5 out of 5 eggsGreat Battery Backup

This review is from: CyberPower CP1000PFCLCD UPS 1000 VA / 600 W PFC compatible Pure Sine Wave w/ USB Charging Ports

Pros: This is a great little battery backup that supports PFC.

Cons: None that I have found.

Other Thoughts: This is the best thing under a true online, double conversion system.

5 out of 5 eggsa Must Have

This review is from: CyberPower CP1000PFCLCD UPS 1000 VA / 600 W PFC compatible Pure Sine Wave w/ USB Charging Ports

Pros: This has provided great protection from frequent power outages in my area. The connection software works well and can shut down my computer for extended outages. This is a must have item for anyone who wants to keep their hardware safe. I run it in multiple locations for work and home. I plan on adding another one for my internet hardware soon.

Cons: Only con is when you first get it, it will show 100% charge. You have to do a system test (where it disconnects the battery to test it) after you plug it in so it accurately reads the level and fully charges it. I have had to do this on both units I own.

If you let it charge up fully after first test, you will notice a much higher run time if you test it again.

1 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware

This review is from: CyberPower CP1000PFCLCD UPS 1000 VA / 600 W PFC compatible Pure Sine Wave w/ USB Charging Ports

Pros: Price is OK

Cons: Faulty unit/model
Shuts off randomly

Other Thoughts: Buyer Beware: These Cyberpower units have a common fault F02 which is an internal short likely due to lack of quality control (these are made in China). My unit will completely shutoff with a fault F02 at completely random times that isn't detected by the Power Panel software. Do not trust your hardware to this UPS! It happens as frequently as about once per week.

I've contacted Cyberpower and was informed that this is a known fault in these units and I can send mine back for an exchange, however I must pay for shipping (these units are heavy and must be packaged properly $$$ cha-ching! ) and it'll take 4 weeks turn around time for a replacement. I have owned many Cyberpower products but this one leaves a really bad taste.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

This review is from: CyberPower CP1000PFCLCD UPS 1000 VA / 600 W PFC compatible Pure Sine Wave w/ USB Charging Ports

Pros: Does exactly what it says for a good price. It is a good looking device. This device exceeded my expectations. It easily handled a simulated power outage.

Cons: Minor transformer buzz when charging the battery. I have several tests in mind for this unit, I will let you all know if I find anything.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks for my purpose

This review is from: CyberPower CP1000PFCLCD UPS 1000 VA / 600 W PFC compatible Pure Sine Wave w/ USB Charging Ports

Pros: It's relatively cheap compare to other similar class products. Software is simple and works well... Does the job with 80 Plus Gold 750W PFC Power supply.

Cons: Battery only lasts for about 5 min (at most). However, I know that going in.

Other Thoughts: UPS is Connected to PC (with 2 HDD, 1SSD, 750 TI Graphic Card, 1 BR Drive, MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Mother Board, 2 8GB DDR3 1866 RAM, i7-4770K CPU overclocked to 4.2 GHz) and a 40 in LCD TV, Router with 5Ghz N Wireless LAN.

1 out of 5 eggsKills network speed

This review is from: CyberPower CP1000PFCLCD UPS 1000 VA / 600 W PFC compatible Pure Sine Wave w/ USB Charging Ports

Pros: cheap

Cons: The network jacks to protect the signal cable from carrying a surge only allows speed of 100 Mbps. So on a GIG network, it throttles speed down.

Cheap and disappointing! We had to find out after ordering. No more!

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you very much for purchasing CyberPower’s CP1000PFCLCD. We strive to provide the most reliable and highest quality products to our customers. CyberPower has been recognized as a 2013 All-Star for Best UPS and Power Conditioning Vendor by ChannelPro-SMB Magazine. We have also been recognized in the CRN Data Center 100 annual list in 2013 and 2014, featuring technology vendors whose solutions are vital for powering today’s data center. CyberPower is also #1 for ENERGY STAR UPS featuring the largest selection of ENERGY STAR qualified UPS Systems between 350VA to 10kVA.

We’re sorry the CP1000PFCLCD did not meet your particular requirement. The primary purpose for the CP1000PFCLCD is to provide high quality power protection with battery backup and surge protection to your connected equipment. Features include pure sine wave output, AVR technology for clean and consistent AC power, and ENERGY STAR compliance for reducing energy consumption and heat buildup. Although CyberPower’s base protection for phone/network (RJ11/RJ45) and cable/coax (RG-6) doesn’t meet every situation, it provides sufficient protection to most installations.

If you would like to discuss the issue you have with the networking capabilities of this model, please contact CyberPower’s Tech Support Team either via phone at 877-297-6937 or via email at priority1@cpsww.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

5 out of 5 eggsvery cool

This review is from: CyberPower CP1000PFCLCD UPS 1000 VA / 600 W PFC compatible Pure Sine Wave w/ USB Charging Ports

Pros: Does it's job. Works with my FreeNAS system to gracefully power down when the power goes out. Smaller than some of the older UPS systems I've owned.

Very nice LCD display with measurements such as voltage, run time, and power output (see other thoughts). LCD can be activated for a few seconds at a time by pressing a button, or locked on so it stays on all the time.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This thing has a real-time readout of power output, which is very cool. I have mine set to display that at all times. This way I always know how much power my system is using and I can even infer how busy the system is by its power use. For me, this has been an unexpected bonus feature.

2 out of 5 eggsWorks OK, but with 2 problems

This review is from: CyberPower CP1000PFCLCD UPS 1000 VA / 600 W PFC compatible Pure Sine Wave w/ USB Charging Ports

Pros: - Does the basic job of maintaining uninterrupted power
- Power is close enough to sine that the computer's PSU can use it without problems.
- Desktop Gadget will monitor one unit

Cons: - Desktop Gadget will monitor no more than one unit
- Cyberpower told me they are not going to increase the capacity of the software to monitor more than one unit.
- Occasionally during a power glitch, one of the computers hiccups, indicating a little delay in the power interactive feature between the wall power and the battery power.
** When power goes out, and stays out, these units beep periodically, keeping you from going to sleep. The alarm cannot be turned off, so you have to turn the whole unit off.

Other Thoughts: I bought four Cyberpower UPS's: three CP1500PFCLCD's and one CP1000PFCLCD to maintain my home network even when power is out. When power is killed, you must reboot a network in specified order. Since no one but me was willing to learn how, it meant that without UPS, if power went down, there was no more network until I got home.

These units keep my router functional when power goes down. And during hiccups, all three computer systems usually operate smoothly.
When power goes out, and stays out, these units beep periodically, keeping you from going to sleep. The alarm cannot be turned off, so you have to turn the whole unit off, so part of the reason for getting this unit is defeated: I not only have to turn off the UPS's, but I have to turn them on again and reboot the unit.

I would give this 3 stars but the one computer that has hiccups when the wall current hiccups shows that the interactive function is not as tight as it should be. After all, that computer has a Seasonic PSU . . .

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your feedback regarding CyberPower’s CP1000PFCLCD. The UPS alarm can be disabled two ways – the software that is included with the unit or the via the LCD display. To disable the alarm via the software, go to the “Notification” tab, under “UPS Alarms” select “Disable alarms at all times”. To silence the alarm via the LCD display, press on the button labeled “Silence Alarm” directly under the LCD display in the center. Hold the button for a couple of seconds, a mute icon will appear to confirm that the audible alarm has been disabled. If you need any assistance please contact us at 877-297-6937 M-F 8-5 CST, or priority1@CPSww.com.

4 out of 5 eggsUPS is nice

This review is from: CyberPower CP1000PFCLCD UPS 1000 VA / 600 W PFC compatible Pure Sine Wave w/ USB Charging Ports

Pros: Price for APFC PC power supply compatibility, small footprint, LCD screen with plenty of info.

Cons: Outlet configuration (not that that could be easily overcome)

Other Thoughts: The UPS arrived the very next day! As others have mentioned, the factory box was packed inside a larger box, using the small air bladder packaging (Cello Air Cushions). About half of these had deflated during shipment. Therefore, the unit was free to slide all around within the larger box; not at all a good situation for a heavy item. Styrofoam wrap or peanuts would be much better protection. I was relieved however, when the unit fired up and appeared to run correctly.
The outlets are indeed close together, causing the loss of a few of them if you need to install brick type plugs. However, this strikes me as a necessary trade off, if you want the unit's small footprint. Perhaps one could use a short corded surge strip off of a protected outlet for their bricks to get around this. But, I would check the warranty protection before using this method.
The LCD display is handy, showing all kinds of good info. For most, the current draw in volt amps or wattage, will be the most valuable initially. It will quickly show how close you are to the unit's capacity, and estimated runtime. This estimated no-load runtime display however, may not ring true, once the UPS has taken over the load. Without load, mine read 43 minutes, while under load it read 17. The only way to really tell, is to pull the plug and start timing.
With my system (listed below), I was using only 90w of the 600w available. So even though a call to CyberPower indicated I needed the 1000va, the 850va would have easily sufficed for me.
I cannot speak to the managing software with cable hookup, as I do not intend to use it. The fewer drivers in my system, the better, for less software conflicts and available memory. And, I am not usually very far off if my system is running. However, I realize the auto shutdown could be very important for others.
So far, all in all, I'm very pleased with the purchase.
