5 out of 5 eggsWork Horse

This review is from: CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD - PFC Sinewave UPS Systems – Pure Sine Wave | 100% Active PFC compatible

Pros: I bought this unit last spring and I'm very pleased. Through several electrical storms (that caused intermittent power loss) this summer, and one all day power outage this fall, the CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD has been perfect. It has surpassed my expectations in every way. I do a lot of trading in the OTC markets and I need to know that my rig is going to stay up and running. In my honest opinion, is performs better than its rated numbers.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

This review is from: CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD - PFC Sinewave UPS Systems – Pure Sine Wave | 100% Active PFC compatible

Pros: It has saved me a few times already with power outages and brown outs. Overall I'm very pleased with this.

Cons: Well its a con but not really as the unit can only run for so long during a power outage and of course its based on how many things you have plugged in. Wish it would store even more but I know that's on me wanting to be cheap.

Other Thoughts: As I keep adding more to the unit I will probably need another to soon to keep up with the power demands.

2 out of 5 eggsnot as perfect as reviews make you think

This review is from: CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD - PFC Sinewave UPS Systems – Pure Sine Wave | 100% Active PFC compatible

Pros: in a week two second long outages has been dealth with it. that's why it got more than one egg.

Cons: none of the supposedly included stuff was in the box:
(1) User manual, (1) USB A+B type cable, (1) Telephone cable, (1) Coaxial cable, (1) Warranty registration card, (1) Function Setup Guide, and (1) PowerPanel Personal Edition software CD

on top of that, the device shows 0 watt power usage for my Z97/i7-4790K PC when the screen is off and 27W when the screen is connected.

and, like other reviewers have stated, this came in the original manufacturer box and NOT inside a shipping box.

5 out of 5 eggsSlick, Easy to Setup, and Solid Protection

This review is from: CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD - PFC Sinewave UPS Systems – Pure Sine Wave | 100% Active PFC compatible

Pros: I cannot believe how quickly I had this unit up and running. No fuss whatsoever. Plugged everything, popped in the setup CD, and in literally 30 minutes, I had everything running and tested all features.

I have my UPS hidden behind my desk, so the LCD is virtually useless to me, but the PowerPanel software has everything you need at your fingertips to configure the UPS and to monitor all system parameters...in a very pleasing layout. I especially enjoy taking a peek at how much power my system is drawing at different usage intensities.

I also liked being able to disable all audible alarms- do your thing and let me sleep!

Oh yes, it works. Not only did I of course test the battery/inverter by flipping a breaker, when I restored the breaker, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the UPS had detected a high voltage for 4 seconds at the time the breaker was turned back on (inrush current) and switched to the battery/AVR mode to purify it. No more voltage spikes when power goes out and comes back on. Joy!

Cons: The AC cord is 5 ft., but 8 ft. would have been nicer...I'm reaching for a con here, forgive me- not even a hairline crack in the 5th egg.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD - PFC Sinewave UPS Systems – Pure Sine Wave | 100% Active PFC compatible

Pros: Does what it says it does.

Cons: Smells sulfuric during the first week or so. Highly recommend breaking it in somewhere ventilated, or a garage.

Other Thoughts: I bought a pair of these more than a year ago, have worked flawlessly ever since. The event logs display ~300, that's an average brownout (or worse) every 1-2 days. These units are the only things keeping me sane.

I live in Michigan, and the utility service here (DTE) is terrible (emphasis).

One unit has a 30" monitor, computer, AVR, and 12" sub hooked up to it (ouput varies between 180w-500w), battery life is 45min at idle and about 15min at load.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent UPS

This review is from: CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD - PFC Sinewave UPS Systems – Pure Sine Wave | 100% Active PFC compatible

Pros: The CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD is an excellent uninterruptible power supply. I am using these units to protect my PC, server, and home theater. Pure sine wave output, voltage regulation, and the ability to safely power down equipment. The info on the LCD display is extremely useful. Well designed and built UPS, I highly recommend this product to others that wish to protect their equipment.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I thought that the audio from my AVR improved after installing this UPS.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

This review is from: CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD - PFC Sinewave UPS Systems – Pure Sine Wave | 100% Active PFC compatible

Pros: Pretty compact, looks good, easy to use. Had one low-mid and one mid-low range gaming computers idling on it at the same time, unplugged it from the wall and the charge lasted a good 25 minutes or so. More than ample time, then again I did get a unit with well above the maximum expected draw to avoid the drastic reduction in efficiency/battery time from max load.

My (relatively) modern active PFC power supply seems to deal just fine with whatever sine wave this unit is putting out. No buzzing noise. Monitor stayed powered with no flickering when I unplugged the UPS from the wall.

Far, far, far less expensive than APC.

Cons: None so far, though I haven't used the software and it hasn't had to contend much with flickering or brownouts yet.

Other Thoughts: One of those products where only time will tell, but so far, so good.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat so far...

This review is from: CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD - PFC Sinewave UPS Systems – Pure Sine Wave | 100% Active PFC compatible

Pros: Smaller than I thought it would be. Provides clean electricity. Works when the power flickers. It also has a lot of power. Excellent monitoring software, although I will not use it always. My system specs - it is slightly overclocked:

• (2 GPU's in Crossfire configuration) XFX HD-577X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
•Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition Gulftown 3.33GHz LGA 1366 130W Six-Core Desktop Processor BX80613I7980X
•Rosewill BRONZE series RBR1000-M 1000W Continuous@40°C, 80Plus Bronze Certified,Modular Cable Design,Active PFC"Compatible with Core i7, i5" Power Supply
•ASUS P6X58D-E LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
•COOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN1-GP Black Steel + Plastic and Mesh Bezel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
•ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner - Bulk - OEM
•Kingston HyperX T1 Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) XMP Tall HS Desktop Memory Model KHX1600C9D3T1K3/6GX
•Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Also toss in a SSD, speakers (50 watts), a webcam, a 60 watt CFL equivalent desk light, a phone, wireless mouse, wired usb keyboard, USB wireless AC adapter, etc.

Under full load (encoding a movie for instance at 250 frames per second) the monitor shows around 370-390 watts, or about 15 minutes on battery. More than I would ever need.

Cons: I really have no cons so far.

Other Thoughts: If you have a highly overclocked CPU and three GPU's overclocked as well, and a lot of peripherals, I could see how a top of the line gaming system could push this to the limit while gaming. But this is as much power as any home office or even most gaming systems would need.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic UPS

This review is from: CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD - PFC Sinewave UPS Systems – Pure Sine Wave | 100% Active PFC compatible

Pros: I love this thing. It works. Plain and simple. The digital display is great and very accurate with current power usage.

Cons: Doesn't go on sale very often, but the price is still good. It would be nice if it had two or more USB connections so it could be hooked to multiple machines and have them power down automatically. I don't know if there are any UPS's that have this though.

This review is from: CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD - PFC Sinewave UPS Systems – Pure Sine Wave | 100% Active PFC compatible

Pros: i got two of these to replace a dead apc unit. they have been working flawlessly in an nyc apartment with chronically unreliable power.

Cons: none so far.

Other Thoughts: suckers don't want to spend a bit to protect their rigs. don't be a sucker.
