PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Requiring only two rack spaces (2U) in a standard rack enclosure, Tripp Lite's SMART3000RM2U SmartPro® UPS System protects connected equipment against data loss, downtime and equipment damage due to power outages, voltage fluctuations and transient surges. Featuring advanced automatic voltage regulation, it provides regulated 120V nominal output without using battery power during brownouts and overvoltages. Large internal batteries support connected equipment during blackouts, and runtime is expandable with optional external battery packs. The SMART3000RM2U features three individually controllable outlets that can reboot select equipment on demand or maximize battery runtime for mission-critical equipment. USB and DB9 communication ports support messaging of detailed UPS operational parameters and line power status. Included PowerAlert UPS monitoring and unattended shutdown software provides management support for an unlimited number of network UPS systems.

Advanced Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR)

Advanced AVR protects connected equipment from incremental hardware damage, data loss and performance problems that can be caused by brownouts (low-voltage conditions) and overvoltages. The SMART3000RM2U corrects brownouts as low as 83V and overvoltages as high as 147V to a nominal 120V, providing safe computer-grade power to all connected components without consuming backup battery power needed to support equipment through blackouts.

Controllable Load Banks

The SMART3000RM2U includes three outlets that are individually controllable via a software interface for remote reboot of locked-up equipment or load shedding to maximize battery backup time for mission-critical equipment.

Reliable Battery Backup

UPS battery backup keeps connected equipment operational through short power failures, and provides time to save data and perform an orderly system shutdown in case of a prolonged blackout. The SMART3000RM2U features a large internal battery that provides four minutes of battery support for a full load (2250 watts) and 11 minutes for a half load (1125 watts). During normal operation, incoming utility power keeps the UPS battery fully charged so that backup power will always be available if needed. For mission-critical applications demanding continuous uptime, the fully scalable SMART3000RM2U can provide expandable runtime with optional external battery packs, sold separately.

Highly Efficient Operation Reduces BTU Output

The SMART3000RM2U features high-efficiency operation—up to 96%—that can significantly reduce a facility's energy costs by minimizing heat output, lowering cooling requirements and reducing the consumption of electricity.

Surge Suppression and EMI/RFI Line Noise Filtering

A sudden power surge or spike can damage or destroy electronic components and wipe out irreplaceable data. The SMART3000RM2U features a 570-joule surge suppression rating to protect connected components and data from the harmful effects of power surges. Various electrical and radio sources can cause disruptive interference on the AC line. This line noise is a common cause of incremental hardware damage, data corruption and audio/video performance problems. The SMART3000RM2U incorporates technology that filters out disruptive line noise, preventing it from affecting your equipment.

USB/DB9 Ports, SNMP Capability and Included PowerAlert Software

The SMART3000RM2U features a USB port and a DB9 port (cables included). Used with Tripp Lite's included PowerAlert software these communication ports provide comprehensive network power monitoring and control. Capabilities include UPS and line power status messaging (on battery, low-battery, power restored, AC line voltage, DC battery voltage and remaining battery capacity), timed inverter shutoff after unattended shutdown, and UPS output power control for delayed or immediate reboot of connected devices. The SMART3000RM2U also accepts an optional SNMPWEBCARD accessory that enables the UPS to operate as a managed device on the network.

Front-Panel LED Display

The SMART3000RM2U features an array of five front-panel LEDs that show line power, battery power, AVR, overload and replace battery status.

Versatile Installation Options

The SMART3000RM2U requires only 2U of rack space in a standard 4-post rack enclosure (mounting accessories included). It can also be installed in a 2-post rack using the optional 2POSTRMKITWM accessory, or in an upright tower configuration with the optional 2-9USTAND accessory.

We contacted Tripp Lite tech support, but they wanted to go through a long, drawn out process that would have taken about 20 business days to get a replacement. Meanwhile we have servers that are unprotected--obviously an unacceptable situation. Returned to NewEgg, who is awesome by the way, and purchased a competing brand. Other Thoughts: The batteries arrived at 20V. The UPS won't charge if the voltage is less than 40V, so we swapped batteries. Still no luck. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful. Did you? sote1999 1/31/2009 9:58:52 PM Tech Level: 5/5 Ownership: 5/5	Rating: 5/5Great UPS Pros: Stable, high performance rack mountable unit. Lives up to the specs. Easy to manage with provided software. Cons: Caution: If you plug this unit into a 20A GFCI breaker, it will trip the breaker randomly (not dependent on unit load - tested it in several different loads with the same result). After I replaced the GFCI breaker with a regular (non GFCI, non-AFCI) one, things have been running smoothly ever since. Not one breaker trip. Other Thoughts: I haven't really gone to the point to measure the Amps drawn by this unit at servers startup, charging and normal operation, but I have 5xSuperMicro 1U , 1x3U SuperMicro Storage enclosure with 16 HDDs, HP Ultrium 1U tape drive, and all my networking gear pulling power from this unit.
