PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Power problems—including blackouts, brownouts, power surges and line noise—threaten your investment! They can damage or destroy PCs and other expensive equipment, wipe out valuable data and files, and degrade component performance. Get protected against these all-too-common power threats with Tripp Lite's SMART1200LCD Digital UPS System. It provides reliable battery backup that can keep entry-level PC systems operational for up to 70 minutes during blackouts. Advanced automatic voltage regulation (AVR) corrects brownouts and overvoltages back to safe 120V power without draining the UPS battery. Surge suppression and EMI/RFI line noise filtering prevent hardware damage and performance problems such as poor-quality audio and video output. A large illuminated LCD screen with dimmer switch shows incoming power conditions and UPS operations in real time. Plus, the SMART1200LCD comes with $250,000 Ultimate Lifetime Insurance coverage for connected equipment and a 3-year warranty.

Ideal for Protection for Home or Office PCs and Home Theaters

Ideal for Protection for Home or Office PCs and Home Theaters

Featuring reliable battery backup, automatic voltage regulation, surge suppression, line noise filtering, USB and DB9 communication ports, eight AC outlets with a unique outlet design that accommodates two large transformers without blocking other outlets plus tel/DSL/Ethernet and coaxial line surge protection, the SMART1200LCD offers a complete power protection solution for PCs, A/V components and all home and office electronics.

Reliable Battery Backup

UPS battery backup support enables you to work through short power failures, and provides time to save files and perform an orderly system shutdown in case of a prolonged blackout. The SMART1200LCD features a large internal battery that provides 4 min. of battery support for a full load (700 watts), 12 min. for a half-load (350 watts) or 70 min. for a single PC. During normal operation, incoming utility power keeps the UPS battery fully charged so that backup power will always be available if needed.

SMART1200LCD Feature Focus
EMI/RFI Line Noise Filtering
Secure Every Connection

Advanced Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR)

Advanced AVR protects your equipment from incremental hardware damage, data loss and performance problems that can be caused by low-voltage conditions (brownouts) and overvoltages. The SMART1200LCD automatically corrects brownouts as low as 75V and overvoltages as high as 147V back to 120V without drawing on battery backup power that may be needed to support your equipment during a blackout.

Rotatable LCD Status Screen

The SMART1200LCD features a large illuminated LCD screen with dimmer switch that alerts you to potential power problems. This screen shows input voltage, 5-bar battery charge level, overload, AVR, on battery and replace battery status at a glance. It can be rotated for easy viewing in both horizontal and vertical UPS installations.

AC Line and Tel/Ethernet Surge Suppression

A sudden power surge or spike on an AC, phone or network line can damage or destroy electronic components and wipe out irreplaceable data. The SMART1200LCD features a 480-joule surge suppression rating to protect connected components and data from the harmful effects of power surges. One set of tel/Ethernet (RJ45) jacks provides surge protection for a standard phone, DSL or network connection.

EMI/RFI Line Noise Filtering

Various electrical and radio sources can cause disruptive interference on the AC line. This line noise is a common cause of incremental hardware damage, data corruption and audio/video performance problems. The SMART1200LCD incorporates technology that filters out disruptive line noise, preventing it from affecting your equipment.

Communication Ports and Free PowerAlert Software

The SMART1200LCD features an HID-compliant USB port and a DB9 serial port (cables included). Used with Tripp Lite's free PowerAlert software (available from Tripp Lite as a Web download), these ports enable safe unattended system shutdown and file saves in the event of a prolonged power failure. The USB port also enables integration with built-in power management and auto shutdown features of Windows® and Mac OS® X.

Versatile Installation Options

The SMART1200LCD is easily adaptable to vertical (tower) or horizontal installations. Its 6-ft. power cord features a space-saving right-angle plug that allows furniture to be placed flush against the wall. Included removable mounting ears are provided to facilitate 2U rackmount installation in standard 2- or 4-post racks.

Environmentally Responsible

The SMART1200LCD's efficient design conserves electricity, saves money and reduces CO2 emissions. This UPS system is manufactured in compliance with strict RoHS guidelines to minimize the use of hazardous materials, and its replaceable internal battery is 100% recyclable.

Ultimate Peace of Mind

The SMART1200LCD comes with $250,000 Ultimate Lifetime Insurance coverage for connected equipment insurance (USA/Canada only) and a 3-year product warranty.

1 out of 5 eggsLasted 1 year

Pros: Cheaper than most UPS brands that size and rackmount

Cons: Lasted only 1 year

Other Thoughts: I read a lot of reviews about how it didn't last very long, but I took the risk anyway because the price is right. I wish I would have spent the extra money up front, because now I'm out $200 from the original purchase + the $ for a new one. Not to mention the pain of unracking and reracking a new one and the issues it caused with my home media closet when it went down.

Manufacturer Response:

Jamie, I apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with your SMART1200LCD. Please reach out to our Chicago-based Tech Support team at (773)869-1234 so they can walk you through some troubleshooting steps and/or send you a replacement unit since the SMART1200LCD comes with a 3-year warranty.

1 out of 5 eggsSmells Odd...

Pros: Works, Runs 850w Workstation with 4 Drive Raid 5, GTX 480 etc.

Cons: Seems to be putting off a nasty smell, I live in a smaller apartment, so I am thinking it could be toxic. When I come home from work the entire place stinks like medical equipment or something...

Other Thoughts: Probably gunna get rid of it...

4 out of 5 eggsPlenty of power, short battery life

Pros: Powered a computer with 750W power supply, two 21" monitors and several peripherals in a region of Oklahoma where power-surges and outages are a very common occurance.

Cons: After 2 years and 3 months the thing died on me. However it has a 3-yr warranty. You can't imagine my surprise when I called Tripplite support and after taking down my information for my claim they just said "Ok we will send you a new one, and you don't even have to bother sending the old one back" WOW!

Other Thoughts: Great customer service. I would have dinged it another star if they hadn't been so quick to replace my unit.

4 out of 5 eggsGood product. Good timing.

Pros: The device handles all of my components comfortably. One week after I purchased this UPS the power in my home went out. The box sounded an alarm and I was able to walk upstairs and safely shut down my machine without any harm to the devices.

Cons: It is heavy.

Other Thoughts: It is pricey for only eight outlets, but having had one computer fried while plugged into a lesser surge protector I would not settle when shopping for a UPS. Tripp Lite did the trick for me.

2 out of 5 eggsOK for the price

Pros: Relatively small size (for a UPS) for the capacity. Works well when new-ish. And, it's trivial for the purpose, but the blue LED display is cool, I have to admit. It's relatively inexpensive, rackmountable, but I wouldn't trust anything critical to one of these units (see "cons").

Cons: At end of battery life, you get no warnings; just intermittent, random, but increasing failures. Happened with two of these units. Self-test may report OK, so: not very reliable after a year or two.

Other Thoughts: Ignoring the sticker on the box and trying some replament batteries inside; maybe I can get some more use on secondary machine.

5 out of 5 eggsThis thing ROCKS

Pros: Solid piece of equipment. This thing has been through some serious storms, lighten strikes, brown-outs, and black outs. It takes a licking and keeps on ticking! I have had it for over 4 years and I love it. Tripp Lite is the bomb.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Buy this it is worth every penny and has saved my very expensive system many times over. 5 STARS. :D

3 out of 5 eggsonly lasted two years

Pros: Worked nicely for two years. Cool blue LCD display can be rotated. Ran all I care to power.

Cons: Died after two years. Melted battery and escaped battery liquid. Maybe I didn't leave enough space for ventilation when I put it behind the desk. Somebody on the net seemed to think it was a design flaw though. Replacing batteries resulted in a nasty arc, confirming that the batteries were not the only thing that died.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for my home theater!

Pros: Has enough plugs for everything on my TV stand. Currently provides at least 15 minutes of backup for a 50" DLP and associated components. More than enough time to power down the TV during a power outage so that the fan can cool the LED's.

I bought this particular unit because it does pure sinewave vs. the square wave that most other units put out the square wave is fine for a PC, but not a TV.

The adjustable brightness control is nice!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The first unit would not charge the battery. Not Newegg's fault! E-mailed Tripp Lite tech support and they sent me a new unit and did not want the old one back so I saved on return shipping.
