1 out of 5 eggsWorst Piece of Junk I've ever owned.

Pros: Makes a nice paperweight now.

Cons: I owned this thing for about six months with little trouble. There wasn't ever a power outage that involved my immediate attention so I really can't say whether it even worked right out of the box. After about four months time we had a storm and the power went out.. so did my computer. After unplugging the computer from it and removing it from the wall the backup snapped loudly and internally caught fire, filling my room with the stench of burnt plastic. I contacted Tripp-Light and was told the average output of a standard desktop computer is too much for it to handle. Because of this it's not covered under warranty. How or why it caught fire AFTER being unplugged from the computer and the wall was never addressed and was brushed aside.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't recommend this at ALL if you're hoping it will keep an average desktop computer running. I'm hard pressed to even recommend it to handle the most basic of electronics. How or why New Egg still sells this piece of junk to us tech geeks I don't know. I shudder to imagine if I'd attempted to keep my scanner and printer on it as well. I made the mistake of buying this thing hoping it would do its job not realizing Tripp-Lite continues to make a battery backup that's TOO far underpowered and overpriced to handle even a toaster. I should have stuck with my gut and gone with an APC backup which are MADE to handle computers at their basic settings.

3 out of 5 eggsThe New Model

Pros: Great for keeping single PC's or Switch/Router rooms up and safe from surges and power outages.

Cons: This is the new model with many changes from the old one. The first one I got was bad. Kept shutting off after a few seconds. I found out the 12V Battery was only putting out 7V. RMAed and got a new one.

Other Thoughts: The others I got are working so far.
