The CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD Adaptive Sinewave uninterruptible power supply (UPS) with pure sine wave safeguards computer systems that use conventional and Active Power Factor Correction (PFC) power supplies. Its automatic voltage regulation (AVR) topology delivers clean and consistent AC power. The patented GreenPower UPS advanced circuitry reduces UPS energy costs by up to 75% compared to competitive models.

CyberPower’s Adaptive Sinewave UPS with pure sine wave is the first to address the critical compatibility issues of non-Sinewave UPS products working with computing systems using Active PFC power supplies (ENERGY STAR 5.0 compliant). CyberPower’s innovative Adaptive Sinewave UPS is an affordable solution that ensures equipment utilizing Active PFC power supplies do not unexpectedly shutdown or experience harmful stress when switching from AC power to UPS battery power.

The CP1500PFCLCD has a capacity of 1500VA/900Watts, (10) NEMA 5-15R receptacles and (2) maintenance-free, user-replaceable 12V/8.5Ah batteries. The intelligent multi-function LCD panel displays real-time UPS vitals for ease of control. Connectivity via (1) HID USB and (1) DB9 serial ports. Surge Protection for RJ11/RJ45 & coax. Two 5Vdc USB 2.0 charging ports for portable devices. PowerPanel Personal Edition UPS Management software, a standard Three-Year Warranty and a $500,000 Connected Equipment Guarantee are included.

2 out of 5 eggsWon't switch to battery during/after a power transient

Pros: It looks nice, and no terminal hook-up is required.

Cons: There was a power outage overnight, and I woke up to the UPS being off. Later, I found out why: it can't switch to battery power. A self-test with everything off done by holding down the Control button for three seconds simply shuts the unit off. If that wasn't indication enough, I couldn't resist doing one with PowerPanel by hesitantly hitting the blue Initiate Self-Test button. Result: everything got knocked out and now my RAID's slowly rebuilding. This renders the UPS a glorified surge protector. Suffice it to say I went back to my little APC. I guess I'll try my luck with APC's 1500 VA model.

5 out of 5 eggsPowerful, compatible

Pros: Powerful enough for two loaded systems.
Keeps my SG-650 running; it is the most sensitive PSU I've ever owned, and shuts off if it doesn't like the input waveform. This UPS is close enough to a true sine wave that the SG doesn't hiccup.
Display panel provides good information, for example on the load wattage. With only one system running office-tasks, the run time should be close to an hour.
Software gadget provides comprehensive information on load, run time, and state of charge, and has unattended shutdown options including daily scheduling.
Has a couple of USB charging ports on it.
Essentially silent.
Reasonable price for what you get.

Cons: Batteries cannot be hot-swapped, but I don't think that's a feature needed by the target market.
It's a little heavy, but to be expected. Rubberized texturing or better shaping (e.g. a handle) would make it easier to carry or position. Only half of its ten outlets provide battery backup.

Other Thoughts: I was happy with this unit's smaller brother, but needed to be able to run two systems at my desk, so needed a bigger one. The software removes any hint of complexity; just set it up once and they you don't need to think about it. This has five powered outlets and five surge-only outlets; even a six-four split would have been nicer. With two PCs and monitors plugged in, one has to choose between one system's speakers and a desk lamp (I chose the lamp, although it would probably be safe to use a cube tap for this).

5 out of 5 eggsExactly what I needed

Pros: Good power output - 1500 is more than enough to allow me to finish, save, and shutdown in the case of a blackout. Hell, I can get to the next save point.

Attractive design - Looks good next to my computer.

Cons: None so far. I really won't have one unless the power goes out and it doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: It's more attractive and offers more bang for the buck than competitive products from other vendors. I have had an issue with jostling the plug just a bit causing the alarm to go off, but I believe that to be an issue with my outlet, not the unit. A quick tap back in and it's fine, every time.

5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid

Pros: Survived one power outage and kept everything running perfectly. USB ports on the front are actually nice and i use them a fair bit. The little voltage/battery/run time gadget is cool on the desktop. Not much else to say besides that it works for what i need.

Cons: None of my cons are really things that detract from the overall eggs/usefulness of this ups. the computer program it comes with sucks, its near useless. looks like something outa the 90's but it does work. It never really gave me an accurate run time on the battery, it was a little all over the place, didnt bother me any. Its also heavy, really heavy.

Other Thoughts: For the money this thing works perfect, got my computer, monitor, and router connected to this thing so during power outages i still have internet. With all that going i could get about a 45 min run time i think.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Unit

Pros: Efficient. Easy, quick setup. Nice, simple menu's for setup and scheduling. Rugged housing. Clean Sine Wave out. Observed it on an Oscilloscope. Good looking unit. LED display is great. The included software is a small and simple installation. I have more info in mind. All positive. But don't have time to write more detail's now.....

Cons: None come to mind.

Other Thoughts: A 1500 VA....900 watt U.P.S. with all of these feature's?
Ca not beat the price.

5 out of 5 eggsYes, you CAN make LCD STAY ON

Pros: Regarding this CyberPower UPS and other CyberPower UPS units that have the large LCD display, one of the most common complaints is that there is no way to keep the LCD display ON for more than a minute at a time.

Actually, THERE *IS* A SIMPLE WAY TO KEEP THE LCD DISPLAY ON, BUT IT IS NOT MENTIONED IN THE CYBERPOWER DOCUMENTATION. I experimented around and found out how to do it, so I am passing this information along in the hope that it helps other owners and prospective owners of these great little UPS units.

Like many product manuals today, the CyberPower manual is very skimpy, and DOES NOT MENTION AT ALL HOW TO TURN THE LCD ON AND THEN OFF PERMANENTLY. So I decided give a more COMPLETE rundown on what can be done with the controls on the front panel, just below the LCD.

*** TURN LCD ON FOR AT LEAST 60 SECONDS ***
If LCD is OFF, press and release the Display button to turn LCD ON for just 60 seconds.

Note: If you then press and release any of the Display or Silence Alarm or Control buttons, the display will stay on for 60 seconds following the last button press.

*** TURN LCD ON AND LEAVE IT ON UNTIL TURNED OFF MANUALLY ***
If LCD is OFF, press and hold Display button until you hear ONE beep. LCD will STAY ON until you turn it OFF Manually.

*** TURN LCD OFF AND LEAVE IT OFF UNTIL TURNED ON MANUALLY ***
If LCD is ON, press and HOLD Display button until you hear TWO beeps. LCD will turn OFF immediately.

*** NAVIGATE UP THROUGH THE DISPLAY MODES ***
While the LCD is ON, press and release the Display button to move UP one Display Mode at a time.

*** NAVIGATE DOWN THROUGH THE DISPLAY MODES ***
While the LCD is ON, press and release the Silence Alarm button to move DOWN one Display Mode at a time.

*** ACTIVATE ALARM SOUNDS ***
If the Silence Alarm button is held down for a second and ONE beep is heard, then the normal alarm sound is set ACTIVE, and the BELL OFF symbol DISAPPEARS from the LCD.

*** DE-ACTIVATE ALARM SOUNDS ***
If the Silence Alarm button is held down for a second and TWO beeps are heard, then the normal alarm sound is set INACTIVE, and the Bell Off symbol APPEARS on the LCD.

Note: If ANY LCD button is held down for more than a second after the beeps occur, then the alternate number of beeps will be heard, and the alternate function for that button will become active. The system will continue to cycle between functions until the button in question is released.

*** INITIATE UPS 10 SECOND SELF-TEST MODE ***
If the Control button is pressed, the LCD will turn ON for 60 seconds (if not already ON). If the Control button is held down for at least 2 seconds, the UPS will switch to UPS Self-Test Mode. There will be a click noise at the beginning and end of the ten second self-test. The UPS will switch over to battery power and display Minutes Remaining, Load bar graph, and Battery bar graph.

I hope you found this helpful.

5 out of 5 eggsSo Far So Good UPS

Pros: Compact and very modern looking. Has many different protected ports (USB, Coax, Telephone, Etc.). Easy to install. Basic software to connect with UPS. Easy to setup. The Unit is totally black with a light blue display. Very pretty to look at. I especially like the Wattage and amount of battery time you will have if power goes out depending on the wattage. My tower uses less than 200 watts and will last on battery power around forty minutes or more if power goes out. About one hour after installing the unit, My apartment power flickered three times. Computer never turned off. The screen went black for about a coupe of seconds then came back on without the computer restarting each time. I lost my digital clock settings on my microwave and oven and bedroom clock. The display also tells you the frequency of your power. Good way to see if your power fluctuates or is steady in your home.

Cons: Haven't had it long enough to see any cons. But I did have a hard time at first to get the UPS to start. For a minute i thought the unit was DOA. It turned out the battery was too low to allow the UPS to start up. But once the battery got some charge into it, The UPS powered up nicely and stayed on. I don't know how accurate the Charge Indicator is though.

Other Thoughts: So far I am pleased it past the test for the reason I got it. To prevent my computer from turning off when my home power flickers for a second or so every so often. The gadget is nice because it let me know constantly how much watts my Tower and monitor are using every second plus how much battery time I will have during a brown or black out. Very good technical information to have at your disposal.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great performance, good price. I would definitely buy another one of these.

Cons: Nothing major.

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if the UPS had more plugs that were wired for battery backup; however, I am able to run on battery my desktop, monitor, VM server, Ethernet switch, and cable modem, which is all I needed this for.

It would also be nice to have one of the plugs oriented differently so non-standard adapters won't bump into other plugs.
