CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD Line-Interactive UPS System

Offering battery backup protection for individual work areas, home networking, entertainment electronics and equipment requiring Active PFC power source compatibility.

Why You Need It:
When power goes out for even a second it can result in data loss and hardware damage which can shorten equipment life expectancy. This battery backup unit provides sufficient emergency runtime power to allow for safe closure of open files and proper shut down of electronics when an outage occurs. In addition, it safeguards electronics from commonly occurring power surges caused by storms, activity on the power grid or high-powered equipment turning on and off. Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) stabilizes incoming voltage, preventing chronic problems caused by minor but frequent power fluctuations. Computers and other devices using high-efficiency Active Power Factor Correction (APFC) power supplies require pure sine wave AC power (as supplied by utilities) for trouble-free operation. This PFC Sinewave battery backup ensures equipment using APFC power supplies will not unexpectedly shutdown or experience harmful stress when switching from AC power to battery power.

Typical Use

Provides pure sine wave backup power and surge protection for individual work areas, home networking hardware and devices, entertainment electronics and equipment requiring Active PFC power source compatibility. Safeguards valuable documents, photos, videos and music files from loss or damage due to power fluctuations and surges as well as uncontrolled equipment shutdown caused by power interruptions.

Pure Sine Wave Output — Provides power protection to ENERGY STAR 5.0 devices with Active PFC power supplies and non-APFC power supplies.

Surge Protection — Prevents damage to equipment from surges and spikes, including lightning, and also safeguards telephone and fax equipment, cable modems and routers from power surges traveling through unprotected phone or data lines (RG6/RJ11/RJ45). The amount of energy a surge protector can absorb is measured in joules. A higher joule rating means more protection.

Ultra-Quiet Operation — Eliminates distracting fan noise normally emitted by battery backup units.

ENERGY STAR Qualified — Recognized by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as one of the most energy efficient battery backup units available.

Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) — Corrects minor power fluctuations, including under-voltages, without switching to the battery, thereby extending battery life - essential in areas where power fluctuations occur frequently.

Multifunction LCD Panel — Displays battery backup vitals for easy monitoring of run-time and power conditions.

Additional Features

Energy-Saving Technology — GreenPower UPS Bypass Design saves energy costs by reducing power consumption and heat buildup.

Computer Monitoring — PowerPanel Personal Edition management software allows for controlling and monitoring the battery backup to safeguard open files and connected equipment during an outage.

USB & Serial Communication Ports — Allows communication between the battery backup unit and the PowerPanel software installed on the connected computer to enable power management and auto shutdown functionality.

USB 2.0 Charging Ports — Enable charging of smartphones, MP3 players, cameras and other devices using 2 ports (5V/1A) conveniently located on the front of the unit.

Noise Filtering — Advanced EMFI/RFI noise filtering coils reduce electromagnetic and radio frequency interference that cause disruptive humming and static.

Wide-Spaced Outlets — Large transformer block-style plugs can be connected without obstructing other outlets.

Building Wiring Fault Indicator — LED status light on battery backup unit indicates wall outlet wiring problems, such as improper grounding, that could inhibit surge protection or cause shocks. When lit, a professional electrician should be contacted to correct the problem.

Audible Alarms — Distinctive tones sound when the backup unit is on battery power, overloaded or low on power. The alarm can be silenced if desired.

Free PowerPanel Personal Edition Management Software

PowerPanel PE is included with this battery backup unit and is easily downloaded and installed on any computer. Its diagnostic screens facilitate complete control of the battery backup unit's capabilities.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Pretty compact, looks good, easy to use. Had one low-mid and one mid-low range gaming computers idling on it at the same time, unplugged it from the wall and the charge lasted a good 25 minutes or so. More than ample time, then again I did get a unit with well above the maximum expected draw to avoid the drastic reduction in efficiency/battery time from max load.

My (relatively) modern active PFC power supply seems to deal just fine with whatever sine wave this unit is putting out. No buzzing noise. Monitor stayed powered with no flickering when I unplugged the UPS from the wall.

Far, far, far less expensive than APC.

Cons: None so far, though I haven't used the software and it hasn't had to contend much with flickering or brownouts yet.

Other Thoughts: One of those products where only time will tell, but so far, so good.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat so far...

Pros: Smaller than I thought it would be. Provides clean electricity. Works when the power flickers. It also has a lot of power. Excellent monitoring software, although I will not use it always. My system specs - it is slightly overclocked:

• (2 GPU's in Crossfire configuration) XFX HD-577X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

•Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Also toss in a SSD, speakers (50 watts), a webcam, a 60 watt CFL equivalent desk light, a phone, wireless mouse, wired usb keyboard, USB wireless AC adapter, etc.

Under full load (encoding a movie for instance at 250 frames per second) the monitor shows around 370-390 watts, or about 15 minutes on battery. More than I would ever need.

Cons: I really have no cons so far.

Other Thoughts: If you have a highly overclocked CPU and three GPU's overclocked as well, and a lot of peripherals, I could see how a top of the line gaming system could push this to the limit while gaming. But this is as much power as any home office or even most gaming systems would need.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic UPS

Pros: I love this thing. It works. Plain and simple. The digital display is great and very accurate with current power usage.

Cons: Doesn't go on sale very often, but the price is still good. It would be nice if it had two or more USB connections so it could be hooked to multiple machines and have them power down automatically. I don't know if there are any UPS's that have this though.

5 out of 5 eggsrock solid

Pros: i got two of these to replace a dead apc unit. they have been working flawlessly in an nyc apartment with chronically unreliable power.

Cons: none so far.

Other Thoughts: suckers don't want to spend a bit to protect their rigs. don't be a sucker.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: It works just fine with my active PFC power supply, which is an older Ultra X3 1000watt. I just pulled the plug from the wall to test, the thing switched over just fine, and I'm currently writing this on battery.

What can I say? Its hard to get too excited over a UPS.

Cons: Not free? Maybe later of the battery takes a dive before its time, but not atm.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect!

Pros: Active PFC, which is not so easy to find in UPS products. This is critical, since so many newer PSU's are active PFC. The power provided is pure, and this thing instantly kicks in if there is a dip in power or a brownout. Haven't had to use it in sudden power loass yet, but the software gives a good estimate of how long you can keep running to shut down properly should the power go out. Seperate plugs on the built-in surge protector as well, for items you don't need to stay running but still want surge protection for, and a row for items that need UPS. Readout on the front can be set to always show you how many watts your system is pulling. The software also has this feature.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Well worth the cost. Everyone should have one of these if they want to preserve their PC equipment. I have two: one for my gaming rig, and one for my server.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent - but be careful if you run multiple GPUs

Pros: Excellent build quality. The LCD screen is great. The included software is very good.

Cons: My system has a 1500 watt power supply and 3 Nvidia GPUs. When I do anything that taxes the graphics cards, the UPS can't handle the load and sets off an alarm.

So although it's listed as a 1500 watt UPS, it can't handle more than 900. If you have a 1000+ watt power supply, you need to buy a more substantial UPS than this.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your review on the CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD. All UPS manufacturers list their UPS models in VA (voltage amps) and Watts - VA is a measure of power supplied, Watt is a measure of power consumed. The Watt rating will always be lower than the VA rating. As UPS manufacturers market their UPS models based on the VA rating you should look closely at the Watt rating of your prospective purchase. For example, the CP15000PFCLCD is 1500 VA and 900 Watts. The CyberPower web site ( has a UPS selector tool that will help to guide you to a selection of UPS models that will fit your needs based on the specifications you input - such as wattage.

If you are not sure of what CyberPower product will work best for your needs, the CyberPower Tech Support Team can help guide you in the right direction. CyberPower Tech Support can be reached at 877-297-6937 M-F 8-5 CST, or

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than I thought

Pros: I bought this hoping to hook up a couple workstations, but its able to handle the workstations and monitors at half load. It runs quiet.

Cons: Alarm is loud, which is probably a pro for most people.

4 out of 5 eggsGood UPS

Pros: Mac/Win/Lin
High capacity
can turn off alarm from front

Cons: news one is over-sensitive
has no USB charging ports

Other Thoughts: I have 2 of these, one for my 650watt Ubuntu computer and a newer on for a 850watt OSX/Win8.1/Fedora system I bought them from another retailer; the both run great with Mac/Win/Lin, although the newer one has an odd front panel (one button), is a bit over sensitive & has no front USB charging ports

5 out of 5 eggsExceeded expectations

Pros: Great performance, sleek, professional

Cons: none that I can see

Other Thoughts: Just upgraded my PC and purchased this UPS for protection of power dips we experience in my area. I went with the 1500w after reading that UPS backup power is exponentially reduced the closer you run them to the MAXIMUM output. I'm getting 70 minutes of back up time with this unit, probably could have stepped down to the 1350w.

EVGA gtx 770
Corsair TX650w
Samsung EVO 120GB ssd
