5 out of 5 eggsTripLite is simply the Best UPS

Pros: I fully trust my system to their UPS, which directly routes to my TripLite surge protector, from which all my sensitive equipment is powered.

Cons: I've never had a problem with any TripLite product I've used.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Tripp Lite quality but...

Pros: Small size and reliable.

Cons: USB connection causes PC to hang on start-up only after a manual shut down. Soft reboot works fine. The computer will stall at the Windows 7 splash screen until reset. Usually boots fine after first reset. Sometimes takes two resets. Will boot fine every time if Tripp Lite USB cable is not plugged in.

Other Thoughts: This is a one year old PC with Intel board DH67GD, Sandy Bridge i3, 4GB Crucial Ballistix RAM, two 500GB Western Digital mirrored drives, Pioneer Blu-ray burner and Corsair CX430 V2 PSU. I make a point to buy high end components in an effort to avoid problems like this. This is not a software issue. I did a clean install of Windows 7 Home Prem thinking it was software related.

1 out of 5 eggstotal JUNK!

Pros: From the moment I plugged it in, I knew I was in for trouble, it kept beeping, because it detected an overload. I know the electricity in my building is junk, but this is a battery back-up. It's not supposed to do this out of the box. Power lasts virtually 1 second after an outage and it's done. Total Junk!!!

Cons: Too small to be of any use.

Other Thoughts: I want to smash this thing into a million pieces!!!

5 out of 5 eggsAn 'Indirect' Performance Boost!

Pros: Was happy to find an inexpensive unit with 'shutdown' capability from a well-known company. Wanted to try Vista's higher-performance disk settings, and had read that a UPS is more or less a necessity when doing so.

Cons: Haven't been able to access the software, but don't really need it since default settings work perfectly for my needs.

Other Thoughts: Not only did the 'unattended shutdown' function work flawlessly, but in the month I've had the unit it switched to battery power for very short periods of time on two or three occasions. I'm assuming that it's responding to temporary voltage fluctuations or something similar. Definitely prefer the UPS dealing with that than the computer. Overall very pleased!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat unit, dont what what this guys talking about

Pros: Great price, Doesnt hold charge for more than 10 minutes but thats more than enough time to have software shut system down.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Software does what its supposed to do, detect battery power and shut system down accordingly. I cant figure out why the guy below had so many problems, maybe he needs to take a course in how to plug things in.

2 out of 5 eggsMore garbage

Pros: Having the battery already connected upon opening the box.

Cons: Installing software nightmare. No instructions. Unit not detected by XP. Two different versions of Power software on CD, no explanation of why. Website no help either. 'Drivers' classified by product family, nowhere on the box is a descriptive name, just model #. 'Drivers' seem to be proprietary for the Power software. Installed 2 different versions and neither could detect it's own companie's UPS. Basically a boat anchor from China

Other Thoughts: Pay less, expect less.

1 out of 5 eggsChina strikes again

Pros: None

Cons: Made in China

Other Thoughts: I wish retailers would start putting where products are made on their websites
