3 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CyberPower Standby Series CP425SLG 425 VA 255 W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: The price. Not expensive at all.

So far, it's doing what it's supposed to do. Keeps my computer/router running when the power blinks.

Cons: Since I installed this, the entire room stinks of that burning plastic/electronics smell. I know that's pretty typical of a new UPS out of the box, but this one is pretty strong and has been going on for a few days. It's not like I'm putting a heavy load on it or anything.

Will probably replace this thing if that doesn't stop very soon.

Other Thoughts: Didn't purchase from newegg.

2 out of 5 eggsDead

This review is from: CyberPower Standby Series CP425SLG 425 VA 255 W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: Worked for almost a year

Cons: Dead after not even a year it beeped one day then long beep and smelt smoke

Other Thoughts: support hasn't emailed me back 20 emails later still nothing

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your review on the CyberPower CP425SLG. The issue you describe is not typical. The CP425SLG is only able to handle a maximum of 255 watts - the equivalent of an entry level PC and monitor. It's possible you may have overloaded the unit. With that being said, if the UPS is defective CyberPower has a 3 year warranty on all of our UPS models and it even includes the battery.

3 out of 5 eggsokay

This review is from: CyberPower Standby Series CP425SLG 425 VA 255 W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: UPS, strong cable. Still operational

Cons: Had a server with a 1000 watt supply. When I started doing SQL stuff and started using the CPUs/GPU, well the voltage wasn't enough and surge protector shut off.

Moved to my personal PC thats less power hungry (870 watt PSU), worked fine. Upgrade SDDs and the WEI that activated my video card, made the UPS fail.

Other Thoughts: Not super waste of money, but I would not buy CyberPower again.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your review on the CyberPower CP425SLG. This model is an entry level UPS and is only able to handle a maximum of 255 watts - the equivalent of an entry level PC and monitor. Connecting wattage higher than 255 will overload the UPS. If you are connecting higher than 255 watts, please consider one of our higher capacity models. Our web site has a "UPS Sizing Tool" which will help guide you to the correct models that match your needs - www.cpsww.com. If you would like to discuss the issues you have with this model, please contact CyberPower’s Tech Support Team either via phone at 877-297-6937 or via email at priority1@cpsww.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work

This review is from: CyberPower Standby Series CP425SLG 425 VA 255 W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: Price good.

Cons: Doesn't work. I wrote ann earlier reveiw on this item. Newegg gave me an RMA for it. I didn't want the hassel of shipping and waiting on the replacement. Ordered a battery from Big Time Battery & Electronics based through Newegg based on the numbers on the bad battery and what Newegg listed as a replacement. Got the battery today and it is too big for the UPS case but has proper voltage. It does not have any of the battery numbers that it should have if it is a replacement for mine. I hooked it up to the UPS and it works fine.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on CyberPower's CP425SLG. All of our UPS models have a 3 year warranty which also includes the batteries. 1 out of 5 eggsWon't turn on.

This review is from: CyberPower Standby Series CP425SLG 425 VA 255 W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: Good for what I want to use it for. Small size. Good price, as usual, from Newegg. Seems well enough made just a bad battery.

Cons: Didn't work. As mentioned in "Other thoughts", battery is defective.

Other Thoughts: Didn't work. Won't turn on. Tested battery and found to be 0.6 vdc. Should be at least 12 vdc after 8 hours charging. Battery won't charge. No current flows into it when placed on a 12 vdc trickle charge. When the battery in a UPS is bad thet won't turn on by design although the non-battery backup outlets work. Replace battery is $16.80. May just get it so I don't have to go through the hassel of the RMA process & shipping.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding the CyberPower CP425SLG. CyberPower offers an industry leading 3-Year Warranty on all of our UPS products, which also includes the battery. 4 out of 5 eggsDid a good job

This review is from: CyberPower Standby Series CP425SLG 425 VA 255 W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: Good life span, very reasonable price, good spacing between plugs, heavy duty cord.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Bought three of these 2 1/2 years ago. One just died and for the price that is a decent life span. I wasn't really monitoring the battery so it may have actually gone bad even earlier. By bad I mean not even enough battery life to power a computer long enough to shut down. Replacement batteries are cheap.

3 out of 5 eggsnot for Power users

This review is from: CyberPower Standby Series CP425SLG 425 VA 255 W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: Works in range it is good for.. but range is limited.

Cons: This back up is only good enough to handle a PC and Monitor and only if the PC is not pulling any power to play online games or other CPU intense usage. Sounds alarms at the first real use of any power computing.

Other Thoughts: Save yourself the trouble and pay a little more for a better UPS

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for trying the CP425SLG. This model is an entry level UPS. The CP425SLG is only able to handle a maximum of 255 watts - the equivalent of an entry level PC and monitor. If you a connecting anything higher than 255 watts, such as a "gaming PC", the UPS will be overloaded and will alert you to the overload. We would recommend you consider one of our higher wattage models which will accommodate the gaming PC’s higher wattage and provide greater backup time. The CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD will fit your requirements well. Our web site has a "UPS Selector Guide" which will help guide you to the correct models that match your needs - www.cpsww.com. Thank you, Cyber Power Systems

5 out of 5 eggsDid a Good Job

This review is from: CyberPower Standby Series CP425SLG 425 VA 255 W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: I installed 2 of these units in 2006, I only have my internet equipment connected, I use Wireless internet, with 2 radios, 1 switch, 1 AP,1 router. These units are set up 40 ft apart and keep my VOIP Internet telephone equipment on line in a power outage for 2 hours, using the old phones that do not need power.
I do not use them for monitors or computer equipment. 1 unit just died, the other is still working.
I can't complain as they have served me well.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsabsolute garbage

This review is from: CyberPower Standby Series CP425SLG 425 VA 255 W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: none

Cons: Absolute rubbish. Defective out of the box. installed to replace 5 year old APC. A week later begins beeping with battery failure. Feels flimsy and lightweight compared to APC. I go through about 50 UPS devices a year for my customers. I took a chance on this one and the first CyberPower I buy is defective.

Other Thoughts: Total waste of money. Customer mad i sold them something dead so soon. Spend the extra for the APC. They are on my non-approved vendor list now.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding the CyberPower CP425SLG. Based on the experience described, this may be a result of overloading of the UPS. The CP425SLG is designed to emit an alarm when it is overloaded. If you are running a sytem with a large power supply, you may have exceeded the unit’s 255 watt maximum load capacity, and initiated the overload alarm. We'd be happy to trouble shoot the problem. Please contact us immediately at 877-297-6937 M-F 8-5 CS, or priority1@CPSww.com, so that we can act to completely address your issue and ensure your total satisfaction.

CyberPower offers an industry leading 3-Year Warranty on all of our UPS products, which includes the battery. With that said, we do sincerely apologize for any negative experience you have had involving this specific UPS unit.

3 out of 5 eggsCheap fix, but it will only last a couple of months

This review is from: CyberPower Standby Series CP425SLG 425 VA 255 W 8 Outlets UPS

Pros: Price and design.

Cons: It has a 30-day warranty. Enough for the manufacturer, as mine did not make it to the 4-month. Did not even fool with their warranty, as I knew I was going to get Junk from them anyways. The problem is not the battery, it's the device itself, if i could at least use it as a Power Strip, but not even that, once it dies, it literally won't even work plugged straight into an outlet as a Power Strip.

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding the CyberPower CP425SLG. CyberPower offers an industry leading 3-Year Warranty on all of our UPS products, which is backed by our U.S., based Technical Support. Please contact us at 877-297-6937 M-F 8-5 CST, or priority1@CPSww.com, so that we can act to completely address your issue and ensure your total satisfaction.
