CyberPower PR2200LCDRT2U Line-Interactive UPS System

Offering battery backup protection for servers, telecom equipment, VoIP and internetworking hardware requiring pure sine wave output and Active PFC power source compatibility.

Why you need it: When power goes out for even a second it can result in data loss and hardware damage which can shorten equipment life expectancy. This battery backup unit provides sufficient emergency runtime power to allow for safe closure of open files and proper shut down of electronics when an outage occurs. In addition, it safeguards electronics from commonly occurring power surges caused by storms, activity on the power grid or high-powered equipment turning on and off. Full buck/boost Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) stabilizes incoming voltage, preventing costly business interruptions and chronic problems caused by minor but frequent power fluctuations.

Typical Use

Provides backup power and surge protection for corporate and departmental servers, telecom equipment, VoIP and Internetworking hardware requiring pure sine wave output and Active PFC power source compatibility. Safeguards valuable documents, image files and connected equipment from loss or damage due to power fluctuations and surges, as well as uncontrolled equipment shutdown caused by power interruptions.

Product Highlights

Pure Sine Wave Output — Provides power protection to Energy Star 5.0 devices with Active PFC power supplies and non-APFC power supplies.

Surge Protection — Prevents damage to equipment from surges and spikes, including lightning, and also safeguards telephone and fax equipment, cable modems and routers from power surges traveling through unprotected phone or data lines. The amount of energy a surge protector can absorb is measured in joules. A higher joule rating means more protection.

ENERGY STAR Qualified — Recognized by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as one of the most energy efficient battery backup units available.

Full Buck/Boost Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) — Corrects minor power fluctuations, including under and over-voltages, without switching to the battery, thereby extending battery life - essential in areas where power fluctuations occur frequently.

Multifunction LCD Panel — Displays battery backup vitals for easy monitoring of run-time and power conditions.

Additional Features

Energy-Saving Technology — GreenPower UPS Bypass Design saves energy costs by reducing power consumption and heat buildup.

Remote Computer Monitoring — PowerPanel Business Edition management software allows for controlling and monitoring the battery backup remotely, when an optional network card is installed, to safeguard open files and connected equipment during an outage.

USB & Serial Communication Ports — Allows communication between the battery backup unit and the PowerPanel software installed on the connected computer to enable power management and auto shutdown functionality.

Noise Filtering — Advanced EMFI/RFI noise filtering coils reduce electromagnetic and radio frequency interference that cause disruptive humming and static.

Audible Alarms — Distinctive tones sound when the backup unit is on battery power, overloaded or low on power. The alarm can be silenced if desired.

FREE PowerPanel Business Edition Management Software

PowerPanel BE is included with this battery backup unit and is easily downloaded and installed on any computer. Its diagnostic screens facilitate complete control of the battery backup unit's capabilities.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat for shortest outages or no outages at all

Pros: - Impressive specs
- Good software
- 4 batteries
- Sufficient outlets

Cons: - If the battery ever depletes (like in a long outage) it never comes back. I have 3 duds sitting here plugged in to prove it.

Other Thoughts: One weekend our building told us our local electric company is doing maintenance and we should shut everything down and unplug. Note the batteries were full at the time and no load since all servers shut down. We did so, shut down servers and unplugged the 3 large CyberPower units. Came back on Sunday morning, plugged everything back and... one Cyberpower came back but only in battery mode, as if it was not plugged in (yes, we checked outlets, fuses, little breakers on the back, etc, etc, etc...), but the other two never clicked, never beeped, never did anything, they went from happy to dead in 24 hours. Have been keeping them plugged in for the past 6 months and they are dead to the world. Not a click, not a bleep, nothing. The one that came back is acting erratic and I don't trust it anymore. I am now running my servers on ancient (cca 2008) APC units (ugly, white, grimy and with no displays - but still kicking) since my bosses can't fathom that I spent thousands on these bricks that just sit there, dead. Cyberpower units look nice and everyone loves them for their low price and their fancy blue displays, but in case of an emergency, these things are frustrating and if you are an IT professional, they can cost you your job or even your life via a heart attack. We buy these things for peace of mind. I got no peace and my mind is boggled. These are designed not to come back up (ever, unless you really believe 6 months of charging is not enough time) if the battery drops to a certain level so if your outage is longer than a few hours, you're toast. I can't even blame it on a bad batch since I bought them all separate. Whoever designed this should be fired or put into jail. Why 3 eggs then? Well, sounds like others are happy with these, don't want to ruin their happiness.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: -Low noise
-Sturdy Rack mounts
-Solid Performance
-6 Receptacles
-Live battery pack swap
-Cheap

Cons: -Packaging was terrible

Other Thoughts: It's has been powering 2 servers, 2 switches, 1 NAS for over 2 years now. Last night I had to borrow it to power a sump pump which requires a large draw of power in short(30 second) intervals. It had no issues. I would buy 2 more if they were in stock.

2 out of 5 eggsTwo down one to go

Pros: Good monitoring software, lots of features. Not too bad of a price. I have three of these devices and two of the PR1500LCDRT2U also. I have used several other models in the past without any problems. Cyberpower is the brand I go to for UPS devices.

Cons: Two of the PR2200LCDRT2U’s had the same problem as the customer reviewing before me. Mine seem to work fine and within a month or so, (just long enough to be out of the thirty day return policy) they went haywire on me and displayed that there were no batteries too. One started working after I unplugged it and then tried to turn it on. It showed full battery but when I put a load on it and ran it through some tests with the software it went crazy again. The logs said the unit was failing. I know Cyberpower will replace it like they did the first one but it did cost almost $100.00 to ship it back. This time it worked long enough for me to get rid of the box too so I will have to purchase packing for it also. More money. I think there may be a flaw in this model. Too bad….

Other Thoughts: I still like this model and will give it another try I guess, in hopes it will be a good one this time and work like the others I have used in the past.

2 out of 5 eggsShipped with dead battery

Pros: The unit is feature right - with a decent management interface. I am able to view real-time usage statistics.

Cons: The unit was shipped with either a dead battery, or something else. I plugged it in, and it thinks the battery is missing. This is not what a UPS is for!
