Powercom's BLACK KNIGHT PRO BNT-800AP is a microprocessor-controlled line-interactive UPS designed to provide high-performance power protection for small servers, workstations and PCs. It has four outlets, three of which are linked to the battery power, with one providing surge-only protection for less critical equipment.

Under normal conditions, the UPS' line-interactive circuit adjusts and filters power fluctuations continuously and automatically, ensuring that all connected devices are operating smoothly. In the event of power failure, the UPS seamlessly transfers to battery power without interruption. The maintenance-free sealed Lead-Acid battery lets the UPS run for 65 minutes, so you have time to close files and protect data. It also protects your data lines against surges, spikes, lightning, and other power disturbances.

The included UPSMON power management software automatically saves and closes open files and shutdowns the PC in an intelligent and orderly fashion, with audible and visual alarms. It also tests all internal components, including the battery, so your UPS is always ready when you need it. Count on the BNT-800AP and Powercom to keep your valuable equipment and data safe!

5 out of 5 eggsVery tiny but work at the perfection!

Pros: I connect the VDSL2 modem, the gigabit swich plus a wireless router into it. During the power outage, this UPS just do what is spose to do! I reccomand to all with pleasure! My grand-parents was happy to be able to use the internet even during a power outage.

Cons: Nothing.

Other Thoughts: This 800 VA UPS is smaller in size than my other 350 VA UPS. But thats don't affect anyway his performance.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy - Useless

Pros: Price (but you get what you pay for)

Cons: Simliar to other reviews here, AVR doesn't work and causes computer to reboot, after three months, the unit will determine there is something wrong with the powerline and suddenly shut off.

Other Thoughts: Save yourself $60 and a headache. Buy something else.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Have had this UPS for at least 3 years now and been very happy with it. Always works when the power goes off. Does not stay on a long time but I do not need it too. I just want to keep the computer from shutting down improperly.

Cons: none

2 out of 5 eggsNot Worth It

Pros: Provided decent backup time about 8-10 minutes on my computer.

Cons: 1. This has an AVR, automatic voltage regulation, that messes up it's ability to provide continuous backup power. About half the times I lost main power, my computer rebooted as this UPS did not supply backup power fast enough for continuous power. I noticed that when main power goes, I hear rapid clicking sounds in the UPS. My guess is that instead of immediately supplying backup power, it first tries to boost the voltage. It switches the internal relays to boost the output. When it realizes that the boost is not working, then it switches to battery power. By that time the output dips too low and my computer reboots.
2. When I upgraded my computer, the Powercom software showed I was using about 70% of maximum capacity, but when power goes, the UPS begins beeping an overload condition and computer loses power. This means that it cannot actually supply backup power according to what it was rated for. So this 800VA is probably really 500VA.

Other Thoughts: After getting really fed up with the computer rebooting, I fixed the problem by opening it up and removing the boost/buck relays and hard wiring it so the output is always in the normal position. Since then the UPS worked fine providing battery backup without my computer rebooting.

After the overload condition, I then used it on an old test computer, but one day it went dead. I am scraping it for parts since it's not worth fixing.

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: Did what I needed it for - kept my machine running across the more-than-monthly short blackouts in my neighborhood.

Cons: After one year, only had about five minutes of backup power for my rather (ok totally) anemic computer. I'm talking like 100W here. After two years, its totally useless.

Other Thoughts: Don't believe the specs listed here. This thing isn't going to give you 55 to 65 minutes of runtime, unless you're using it to power a flashlight.

That said, its pretty cheap, and if you need something to keep your machine running across power glitches and surges, this isn't a terrible solution. As long as you don't mind replacing it just a few years down the road.

1 out of 5 eggsBlack Knight 800 VA???

Pros: none

Cons: This device was to replace an APC 350 VA. The PC can run less than half as long using this device as it did on the 350VA. So there is no way it is anywhere near an 800 VA backup. Avoid this product.

Other Thoughts: A USB cable instead of the DB9 would be nice. I do not know of many PC today with that old of a connection.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: Works for 1 day at a time

Cons: After removing my computer, then my monitor , then finally my speakers found out after 1 day it looses power for everything you connect to it after about 1 day

Other Thoughts: Should have followed the advice on other reviews

1 out of 5 eggsLasted One Year then Garbage

Pros: Nice tight package - smaller than most.

Cons: Smaller because it is garbage. Lasted one year and began beeping aloud waking everyone up at night. Complete garbage. NO DEAL here. Buy a BELKIN or UPS

Other Thoughts: Waste of time and money.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality

Pros: Low Price for 800VA unit.

Cons: Low Quality. Unit lasted only about 2 years before it starting randomly beeping and shutting itself off.

Other Thoughts: I own several other UPS in the same price range that have had a much longer lifespan than this unit.
