The Powercom KING RM KIN-1500APRM is a microprocessor controlled line-interactive rack-mountable UPS designed to provide high-performance power protection for mission critical environment equipment like file servers, internet servers, network back-up drives, hubs, and telecommunication systems.

Under normal conditions, the line-interactive circuit adjusts and filters power fluctuations continuously and automatically, ensuring that all connected devices are operating with constancy and stability. In the event of power failure, the UPS seamlessly transfers to battery power without any interruption. The maintenance-free sealed Lead-Acid battery lets the UPS run for 70-80 minutes, so you have time to close files and protect your data. It also protects your data lines against surges, spikes, lightning, and other power disturbances.

The included UPSMON power management software automatically saves and closes open files and shutdowns the PC in an intelligent and orderly fashion, with audible and visible alarms. It also tests all internal components, including the battery, so your UPS is always ready when you need it. The front control panel offers an easy-to-read LED display that shows all the information you have to know about the UPS' status. Count on the KIN-1500APRM and Powercom to keep your valuable equipment and data safe!

5 out of 5 eggsSolid, gigantic UPS

Pros: - NUT can talk to it
- Solid construction
- Seems to run for a long time*

* Running a quad core Xeon, Avoton C2350, 15+ HDDs and other peripheral gear

Cons: - Little info available?

Other Thoughts: Seems like a great rackmount UPS. Haven't put it through its paces really. It used to live in my bedroom - in terms of loudness, I don't think this guy contributed much to the din of the little stack of rackmount gear I was running, but I'm telling you right now that you don't want to keep rackmount stuff in your bedroom.

Recently I got an actual rack to put everything in - the ~15U Norco one, haven't tried to use any rails but it seems great. If I lost everything in a fire today I'd get another of these Powercoms in a heatbeat. After the new clothes and pets and all that.

There was one time when we lost power in the middle of the night and the Powercom started screeching, I ran up like a crazy person and told ZFS to die and go to hell and switched off the power to the Powercom, and everything lost power and the din stopped. All files were fine, I learned to separate datacenter from bedroom, YMMV :)

When I was finally racking all the rackmount stuff, at one point I unplugged the entire rack and carted it around for fun, with the servers still running, just off the Powercom power. All was good, for 15 minutes or so before I plugged it all back in.

I'm no datacenter pro and I have nothig objective for you, but this unit seems solid.

5 out of 5 eggsKnow your outputs...

Comments: I bought the unit and found out that it only gives 120 volts. Turns out the 220 volts models is different, so double check what you need!
Other than that, the king ups is a good deal for the backup power and I highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 eggsThis UPS Rock

Comments: I got that UPS for olmost a year now, with my 24 ports switch, cable modem, firewall, server (Bi 2.4Mhz MP AMD), 17" monitor. And it hold the power for more than 35 min with a backup of my 35GO data before the system shutdown.
I think it's a great stuff for the price in rack mount
