CyberPower OR2200LCDRTXL2U Line-Interactive UPS System

Offering battery backup protection for servers, telecom equipment, VoIP and internetworking hardware.

Why you need it: When power goes out for even a second it can result in data loss and hardware damage which can shorten equipment life expectancy. This battery backup unit provides sufficient emergency runtime power to allow for safe closure of open files and proper shut down of electronics when an outage occurs. In addition, it safeguards electronics from commonly occurring power surges caused by storms, activity on the power grid or high-powered equipment turning on and off. Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) stabilizes incoming voltage, preventing chronic problems caused by minor but frequent power fluctuations.

Typical Use

Provides backup power and surge protection for corporate and departmental servers, telecom equipment, VoIP and Internetworking hardware. Safeguards valuable documents, image files and connected equipment from loss or damage due to power fluctuations and surges, as well as uncontrolled equipment shutdown caused by power interruptions.

Product Highlights

Surge Protection — Prevents damage to equipment from surges and spikes, including lightning, and also safeguards telephone and fax equipment, cable modems and routers from power surges traveling through unprotected phone or data lines (RG6/RJ11/RJ45). The amount of energy a surge protector can absorb is measured in joules. A higher joule rating means more protection.

ENERGY STAR Qualified — Recognized by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as one of the most energy efficient battery backup units available.

Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) — Corrects minor power fluctuations, including under-voltages, without switching to the battery, thereby extending battery life - essential in areas where power fluctuations occur frequently.

Multifunction LCD Panel — Displays battery backup vitals for easy monitoring of run-time and power conditions.

Additional Features

Energy-Saving Technology — GreenPower UPS Bypass Design saves energy costs by reducing power consumption and heat buildup.

Remote Computer Monitoring — PowerPanel Business Edition management software allows for controlling and monitoring the battery backup remotely, when an optional network card is installed, to safeguard open files and connected equipment during an outage.

USB & Serial Communication Ports — Allows communication between the battery backup unit and the PowerPanel software installed on the connected computer to enable power management and auto shutdown functionality.

Noise Filtering — Advanced EMFI/RFI noise filtering coils reduce electromagnetic and radio frequency interference that cause disruptive humming and static.

Audible Alarms — Distinctive tones sound when the backup unit is on battery power, overloaded or low on power. The alarm can be silenced if desired.

FREE PowerPanel Business Edition Management Software

PowerPanel BE is included with this battery backup unit and is easily downloaded and installed on any computer. Its diagnostic screens facilitate complete control of the battery backup unit's capabilities.

  • Intuitive dashboard design
  • Remote, real-time monitoring of battery backup status
  • Self-testing functionality

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Choice

Pros: Silent operation when grid power is on. (Not all UPS's are silent. Some drone all the time.) Fans only come on when grid power goes off. Also, the unit comes with rack mount hardware including a RACK SHELF! Controls are easy to use and graphic display makes sense.

Cons: This unit has a funny NEMA 5-20P plug. I had to build a standard plug cable stub with a 5-20P receptacle so I could plug it into a standard wall plug. But I'd buy this unit again.

Other Thoughts: Highest Quality.

4 out of 5 eggsCyberPower 2190VA, 1650 Watt UPS

Pros: Features, price, ease of operation.

Cons: Included rack mount didn't work for standard 19" 7 foot rack. Had to spend 50.00 on shelf for UPS to sit on in rack.

Other Thoughts: I had to return the first two because of physical damage, not sure if shipping company's fault or warehouse, or who. The box was heavy duty and it was packed well. Our server is running SBS2008 and has IE 9. The included software for communicating with the UPS didn't work on IE9 but worked fine on IE11. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 eggs was because it took three units before I felt comfortable installing it. I did find some very minor case/housing deformity when installing it.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible power on-tap, abundant/worry-free battery backup time available

Pros: Lots of POWER! Lots of BACKUP JUICE! Reinforces/surpasses expectations, maintained confidence in reliability and build-quality of CyberPower products. Finally, can toss miniature nuclear power source and depleted uranium rods in garbage or over fence into neighbor's back yard.

Cons: Really, REALLY heavy. Note that plug requires 20amp outlet/breaker (mine was physically incompatible with our standard 3-prong outlets). Swapped outlets with new 20amp w/GFCI unit (socket on far left should look sorta like a capitalized letter"T", but rotated 90° clockwise). Has worked fantastically, since initial install, but USB connection was a little cumbersome, included web-based software reported "communication error - not detected".

Other Thoughts: Fixed/worked-around USB communication problem by using a serial to USB converter cable, connecting the serial end to the CyberPower unit, and the USB end to one of my PCs USB ports. Crisis averted. Prior to having this unit, I was popping circuit breakers... sounded like gunfire. Determined that I needed more juice, due to system drawing close to 1400 Watts, during gaming. This bad boy can take the heat, and push electrons like a champion.

5 out of 5 eggsPure Power

Pros: Rackmountable, 8x 20amp battery backup outlets that are broken into two groups of four with individual circut breakers for both groups.

The LCD panel is a VERY nice touch allowing you to scroll through your output wattage, input/output voltage and Hz, it also gives you a % of what your total power draw through the unit is out of the 1650w availible, tells you your battery charge % and an estimated runtime based on the current power draw, The LCD has a blackout timmer if not used (30sec aprox) usefull when you dont want that bright blue screen on. heavy duty construction and good packaging.

Cons: Weights 60lbs
The side rack monts are confusing to use
The front cover is made of plastic for some reason???

Other Thoughts: Shipping cost, although it was nice to see the delivery guy used a dolly to bring it up to the door and then offered to roll it to my computer lab if i wanted.

It requires a 20amp 120v outlet, the unit is 300w below the 80% constant wattage usage "electrical code" for a 20amp circut.

I highly recommend this unit, it well worth the money for any one who has massive power consumption needs.
