1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Cons: After a couple of years, the unit is unreliable. Power cycling the output even when there have been no power failures. Software says battery is low even when plugged into working AC. Note: It is NOT saying the batter is OLD or WORN; it's saying the battery is LOW. When charging.

Other Thoughts: This is the second Tripp Light UPS I've had fail on me. Done with this brand.

5 out of 5 eggs great product - incredible value

Pros: Hugely impressed by this unit. Easy to set up. Well spaced outlets. Surge-only is on dongles so back isn't cluttered.

Cons: None yet (1 week)

Other Thoughts: Incredible value. It just plain works! Will start buying this brand.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: It's been working as advertised for over a year now. And with the frequency with which the power surges or sags around here, it gets exercised quite a bit. Sockets on short cables are great for connecting power bricks.

Cons: Could maybe use a few more outlets. There are several components that do not use much juice which would be nice to plug in, just for protection:

Computer, 2 monitors, printer, mouse charger, powered speakers, USB hub, external HD, camcoder charger, DSL modem, ethernet switch. It adds up quickly to more outlets than available.

Other Thoughts: I bought 3 of these for different rooms after getting tired of having various electronic components fry (even with a surge protector) during several storms. Since then no more broken electronics.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat UPS

Pros: I have had this thing for over 3 years now and never had any issues with it. Gets tested once a month and always passes.
As others have said, it has a standard USB connector.

Cons: None...

1 out of 5 eggsWarning

Pros: I don't know of any. I haven't even turned it on. It was dead on arrival.

Cons: This arrived with my new motherboard as I had a power surge that killed my old UPS and mobo. When I opened the box I heard a fairly heavy rattle inside the unit. I turned it several ways looking for an easy way to open it and found none. The box clearly said to call TrippLite if there was a problem and not to return it to the store. I called TrippLite and told them about it. I was reluctant to trust my new computer to a UPS with a loud rattle so they overnighted me a shipping label and picked up the UPS the next day. Well, that was about 12 days ago. I called them yesterday and they had some excuse about miss-communication at their end and they would ship a new unit out immediately. Today I come home and fire up the unprotected computer (like I am now) and found an email saying I would get my UPS in 7 to 10 working days. This is nuts - I will have gone over 3 weeks without a product I paid for - and not running my computer but for email and this posting.

Other Thoughts: I am very upset at them as you can imagine. I told them I was going to post this. It will be my last TrippLite product. Next time, I will deal directly with Newegg if something is wrong. I wanted to save my favorite online store the expense and put it on the manufacturer where it belonged. Lesson learned, I guess. Go with Newegg, you cannot go wrong. I would imagine after TrippLite sees this my UPS will somehow get "lost". Oh well. I will wait my 10 days then contact Newegg and let them deal with it, while I order an APC unit. Am I upset? Hell yea! This is just wrong. I have a small business; they are global. I sure don't run my business like that.

5 out of 5 eggsSolved Problem with Home Entertainment System

Pros: Plug it in, plug everything else in, and you're done.
No computer required to monitor or control this unit.
The price is right.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Our new HDTV is hooked to a cable box, DVD player, and stereo amplifier. Construction in our area meant that occasional slight power glitches caused resets and shutdowns of the TV and sometimes other things, and my wife needed me to straighten it out. This battery backup solved the problem.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product from a great company

Pros: Made by Tripp-lite -- the same company that makes the "Iso-bar" surge protector used for medical equipment in hospitals. Plenty of power headroom, and 6 battery/2 surge-only, as opposed to only half-and-half from other companies. The 2 surge-only outlets are also on dongles, so gi-normous wallwarts are no problem. Also, uses standard A-to-B USB cable (included), as opposed to a certain other company's bizarre and hard-to-replace RJ-45 to USB-A cable. Good noise filtration / isolation. Auto-voltage regulation corrects medium voltage fluctuations without using the battery, thus extending its life. USB-HID compliant, so it works right away with Windows own UPS service, without need to install Tripp-lite's own software (which, by the way, is a free download from their website).

Tripp-lite's program also goes really in-depth into the exact status of the UPS -- battery life status, power-on duration, and such.

Cons: This may just be a quirk specific to my own system, but when I switch the USB cable to a different port -- still on the back of the motherboard -- the Tripp-lite program can't find the UPS again. The program is also Java-based, so it's not quite as snappy as some others.

Other Thoughts: A great UPS that often out-specs and out-performs the competition, from a very reputable company, and can often be found for significantly less that other similar products. Wish I'd gotten mine at newegg. (But I also wish they had it on sale for the price I paid for it. ;)
