3 out of 5 eggsReliable until it's not

Pros: Supposedly has many of the features of more expensive, name-brand line-interactive UPS. Easy to change battery. Decent price.

Cons: Batteries lasted from 1-2 years, seemingly less as time went on Only three battery-backed outlets. Customer support is lacking. Software is very dated. Low battery alarm never sounded (over five years). Unreliable after 3-4 years.

Other Thoughts: Failed after five years: Started producing false alarms after power failures (on healthy battery), refusing to turn on, eventually sounding as if it blew fuses (internal, soldered). I don't think the unit ever charges the batteries correctly (optimally, float), hence the short lifespan. Batteries (12V 9Ah) run about 30 USD, so it gets quite expensive. Other manufactures (APC, CyberPower, etc) claim 3-6 year battery life, more than OPTI-UPS' (false) 2-3 year claim.

2 out of 5 eggsworked for a while

Pros: worked well for a few years, had to replace the battery after 3 years but that is normal.

Cons: started to trip the breaker in the house and kept switching to battery power when power was ok.

Other Thoughts: i am gonna fix it myself.

5 out of 5 eggsJust replaced battery, very easy operation

Pros: Works. Just replaced the battery, extremely easy operation. Didn't even need a screwdriver.

Cons: No auto USB driver with Windows 7 x64. Only has six outlets.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: 6 outlets - 3 battery, 3 non. I haven't had a surge yet, but I did unplug it to see how it worked and it does work. Good times.

Cons: none that I can find

5 out of 5 eggsSolid UPS

Pros: All or most of the features of more expensive, name-brand line-interactive UPS's. More than enough power and backup time for most people (at 1100VA, 550W). Solid build quality. Easy to change battery. Great price. Sexy. Not too large.

Cons: OPTI-UPS seemingly attempts to prevent purchase of anything but their (overpriced) batteries, by (at least) intentionally hiding the battery specs. Only three battery-backed outlets (but three more surge-protected).

Other Thoughts: Uses common 12V 9AH batteries (6x3x4 in, F2 terminals). (I use Tempest TD9-12, which are lasting 2-3 years in a fairly hot environment.) OPTI-Safe Sentinel software works fairly well (via USB). Only 2-5% load level with average PC use (consisting of Phenom II X2 550, 8800 GTS, 21" LCD and Klipsch 2.1 speakers).

5 out of 5 eggs2.5yrs and still running great!

Pros: Have had this UPS for over 2 years, and it is still running reliably and wonderfully!

Highly recommended, very user accessible and easily swappable battery should you need it, I have not yet gladly!
Many options available from the included software, which consumes very little system resources, a large perk.

I have my PC and a 24 inch monitor, my external hdd, and a printer connected to the battery outlets (have a small power strip attached to one of the battery outlets). I like to occasionally pull the plug to make sure it is still working right, and it works fine!

Also has the option of hard starting even when not plugged in, which is invaluable. This way I can charge small things like a phone or my laptop with power left in the UPS unit after the computer has self-shut down after so long in the event of a power outage. Last power outage was for 5 days after a bad storm in Minnesota!

Cons: software could be prettier, but would be at the expense of system resources.

Other Thoughts: Reliable product! recommended.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks OK

Pros: 550 Watts for $100.00 good price , not very good service the saying you get what you pay for is oh so true.
Unit works good now it says a quality battery in it.

Cons: Service kind of sucks I had my unit about 5 month's and the cheapo battery that came in it went flat. I called OPTI-UPS service and they wanted me to ship out the UPS to them when I just needed a battery I guess there hard up and could not send me one so being the Generous guy I am

Other Thoughts: I purchased a replacment battery locally for $30 bucks rather then send my UPS out to cailfornia where these clowns are and it woorks great once again nice UPS just crappo service from OPTI-UPS save the hassle buy an APC unit

5 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: Bought 5 of them for the office, all worked well, and continue to work well over a year later. Each unit has one or two computers connected to it. Our brownout and short power outage problems are a thing of the past.

Cons: Monitoring software could be better.

Other Thoughts: This product performs well for one computer and one or two LCD monitor(s).

2 out of 5 eggsFair Product Awful Warranty Service

Pros: Purchased 15 of these. Charged them up and put them in and they work well for a while anyway. Two died within 2 months the rest are beginning to have battery failure at 2 yrs. Have 3 year warranty, even on the battery, which is good but the company OPTI-UPS is bad about warranty service, and even worse about customer service and honesty.

Cons: When you read carfully on the company website it says the battery may only last 2 years. Have sent 4 back for warranty in the last 2 yrs. 2 were nearly new and were finally repaired after 30+ days. OPTI-UPS said then that they had had a bad run of boards and batterys, sure made me wonder when the other 13 I had were going to start to fail. Have sent in 2 more recently for repair under warranty in the original shipping carton with the original internal clamshells and each of them have supposedly had freight damage so bad that the battery was either physically broken or the battery has came through the side of the case, that is according to the pictures OPTI-UPS has sent me anyway. They are also careful to send pictures of the shipping box etc. and it mysteriously shows no damage. Of course they will not warranty the item if there is shipping damage and when the shipping box and material is not damaged you cannot get a claim with a shipper either. So you are stuck

Other Thoughts: If you buy OPTI-UPS products the warranty is not worth the paper it's written on, unless you like frustration and headaches. If I even try to ship another one for warranty .... I definately will not buy anymore... I will ship them to be signed for and inspected in front of the courier so they cannot slam it on the workbench or floor until it physically is broken so badly that they will not warranty it.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Battery Solution

Pros: Easy to setup, NEW software version for Vista and XP. Does exactly what it is suppose to do: Shut down the computer in an orderly way without CRASHING.

Cons: Heavy, but that means there is plenty of power available to use.

Other Thoughts: I have used a few brands of UPS, Tripplite, APC, Centurion, and opti-ups. Without a doubt, Opti-UPS is the best designed and longest lasting setup available.
