The Powercom SMART KING SMK-2000A is a microprocessor controlled line-interactive UPS designed to provide high-performance power protection for mission critical environment equipment such as file servers, internet servers, network back-up drives, hubs, and telecommunication systems.

Under normal conditions, the line-interactive circuit adjusts and filters power fluctuations continuously and automatically, ensuring that all connected devices are operating with constancy and stability. It also protects your data lines against surges, spikes, lightning, and other power disturbances.

The included UPSMON power management software automatically saves and closes open files and shutdowns the PC in an intelligent and orderly fashion, with audible and visual alarms. It also tests all internal components, including the battery, so your UPS is always ready when you need it. Count on the SMK-2000A and Powercom to keep your valuable equipment and data safe!

4 out of 5 eggsupdate

Pros: when it worked it worked it workes great lasted 5 years, saved my computer on many power outages, i live in country with monthly power outages and when the power goes back on bam the spike always burns something out. not with a sinewave UPS. though in the end i had to install a hole house power filter and surge protector

Cons: it went crazy at 5 years

Other Thoughts: well it lasted 5 years after i rote the review the next week it went crazy beeping all the time lights flashing. turning off or unpluging does nothing so now i going crazy from it beeping for last 24 hours. LOL i going to trash it i upgrading to CyberPower Professional PP2200SW . with a simple 20 to 15amp plug converter the PP2200SW last up to 2 hours run time on its battories. works so good i now have 3 of them, love them. plus it just seems better made but it cost more you get what you payfore. it was fun powercome time to move on bigger and better :) give me even more time to start generator :)

1 out of 5 eggsFails like bad medical insurance

Pros: - Worked well in the beginning

Cons: - Failure modes are poorly designed
- When failed, can't power on
- Constant alarm that cannot be disabled

Other Thoughts: Most people like their medical insurance when they don't need it. It's only when they do that they find out the problems with it.

I've had this UPS for four years. Yes, it was great - kept me up during power fluctuations, provided power for clean shutdown when the power went out.

However, it appears the batteries have gone (understandable after four years of use). The problem is that there was no indication of this - it sat there happily humming along with a full charge indicator. Then the power bounced, all my equipment shut off, and it started beeping. And beeping. And beeping. Front panel blank, still beeping. Couldn't disable the alarm, couldn't turn it on.

I ended up unplugging it, putting a surge suppressor in and plugging into that.

What I expect from an UPS:

- Tell me when the batteries fail
- If the batteries fail, provide power
- Allow me to disable any alarm
- Even if it's not UPSing, it should still provide power from the mains

1 out of 5 eggsFlip a coin, then pay to return it.

Pros: Bought two and one works fine.

Cons: Second came with a bent upper housing. Makes a loud chirping sound that does not go away after initial charge. Kicker is... it weighs 70 lbs. Newegg gives me a busted product I now pay $66.60 to return. NEVER AGAIN.

5 out of 5 eggsBought five, all worked

Pros: Inexpensive and work. Have a remote signal port.

Cons: Clunky size and heavy. Would have been better if they could at least sit on the bottom of a rack, or be safely stacked.

5 out of 5 eggs3+ years running strong

Pros: NOT 60 db!!!! as most others . ROCK SOLID STABILITY . will run off generator. 3+ years with out a problem . getting 15+ run time . love this UPS

Cons: wish was less expensive . free ship would be nice cause i need 4 more :)

Other Thoughts: i have power outages monthly in my cabin. i have lost allot new equipment to power spikes. i learned my lesson. i now run everything with pure sine wave and this one is by fare my favorite. its the quietest, longest run time and has lasted for 3+ years with no problems. OK the front panel does come off. in fact i have one with the panel hanging of it. for me that's nothing for what i get. silent power protection. i can !!! sleep at night. its very quit were i live and a fan running at 60bd just wont do. i took a chance with this one knowing it did not have a fan and am a happy camper . heck it even been running off the generator when i loose power and i do loose power allot some times for weeks at a time. i don't loose !! any equipment any more. even my 42" HD LCD,projection tv,TIVO,wireless, cable modem and more .everything is protected now. the first unit i purchased 3+ years ago still running and i test all my power with multimeters, no problems. thanks newegg

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful product

Pros: Durable, powers all my major electronics (62" big screen, 36" LCD monitor, very large PC, PS3, Wii, and my external hard drive) There has been alot of construction lately and the power goes out on a regular basis. No matter what happens though this UPS has taken care of everything. I always have plenty of time to finish what I'm doing, and then shut down properly. This was well worth the purchase.

Cons: Heavy, heavy, heavy! Be careful lifting this thing, it looks small, but it feels as heavy as I am. You really should feel capable of lifting more than sixty pounds. otherwise I suggest having strong friends or neighbors. ;-)

Other Thoughts: I don't mind the weight, it really is a very nice safety precaution for any major appliance. I strongly recommend this for anyone that owns a nice computer or TV. Those things are expensive to replace (especially when you know you could have avoided the tragedy).

4 out of 5 eggsA Value

Pros: Long run time, pure wave.

Cons: little loud, could use a usb update. software not real accurate.

Other Thoughts: Looked around and this was the best value for the money so I bought it with my fingers crossed. As it turns out it works great! I have 4 monitors and 2 computers hooked to it and have solved the intermittent power problems that plague my area. I have used this with a single machine for a little more than an hour. Thats a lot longer than I expected was possible. Having bought 2 of these, I don't have any regrets.

4 out of 5 eggsBeefy UPS for the money

Pros: Seemingly sturdy construction. Lives up to power & current output claims. Impressive performance during testing powering a high-watt space heater. Useful audible alarms that can be manually silenced.

Cons: * Battery level bar graph not very accurate.
* Short run time (about 8 minutes with 850 watts)
* Fan(s) are loud and will run the whole time it's charging battery, or running off battery.

Other Thoughts: Wanted to test this before hooking up four servers. Gave it a full charge, which takes about 4.75 hours. We have an electric space heater in the office break room -- selectable 700W, 800W or 1500W (either or both element selectable.) Great test load!

The load level bar graph seems accurate. Very briefly switching to 1500W (< one second) sounded overload alarm, but it did keep the power up while on battery. Good to know it has some reserve designed in!

It ran for slightly over 8 minutes with the 800W load (actually measured 845W with kill-a-watt meter.) Seems like a unit this big should have some more run time at 2/3 load.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works well so far. I like the LEDs on the faceplate.

Cons: I'm not sure if this is user error or not, but I can't get the faceplate to stay on. The plastic tabs do not lock in place as they look like they should, and it will periodically pop off.

Also, the instruction manual tried to cover directions for what looked to be every model of UPS that Powercom makes, relying on the user to pick and choose what applies to them, and still managing to leave out information.

Other Thoughts: I'm somewhat less impressed with this unit than the last Powercom UPS I bought.
