while my router would hard lock and it would take many, many resets to fix it. This went on for a year, and I tried SO many different things to fix it, until finally I removed the ethernet cable from the UPS and moved it straight to my switch. That was 2 years ago and I haven't had a single problem with my router since. Thus that was the problem, and I have seen other reviews speak of problems with the ethernet port, so I would recommend NOT using this.

My connection to my PC is via USB, FYI.

On nearly 7 years going, I still trust this UPS to protect my $2600 rig. That's a seal of approval you can bank on.

All in all, I highly recommend this UPS. For nearly 5 years other than the ethernet port I had 100% trouble-free operation on a power sucking system. Switching to more energy efficient hardware has probably prolonged the life a bit, and I am at nearly 7 years and counting. For 900 watts at <$200 with the performance and software, you really can't go wrong. Some little issues here and there keep it from 5 eggs, but that doesn't mean it's not a great piece of hardware to protect your precious $2000+ worth of computer hardware with!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

This review is from: CyberPower Intelligent LCD Series CP1500AVRLCD 1500VA 900W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: - Power
- Display
- Software

Cons: na

Other Thoughts: These are great, through the whole line right down to the 600 watt. The display on the unit is great, the software is informative & helpful and the windows 7 widget is awesome for real time monitoring to see real time stats.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CyberPower Intelligent LCD Series CP1500AVRLCD 1500VA 900W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: One day, a big thunderstorm went through my area and caused a few electrical surges to our house. While all other electrical devices were affected and my TV's speaker system got shorted, my computer parts were untouched. That UPS really came in handy!

Cons: When I received the package, the package looked like it was thrown across the room. The UPS itself had a scratch on one of its sides.

Other Thoughts: However, at the end of the day, it did the most important job, protecting my components. I was able to play my video games while everyone else in my family was stuck waiting for it to be safe to turn on the TV and other computers.

3 out of 5 eggs8/5/12 - 8/11/15 RIP

This review is from: CyberPower Intelligent LCD Series CP1500AVRLCD 1500VA 900W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: Works as advertised and the 8 outlets very handy. I owned this product 3 years and ran desktop, 2 monitors, router, modem through it.

Cons: Died right at the expiration of the limited 3 year parts warranty. For a higher priced UPS, i expected more life.

Other Thoughts: Decent insurance for your electronic devices if you can get a cheap price. Remember you are buying for 3 years.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly.

This review is from: CyberPower Intelligent LCD Series CP1500AVRLCD 1500VA 900W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: Runs very well. No immediate threat of my house blowing up like one of the reviews said.
Huge load capacity. I'm running 2-4 computers on this (two being "gaming" rigs, 300W a piece usually), router, network switch, monitors, a lamp, and a fan off of this (plus some other tidbits in my room).

Cons: The bright blue LED for the power button (whenever the unit is on). It's seriously bright, kind of hard to not notice it when I'm in bed (in the same room). I might put tape over it or something. It's that bad.

Other Thoughts: Now, I've never actually *owned* a UPS (besides the one that came with my main home router), so I might be making bad practices with everything I have plugged into here. While the UPS definitely can handle the computers, monitors, and other room accessories without a flinch (from what I've noticed anyways; I live in Florida so power drop-outs are pretty common during even a drizzle of rain), I feel like I'm committing a sin by plugging up three or four power strips into it. I've seen people daisy chain these things to a UPS, so I assume it's safe .. but regardless it does worry me. I'm considering redoing my wiring so I can not pull like 700W from a single outlet of the UPS.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome for the price!

This review is from: CyberPower Intelligent LCD Series CP1500AVRLCD 1500VA 900W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: 900 watts!
Measures total wattage usage which is really helpful for my rig.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: bought this to protect my rig which has a 1050 watt PSU which will be running at 70-80% load when gaming.
